Just got to use my new BWP for the Thursday night leage and I almost got a 600 with it the same day it was drilled. 179, 211, 205. 595 series.
Took it out then on friday for couple games at a different house on synthetic lanes instead of the wood lanes I usually bowl on. 117 with tons of splits all game but I figured things out in the last frame and then shot a 235 my next game. I decided to get this ball since my old storm became a straight ball if there was any oil at all on the lanes. Still dialing everything in but I'm impressed so far with my Hammer :-)

Had the transition problem the second game and didn't pick up 3 spares that I should have, but my games are as follows:

Second game could've been 177 just picking up the spares in 2, 3 and 9. I left the 6-10 3 times in that game. Should've known to start moving, but when I finally did, I lost it again.

Can't be too upset though, 1st and 3rd are better than I expected.

Just hit a 299 earlier tonight with my black widow Dont think i was ever so nervous before, by my last shot my hand was shaking. Had a ringing 7 pin(lefty), didnt throw a bad shot. Was a nice feeling though every1 standing behind the lanes chanting for you than after the 7 stood up all you heard is ahhhh. Have a 181 avg, wanted to finish stronger this season but not terriable for only my 2nd league started almost a year and a half ago. It was a high scoring night though, another 299 and 2 300s tonight.

Tonight I started Bowling in My normal summer sport bowling. every summer I bowl on the tougher lane conditions. tonight I decided to bowl on the pba pattern scorpion. I struggled at first but in the last couple games I started to figure something out. I bowled 6 games. having a 580 series for the first 3 games with a 245 my last game. my last game of the 6 was a 268. I used a Raw Hammer anger.

another disappointing night.....258+179+202 just cant seem to pin 3 games together in my monday night league....thursday night league im killing it avging like 230 since getting my bite w/ a 768 and a 713, it seems like the transition between first and 2nd game on mon is just 2 drastic and it takes me 4 frames to figure it out and by that time my middle game is shot

Sunday was bad. I had a 491 series. I haven't dropped below 500 since the halfway mark in our league (over 12 weeks now). I bowled a 191 (had no shot...just got lucky on a few brooklyn's and picked up all my spares). I used my Tropical Storm most of the game. Second game was 152 or 153, and the last game was 147 or 148. I still had no shot for the most part. The lanes were totally burnt out. I had to really crank the Tropical Storm to get it into the pocket and keep it away from the head pin or brooklyn side. I also blame myself for the most part. My wrist was sore all night and my mental game was the worst it's been since the beginning of the league.

I was disappointed in my BWP for the first time since I've owned it (at least 75, probably closer to 100 games on it now). It didn't react at all. I bowled some practice during the week and it stopped reacting. I did the hot water soak on it a couple days before league and it's still not reacting near as much as it was before. I'm going to take it to my pro shop guy Thursday to have it resurfaced.

One of my teammates who was using his Cell, had 6 in a row to start the first game and then fell apart in the second game. He had a 223 first game and 191 the third game which kept us alive. I can usually count on him to pick up my slack. Unfortunately we didn't take all the points, we tied one game and now we're only in first by 1.5 points.

Sorry, that was more like a rant than anything, but I'm done.

Started today at 227.It was our position round for the half and we had to give 137 a game.Lost the the first game by 60.Won the second by 40 and won the third game by 30 something but we lost totals by 2.I shot 753 but I needed basically the first one in the tenth to win it and threw a great shot but just smoked a ten pin.Which was the only spares I shot at this morning.I struck or left the ten.Overall not abad year for bowling one morning a week.I shot one 300 and had 824 for high series.Up next is nationals on April 28&29.

I used my new Hammer Black Widow Bite tonight.
as there was carry down on the lanes and my pearl would not eat through it.
So I used my hammer bite and got the benefit as the bite has a more aggressive cover To eat through that carry down. and then I scored a 245 when I changed balls.

This saturday morning my team set a new house record, my team consists of me
(im 17) my gf whose 16 the proshops owners son who is 9, and a kid ive been coaching who is 15. Nick the 9 year old shot an amazing 221, my girlfriend fired right back with a 224, Tyler the 15 year old shot an 241 and i followed everything up with a 288. Scratch total for us was 974. Almost hit 1000!!!!! Not to shaby for a 4 person kid team eh?

