so i bowled in 2 leagues tonight 1 i was pre-bowling in, and the other was just a regular sunday night thing anyway heres what i bowled

4 game set
185, 190, 143, 165 = 693, for a 173 average, i dont know what happened in the last two i just seemed to fall apart

3 game set
134, 188, 195 = 517 for a 172 average, ggrr bloody first game killed that series i just couldnt find a line in the first game but then i realized that the lanes i had moved to went longer then the previous lanes so i used my recovery which is designed for long lanes

ended up with a 1210 for the 7 games which i suppose isnt bad its still like a 173 average just wish it could have been better, 1 thing is for sure i was pretty consistant tho averaging nothing lower than a 172 i guess what i lacked in great bowling tonight, i made up for in consistantsy

Last night I rolled a 197-133-203/533 with my Fury:) I still have trouble recognizing lane conditions, hence the 133! I end up moving around so much, I wonder if I am bowling or dancing!:confused: Anyway average is on the rise and I hope to see 170's by end of season:) Can anyone help me understand coverstocks better:rolleyes: ? Last night:
Game 1: 183
Game 2: 180 - had 117 after 5 and left 6 and 8 open (4-9 split in 6th...blew a 10 pin spare in the 8th)
Game 3: 164 - Had a 7/10 spilt in the 7th and left the 10th open on an easy
6-9-10 spare pickup. Started to miss my mark a bit late in the third game.

That's two Saturdays in a row with a 527 and 529 series. My 148 average is definately improving. I haven't bowled this well and this consistent/confident ever!

Anger has been hooking WAY too much. I am trying to kill the hook a bit with polish, Lustre King and no cleaning. I should have the hook where I want it in about 2 weeks.

When to practice tonight,
Had 161(wish they gave practice shots), 224,202,224,225,225. Finally have my timing back and Im hitting the ball again, play 18-10 the whole night with the BWP, the lanes were heavy oil and we were right by the door so it was really heavy(about 6 degrees outside), but still lost 2 of those games to a girl:p but it was nice to actually be consistent again. Had 2 opens the last 5 games and they were both splits.

Today I shot a 555 series (216 170 169), 185 average, and won all 3 points for my team. My normal league average is 140. This was my first league day with my new Elite Black, and I love it. Hits hard, now I am hunting for my first 600 series.

I used my hammer pain on 1 lane and my hamer vibe on the other lane tonight as the one lane was tighter that the other i had games of 255+205+225=685 then I bowled another game of 255 again im averaging about 226 this season yes thats on house shots in 2 leagues i accually down this year but i had a real good year last year with a 232 aver in 4 leagues
i am not bowling as much this season and ive had some health trouble and im getting older too but not bad for 46 year old i guess.

Painful day. 160 150 149 = 459 153avg, which given my book average of 147 is really not bad for me, its sad given last week I had a 555 and felt more confident.

Seems like they hit the lane with a heavier shot, nothing I was throwing was moving to the pocket until mid game 2. I was getting sloppy strikes in the first game, but i feel I bowled better mid game 2 and game 3, but I also left the 10 or 7 a lot and not converting spares (left the spare ball at home :/ oops)

I didn't really have anything with me that allowed me to cut through the oil and still get movement into the pocket. Lesson learned. We split the points, won 10 lost 10, lets hope the second place team didn't pick up 16 and knock us down from first.

Well here are my pitiful league scores from last tuesday. This was my first ever league game/series. What happened was I was at the alley bowling before 6pm, I bowled 9 practice games, was getting ready to leave and was asked if I would mind filling in.
Of course I said yes, was kind of tired though and had a bad blister on my thumb. (Didn't have my bag prepared, now its fully equiped)
Bowled a 119, 142, 132 for a WEAK 393 and a league average of 131. I beat the person I was up against in 2 of the 3 games so I guess I didn't hurt my team too much. But I did well enough to become a member of the league now. All I can do is go up from there!!:)

Entered the morning at 225 avg..Started 215 opening the ninth & tenth with 2-8-10's. Had a guy throwing a black knight which created alot of carry down in the second game.BWP just couldn't make the turn so I took and sacrificed about 5 frames the second game and threw a roto grip cell around 12-14 - burned that area up switched back to the BWP in the tenth struck out for 159. Then shot 238 for 612.Not great but able make something out something that did not look to great.

Our team only won 7 yesterday, it was a tough one. I went something along the lines of 168 202 120 :: avg: 163 :: book avg: 141. Overall it was a good day for me, but game 3 hurt a lot. Not sure what happened at game 3, I was leaving a ton of splits and wasn't converting many spares and I couldn't find a good line. We ended up losing total pins for the night by 1.

(2/19/2008) Threw my Black Widow Pearl, Gamebreaker, Blue Dot. Threw a 155, 127, 143 for a 425 series and a day average of 142. Bringing up my league average to 136. :o But I did improve. Just a matter of getting use to of the long off time between turns.

