Prize fund

I would like to know how many of you are bowling for the prize fund or are you bowling for the enjoyment. I would be happy to find a league that did not have a prize fund and just made the weekly fees less.

I agree with you toolman,I do it for the enjoyment and beacuse I love the sport the money doesnt really matter.Our league is a low paying league we won season champs and only got like $70 paying $13 a week.But its not about the money I have great teammates and the league is a good competitive league and we have a good time which is all that matters.

Why can't it be both? I love bowling and I'm a competitive person by nature, but over all I have fun no matter what I'm doing especially bowling. Last year we won $770 each from the prize fund, and had an absolute riot doing it. Our team came in second place over all and we also drank the most booze* and by far had the most fun on any given night.


*(Side note our A bowler drank the most booze, I will only have one drink during bowling league play. Also our legue gives away free pictures of beer for 7 strikes in a row so we won allot of free beer.)

I am not voting in this one because my answer is two parts.

1st part..... I do this for the love of the game. All of my leagues I bowl in are comp3titive except one. And that one is a fun league, although there are around 5 guy's competeing for high avg. I have been bowling since I was 6 (48 yrs. worth of bowling ) so it's in my blood. My dad worked for mbrunswick and built many houses accross the country. That's how I got into this game.


2nd part........ I also do this for the prize fund at tournaments whether it be single/ doubles/ team regionals, senior event and so forth. And this year with the help of Hammer products I look forward to doing very well this year.


PS. Hey Idlehourlegend,,,,,,,, I saw Pete K this morning. He said he has to go through the treament all ovber again. Also said he is not feeling to good. I told him to keep in touch.

Yep he did last year. I am on his team the past two years. he's an incredible bowler. I'm proude to be part of the team with him and everyone else.

Two leagues I bowl in, the prize fund is less than $3 a night per bowler. So that probably counts.

Last year league cost me a total of $30 for the year. The year before I won enough for the hawgzilla in tournament profits.

I think the idea is that for quite some time we had alot of garbage filling these threads. personal attacks, overstated opinions, pompous egos, etc... you name it, we had it, and it had nothing to do with bowling. Bubba will decide where the line is to be drawn, we can only hope and pray that being 90% "on topic" is acceptable ;) Also, keep in mind that Bubba only has the health of the forums in mind. Don't be offended if he moderates you. In fact, i wish he'd moderate me alittle /wiggleseyebrows /showssomeleg

yea ..in no means when all that personal crap was going on....I was in no way part of it..although 95% of the people here were..I kept my mouth shut because I would have gotten way out of line...all that girl whining that was going on was a bit too much so I stayed gone from here just popping in time to time....so if the internet warrior wants to moderate me for trying to get a laugh off of a simple subject..so be it...I'll leave again..no biggie...if bowling means that much to you that you cant laugh....you need therapy....smile and take a joke people...sheesh

Thats terrible about Pete I sure hope he starts feelin better hes a great guy and a better bowler.I knew there was something really wrong when he didnt call Jim A. Back. And yes Slap I made the jump from the youth leagues to the adult leagues when I was 14 I subbed for the first half of the season and bowled steady the second have and wound up with a 192 average. and It was the best thing I ever did the competition is much better and so are the people espiecially my team.They've always supported me and helped me and were there to pick me up on the nights that I didnt throw so well.

I play on my 70 year old dad's team because it gives me some special time with him. As a kid, I always wanted to play on his team. I couldn't wait til I was old enough. Now that I can, it's all about our time together. I have to admit, and I have on several occasions in here, I am working on my game, but in the end, I do it to be with dad...for as long as I can. That's what this game is about.

I agree last year I started to bowl on my dads team and its been a great expierience I had my first 800 and he had his 6th 300 while i was on his team they were great moments to expierience together.

Although be careful going down the path of the darkside. We had an old team mate J and every time we bowled this one team with this guy G on it. J would totally get in G's head. You could tell G really wanted revenge but it was this quest for revenge that usually lost him 4 games in a row. Hard to clear you head and swing free when you're seeing red!