I had another bad Sunday night league. 159 + 172 + 168 = 499. As a team we did well enough to maintain first place and took all three games plus total. We had to overcome a -208 to start with as the other team had a sub who's handicap is 155 which just happened to sub for their highest average bowler (he has a 39 handicap). I don't know if that was a move to try and take points from us, but it didn't work.

I'm glad we took all our points, but I'm not worried about my bowling for the day as it was day 2 for my ABT tournament and I took 5th place in that.

As I stated in another thread, I bowled Sat. at 4pm for qualifying and wasn't sure if I'd make it (+157 was my score and the cut wound up being +147). I bowled a 203, 198, 214, 182. I have a 40 hdcp with them.

I went back Sunday morning for semi's. I bowled a +141 in the 3 game series...started with a 143 not being able to find any mark, then bowled a 255, and a 223. Wound up making the top 5 to bowl in ladder matches. Being that this was my first time even making it to the semi-finals, I was excited, but I was way too nervous in the ladder match and threw a 168 only. Lost by about 20 pins. Person that I bowled wound up taking 2nd. I'm happy I took 5th and walked away with $150.

I won Our annual 9pin tournament with a 850 scratch score.
it is a 3 game tournament also its like the last bang of the season.
I used my ebonite no limit . I roll alot of 9 counts.
tomorrow is a monthly scratch tournament I have not bowled in one for awhile as I got sick with a blot clot in my leg.
I'm thinking of trying it again I would really like to win one of these.
the competition is so tuff in the Midwest these young bowlers are so powerful.
I hold my own for a 46 year old man with health issues.
its all about carry for me.

I bowled I our local Monthly Scatch Tournament Today. I Had scores of 203+216+226+279+223=1147. I got 8th place and got a high game. I collected $72 with a high game. the tournament payed 1 out of 4 with 32 entries. it was a $40 entry fee. They said next month we will be bowling on a tougher pattern. I felt this pattern was not that easy as it was really hard to get the write carry and ball speed. I used A Hammer Black Widow Bite


Information about this bowling ball. - When to use - I use it when there is some carry down, it is stronger than the hammer black widow solid. this center has synthetic lanes and the lane oil moves down the lane and the bowling balls will hit flat. so the bowler tends to leave alot of flat 10 pins. That's when to use a bowling ball like the black widow bite. or a ball with a more agressive coverstock

I am Back to practicing on the sport patterns.
write now I am practicing on the PBA pattern called scorpion. The Scorpion is a 41ft semi blended pattern. I also Bowl On old wood lanes with gardian on the first 22ft I bowled 4 games and had a 585 for the first 3 and a 245 in the 4th game. I play this pattern more inside and use a particle ball to dry a spot out. then I will move left and try to hit the same spot on the backend at a different angle. I think that if you did not have a particle ball you could use a scuffed up solid reactive ball.

Well last night of league and an end to a very bad year for me,

Had 217,213,202 = 632.

It was a lot heavier oil than normal and the shot dried up very quick over the 3 games, stubborness made me hold onto the bite no matter how dry it got :D oops.... Well ended the season with a 207 average, down 10 pins from last year. But just have to look at the bright side, got the whole summer to work on things to make myself better and more prepared for next year. Got a couple tourneys coming up then PBA sweepers in the summer so we'll see how it goes.

Last night I bowled on a broken down pba scorpion pattern.
I used a particle pearl bowling ball stacked 4.5 away from my pap. O this was also an asymmetrical core. But I used a track Machine which they don't make anymore. I had good scoring for this condition with scores of 235+245+210+190=880
I know these scores sound high but, I put some league bowlers on this lane condition Sunday, and none of them broke 500, I think the high series was 465, and 2 of these bowlers average over 200.

4/25 TGIF Couples League

-was sweepstakes night and roll off for the two winners of each half. we finished 2nd the first half and won the 2nd half, but we were bowling with a blind because one of our bowlers had surgery on monday and couldn't bowl and no subs are allowed on position nights and rolloffs. did better than i hoped bowling with a blind score, but couldn't overcome the 170 pin handicap defecit we were giving the other team. also, we didn't help ourselves by bowling like we could've. as a team we were 19 pins under our averages, while the other team was 134 pins over. so we finished second overall and came away with about $725 or so to split between us, not bad!