P.S. We won 2 of the 3 games, scratch wise....

Filled in for a friend's league team. I believe we won 2 of the 3 scratch games.

Threw my Black Widow Pearl/Blue Dot. Bowled a 184,125,122 for a 431 series and a 144 session average. This was at a different alley, but no excuse. Started off great but went into the tank the 2nd and 3rd games. Not closing out frames is the issue.

That brings up the league average to 138. Still going up but not very impressive at all!:(

Well I purchased 2 new non-hammer/ebonite umbrella family balls (SD-73 Classic and Cell).:o Threw those last night. Bowled a 148,136,178 for a career league high 462 and a 154 session average. Still very lame but yet improving. Still need to close out frames better!! I get in little ruts where I don't close out frames, but I'm improving.
New league average is now 142. Filling in again on Thursday for my friends team.

Well my league scores are improving. Its taken time to get use to the long waits inbetween turns.
Bowled a 170-161-161 for a 492, my best league session thus far. I keep improving every week so I guess that is all I can ask for!

Bowling league average is a weak 146.8, but like I said its going up!:o

Last weeks scores were pretty good. First game started out shakey, but finished with 7 strikes, then a 7 count on my last ball in the tenth, 233. Second game was a 297. I choked for sure on that one. Left the 1-2-4. I was a little lucky to get that far anyways, so I'll take it. Third game was a 202. I'll take a 732 series any night.

Would of posted sooner but comp was down. 2 weeks ago had a 232, 214,279 for a 725 series . :mad: seven pin cost me a 300 in the first ball of the 10th frame but that is still my high series and high game so maybe a 300 is a possibility some day. I threw my black widow all night long too. When you guys talk about consistency I guess you know what your talking about, hit the same mark and same speed and release on every shot(even when i left the seven pin).

This is my first post on this forum and thought I'd start here. I'm nowhere near as good as everyone on this forum but I'm going to get some coaching and hope to get much better.

Anyway, to this post, I shot 204 - 258 - 182 for a 644 yesterday. My high series for the year.

So, I went to the center and subbed for a friend's team last night and had a much better night. Just missed a 600 series.

I shot 196, 177, 220 for a 593. Two out of three above my avg, which is 185 in that league. Regardless, it's a major improvement over the way I have been bowling in leagues.

I still had some struggles with dropping the ball but I strung some strikes together. Still gotta work on the release some and figure out some things. My friend, who is going to be my doubles partner in Williamsburg is kind of a new friend and he mentioned that my delivery is awkward in that I turn my wrist over.

Of course, I am already aware of that and will hopefully figure it out someday and be able to release the ball properly and not spin it so much.

However, I am doing it less and when I don't drop the ball, I get nice revs and have a beautiful hook. I got a lot of compliments on my nicely thrown shots, which were much more frequent.

The main thing I've improved on is staying down and releasing the ball lower and smoother with less loft and a nice feeling of ripping the ball off my fingers.

So, all in all, a decent night and I helped that team take all three games.

Used my Angular One the first game and really fought for a 191. I just had my Blue Vibe drilled this morning and had thrown a game with it earlier practicing. I switched to it in the 3rd frame of the 2nd game and finished out with, shooting a 233 & 247. The carry I got with it was amazing, shots that I thought were light/high, it carried beautifuly. I was amazed with this ball.

3/12 Wednesday Early Mens League

*** here's one that'll leave you scratching your head...last night at the house i bowl in we have 2 leagues side by side, our 10 team league and an 8 team league. the lanes for the 8 team league were dark, some sort of electrical problem we were told. they went ahead and turned our lanes on since we had power and we started our first game. now for the fun part, after we'd completed the 9th frame they called a halt to play and said that they had to cancell both leagues for the night...as apparently the local fire dept. advised them to do...although there were no fire dept personnel there. so we weren't even allowed to finish the game even though we only had the tenth frame to go. don't know what they're going to do about the scores if they were able to save them...if we continue next week we'd have to do so without any warmup or practice balls...don't know if we'll just start over or what. real bummer either way...a guy on our pair had the front 9 strikes and a 9 spare first frame in the tenth for a possible 279 and another guy a few lanes down also had the front 9 and he's already thrown a couple of 300's this year. will have to wait until next week to see what happens.:eek:

So they need to sweep all 7 just to have a chance and hope the top two split 4/3. My son puts up his highest series all season
with a 618. He finishes game two with five in a row and starts game three with the Motel 6 front 6. I owe him 600$.:)
All of his teammates bowl well over their average and they sweep all seven points. All dad's are smiling! As fate would have it,
the top two teams split 4/3 and we are tied at 60. So it's one line, scratch pins, in the Baker format for the title.
The winnig team has hdcp's of 0,19,30,44. :eek: Two of my son's teammates dads are league bowlers in this house,
so they figure out the lineup to put my son in the 10th. Everyone is gathered arround the two lanes and it's so quiet
you can hear a pin drop. After each teams's shot, all parents are offering positive comments. It's a tight game going into the 10th.
Their first shot in the 10 is a split, something like a 3-7. The make one pin. Son comes up and throws XXX. They win the league!!!!:D

I don't know what happened the third game, but I lost it. Yesterday's league I shot 203, 201, 168. First 2 could've been 230+ but I didn't hit some spares and the 3rd I just fell apart, couldn't hit anything. I'm not upset, I only have a 174 average, but I'm capable of consistently averaging 200. Physically I'm fine, it's mental game that I need work on. Either thinking too much or heads not in the game or whatever.