Last night I bowled incredibly well after not bowling for a couple days.
even though it was on house conditions I never had an open frame in 4 games.
I am getting ready for a tournament this Sunday its scratch and at a different center than I normally bowl at.
well last night I used my hammer blue vibe its is a more flippy ball even though I don't have it drilled that way. I have it drilled at ebonite 90degree layout. and have adjusted the surface with 1000 abralon. we have wood with guardian on the first 22 ft. water base on the last part of the lane and synthetic in decks. I posted scores of 279+277+239+267 I had a unbelievable reaction. ok im a old stroker my wheel house is a soft belly from the 13th to the 8th board.

Just a quick update to post my league ending stats. Did what I wanted this year and brought my average up into the 190s. Also this year, I had the most 600 series I've had in this league. Well I got my hammer black widow pearl.
I have not used it for awhile, I thought that I would get it out as the house I had beed using it in the league is over. that bowling center has HPL Synthetic surface. I mostly bowl on wood now and we have guardian on the first 22 ft.

I will tell you what this ball really grabs the wood surface its really skid flippy compared to the HPL. I scored ok having a 686 for 3 games, it was hooking alot on the dry boards though. and yes this was on a house shot.

I had been bowling on the pba pattern scorpion lately Ill do the sport shots in the summer.

I thought last thursday would be our rolloff but it turns out that was just the last week of regular league and our rolloff is this thursday. My first go with my bwp at 2000 abralon in league was an eye opener for sure. 190, 199, 207. Nice series for me since I only have a 170 avg. Went with a buddy of mine friday to the local alley by my house and bowled 229, 205, 194. We signed up for a doubles no tap league for the summer as well. I really need to look into a plastic spare ball for next season because I only have about a 10% conversion rate on 10 pins with my bwp. :-\ All in all a good couple days of bowling for me.

Last night I bowled after work again I slow down in the summer. the last 2 seasons I bowled on a sport league. but this summer my job got changed so I am only practicing . well any way the lane had not been oiled for a couple days and we have wood here so if you know anything about wood it soaks in.
well just for kicks I decided to use my black widow pearl its a long and strong ball boy does this ball grab dry board. and you know why do do we still call them boards on synthetic lane there are no boards just plastic. humm - well I had lots of strike but missed lots of spares do to the friction. I bowled a 665 series.

Last Night I decided to try something that I have not bowled on in years. that is short oil I don't know how many out there remember short oil but it was a rule that was passed in the late 80,s i believe that a center could do anything that they wanted to the lane but could not oil pasted 26 ft and later the amended the rule to 24 ft cause they said scores were to high. well I believe that there was not reactive resin balls out yet and popular balls were hammer red pearl and the blue hammer urethane, I also used a black rhino. well any way I didn not go as short as 26 ft but is did go back to 30 ft I may try the 26ft some day. I used my Hammer black widow pearl. and had a 215+222+228+236 for 4 game of practice.

We got second in bowloffs. We ended up bowling on a sport shot. I started out with a 150 first game and none of my normal lines were working, 2nd game I moved over to the 35 and was throwing out to around 12 and started striking, finished 198, Then the third game I had a chance to beat my high game and had 7 in a row going into the 10th frame. I let it go. It felt real good. BAM pocket 7-10. Finshed with a 244. So I'm done bowling till the 24th when we head to State tourney. :-P

Well after starting to bowl very good the last 2 yrs change houses this year, found out I have Carpel Tunnel and just bowling like a$$ all year, last 3 weeks got on a hot streak finally.

It was a few things I started to run pots and be running around too much to get people in get scores etc last few weeks before season ended said I'm done with the pot I was running. Also same time I got a lesson to help me find out why I was tugging the whole year I was lucky to hit pocket 10 times a nite before my lesson. A simple video lesson showed me what I was doing wrong my last sec release and trying to overpower it. Then got some new balls this did help me but not as much as the other 2.

Finishing out at a 163 avg I havent avg that since I was 18 im 24 now. Last week shot a 201-243-235=679 last nite 173-278-198=649 I started the nite with back to back 7-10 splits and striked out all 3 games in the 10th. Went from hitting pocket 10 to 25+ times just didnt get some carry sometimes.

Also went back up to 16ibs from 15ibs I think the 15ibs made me want to tug and throw faster ( it only hurt me in this house outside of this house I was fine no tug).

So Im happy the last 4 weeks I shot 600+ series a good finish for a bad year.
Took me a few month to bowl with the carpel tunnel change hand poistions to take rev off so I wasnt in pain all nite and the next day, I think I did become a better bowler out of it even though I had a bad avg for me.

This is a tuff house everyone who bowls here will avg atleast 10 pins less unless you point/ have very little rev. My whole team crankers/ strokers avg min 20 pin less. We shot a 1164 scratch last week to end the year 5 man teams

Bowled a 7 game block for practice with my gf tonight

Had 727 for the first 3 games with a 280, had 955 for the last 4.

So had 1682 for a 7 game block with my BWP which I believe to my memory is my high for 7 games. Every game was very consistent had 1 bad game of 197 but everything else was big, felt good to be back again, atleast for now. Pot bowled with in my opinion the best bowler in the house we bowl in who averages 240 and my gf's dad the last 3 games and won 2 out of 3 and the second one I lost 248-250 to the 240 average guy, so was a good night, so close to a 300 a lot of time, had the front 7 twice and the 280.

Then we scored over lowest score during the tournament , 139, and got beat by the other team. There was more oil today, I should have swiched balls but did not. next time.
Skipping from position 38 to position 9 in 1 round was by far the biggest improvement ever for that tournament.
All by all not bad for my first tournament ever.

I bowl a 200/157/144 using the BWP, and after the first game the breaking in period starts to kick in, and gets worse by the 3rd game. But all is good, and I'll be digging my roo skin shoes alot more when the breaking in period is gone.

bowled a Hi Roller event at one of the centers I bowl league at. it was open to anyone who had a weekly hi game or series on any league from the just completed season. shot games of 226-185-217= 628 series. they used your three games for singles, doubles, and team by blind drawing your partners for doubles and team. a different format that also included moving one pair to the right after each game. finished second in doubles and team. But the big payday came after the last game and they drew tickets for a strike pot. they had four pots of $100 each and one for $96, and you had to get a strike to get the cash...my ticket was drawn for the first shot and i promptly threw a high hard one for a strike and the cash...then unbelievebly another of my tickets was drawn for the last $100 and i threw a better shot and also struck. so walked out the center $226 richer, not a bad day.:cool:

Had some trouble swinging my BWS out far enough to handle the line so I shot only 160 and 172 the first 2 games. The last game I managed to adjust enough to shoot 224 for a 556 series. I was told the lanes are supposed to be this way all summer so hopefully I will be able to do better earlier.

gf had 610 for first 3, then averaged 201 for the last 5.

Pot Bowled today in a house that I haven't bowled at in around a year. Was very consistent threw the BWB, first game was a feel game to see what the shot was like, had the last 4 for 201. Next game had 259. Last game had 258. For a 718 series, not bad for not having bowled there in a long time in a house that is known for being tough and not carrying well.

Only been serious bowling for 6 months now and last night I got my first ever 600 series with my BWB in our house shot league!!! 210 - 186 - 215. Not too shabby for a guy who only averages 142 after 4 weeks in the PBA Experience league:D LOL

More bad bowling. I started out with my Bite sinced it worked so well last week. After sucking for 3 games I switched to my Solid LevRG and that worked a lot better. I threw some practice games after the league and scored better so I plan to play a different part of the lane next week.

I was just in a funk. It could have been a house shot and it wouldn't have mattered. When I miss single pin spares and chop 8 counts I know it's a bad day. I just tried to work through it.

We're on the same pattern for two more weeks so we'll see how I do tonight.