I went to practice today and shot 214, 170, 191, 210, 155. The second was a bad game, the last I was getting tired. Just picking up 1 or 2 spares in each game that were simple would've given me a very nice set.

I missed a couple single pin spares, had a gutter/spare, a couple shots that were 3-6-10/3-6-9-10 and just missed a pin or two out of them.

well i went into practice confident after last week...only to find im playing a line i shouldnt be and im to damn stubborn to move...struggle not carrying anything and my 10pin spare shootin is awful right now...shoot 178 switch from my bite to my widow solid cuz i thought the bite was too much (come to figure out im just dumb and didnt move way inside and let the ball do the work) so i have the BWS in my hand second game and shoot 267 with..ofcourse a missed 10 pin in the 6th...get into the 3rd game and no carry from the same line so smart me fights it til the 8th frame, grab my bite again and move way inside and punch the back 5 to shoot 170...shooting 615...just have to get some practice in and learn to move like i used to instead of trying to fight a shot....

Had one open each game and this makes my league average 190 which was a personal goal since joining this modified "sportish" shot league.

3/25 Monday Night Scratch League

-214-279-253-193 = 939 series 72 game average 212.11

-was bowling against my wife which i'm sure there will be repercussions, cause i beat her all 4 and series. a 10 pin in the 4th frame the second game, left me with the 279.:)

Entered morning at 226 avg..Shot 688 openening in the tenth of the last game.

i bowled a 152/163/144 i hit my spot 3 times in a row and got strike/split /and a ringing 7 was wierd for guy on other team who was lefty also. at least got avg(144) or better all three games.:rolleyes:

246+234+225=705 with the blue vide it is a more flipping ball for a weaker all it hooks more than I would expect.

Had my first decently consistent night tonight in a while with the BWB, heavier oil shot first game went x x 9/ xxxxxx 8/x for 256, next game had a clean 216 towards the end of the game my line dried up and had to move deeper inside, 3rd game stayed deep inside had some trouble, didnt notice the right lane was 3 boards tighter than the left until the 9th frame, had one open (only one of the night) for 209 plus made the 6-8 split which for a lefty is hard. So wound up with a 681 series, not bad for the bad run I've been on. Gotta love the bite though, so smooth through the heads but packs a punch on the backend.

Thank you, yea I've been having that same problem, good first one then downhill when they dry up with the bite, switch balls and its usually over under with the solid or pearl, so the last 2 go downhill, tonight I just decided to stick with it and mover wherever I had to, but worked out o.k.

Sounds like we have been having the EXACT same problem...its so frustrating....im going to throw my bite 2mrorow night in league and hopefully can keep it in my hand all night..last thurs i didnt have to move much..only like 3 boards all night and shot 768 so hoping i keep my head outta my rearend for 3 games

Yea I hear ya, exact same problem, honestly just kept saying positive things on the approach and it helped. Also to get my Bite from being so snappy and turning so early, I polished it and its a lot smoother now and allows me to play in deeper and not have to worry about it snapping on the nose, holds a lot better now.

i was curious about polishing mine..and one of my buddies told me to do that after the first night..but ive left it...but like u said its very snappy...im gonna give it a few more sets before i decide to do anything with it...in which if i do ill be asking you the polishing questions lol..

last thursday i bowled a 830 (207 av)
256, 190. 201. 183

whats funny is that last wednesday was the first time i bowled under 150 since i got my bite (during coaching) and i start bowling like above

Well, I guess listening to someone with more experience helps. On the advice of a bowler of some 35+ years, I quit trying to make the ball do something. In other words, I did not break my wrist when rolling - I came straight up and let the ball do the work. The results, using my No Mercy, were 190 - 240 - 222, a 652 series, my best ever. And, my 240 was the house high for the second game. I started out standing on board 20, throwing at 8. By the start of the third game, I was standing on 25/26, shooting at 10. I started the second game with an 8 open, then threw 7 straight strikes and did the tenth with two strikes and 9.

Did ok today, shot 555. Went 148-202-205. During my second game I tripped on my shoe lace and flew onto the lane, and oil was all over my hands and jeans. It was kinda distrubing, my teammate kept grabbing the other team mates asses to be funny but no, it was really just gay and emberrassing for my team.