I went out to practice at a center I have some trouble at.
they are having a tournament there in a couple weeks.
I thought Id see if I could figure something out.
they have AMF HPL bowling Surface.
I always bowl like huge game then struggle.
ok I had 199+205+265+207+253 for 5 games and had opens in the 265 and 253 games in the 205 and 207 were clean.
The one thing I don't understand .
Is the only ball that works well for me at this place is a hammer hawg.
and they don't make it any more.
I liked that ball wish they had something close.

I have HPL lanes at my center. They are aggressive and most people tend to try and let the ball hook. The lane surface is micro grooved from foul line to head pin. Helps the ball read friction, but sometimes too much. This is a lane surface that you want to try and play as straight as your game will let you. This will increase your carry because the ball stores more energy and finishes better. The reason you try to play them straighter is that when you straighten up you tend to use less tilt, and stay behind the ball. Too much tilt reads the micro groove in the lanes too much and burns up your ball motion. This lane surface is not ball specific, but tends to carry better for straighter players. I personnally have a lot of revs, and fell into not carrying for a long time. Once I went to Jeff's Powerhouse training clinic it helped me understand more than just how to measure and drill balls. I have come to a whole new understanding of ball motion and how it relates to my game. Try playing them straighter, I hope this helps.

Wednesday nite i played two lines for 225 - 212 with 20 for handicap i got the score of the week with my second 225 line !!! prize: movie tickets.
By the way on the first line my mates were late so only two of us played it and we were losing really bad. I closed with 5 in a row and we won for 20 pins.

HPL lanes are QubicaAMF's synthetic lane surface. I believe they are the most aggressive Synthetic surface available. Although I have not bowled on Kegel Edge or US Bowling's Fast Lane. Man I love bowling, so many different variables. Keeping yourself educated nowadays is almost impossible.

I'll come out and shoot 200+ and then struggle to make 180. Just don't understand what I'm doing differently in the 2nd & 3rd games. :mad:

You may be hitting a transition period after the first game. I know that many houses don't put out the same volume of oil in summer as they would in winter. It makes a big difference. You just need to watch how the ball reacts and play with it from there. Don't be afraid to make a big jump and fine tune it from there on out.

1196 Sunday in our monthly scratch tournament. I got the last check again
3rd month in a row.
I used my ebonite one, the shot was inside and lots of back ends.
I averaged 239 and had 5 opens in 5 games and one was in the 10th frame.
they keep telling me they are making the tougher but the scores are still high, although they are changing the shot around.

Bowled a PBA Ex. Sweeper tonight used my Total NV all 3 games, had 190-178-214, opened in the 10th frame every game and opened 9 and 10 in the last game, so 18 under not bad for my first time in probably 2 years on the scorpion.

I committed to using my brand new Blue Vibe all 4 games last night on wood lanes in a doubles summer league.

Shot a 243 with it in the 3rd game right after the pro shop fellow beveled it out some for me, i finished with a 3 bagger in the 2nd game and carried it over to the 243 (170, 197, 243, 168). My average was 175 going into the night. Last game the lanes were bone dry, if I had a razyr or something to go to, I would've. Love that Blue Vibe, people were asking me what it is!

Loving the Blue Vibe so far, it really seems to carry when i get it near the pocket.

Had back surgery in Nov 07 to fix my back that sidelined me from bowling for 5 years. Tonight I finally said heck with a joined a two person league 4 games a night.
The lanes were pretty dry forcing me to use an inside line which I don't like using. My team mate as well as one of the guy's we were bowling against are lefty's and couldn't keep the ball on the lane as they were hooking out of the house. It's been a while but I don't remember seeing lefty's have that much trouble with dry lanes.
Anyway I had a 190, 239, 193, & 193 which felt pretty good as I was mostly working on picking up spares...strikes will come as I get in better shape.

First game with the cell I shoot 222 with opens in the 8th and 10th. Front 6. Then I shoot the next game and shoot back 8 or 9 for a 260, all the strikes with my pearl. I'm like okay I have 482 thru 2, I just have to have a "good" game to shoot 7.

First ball in the last game I pulled it, and left the 6-7, I went for the spare, and ripped a blister open in my thumb right where it joins your hand. I couldn't touch it with the ball and shot 139, and we ended up losing a game for only the 2nd time all league...

USBC will be there, I am curious about the new ball changes.
Like how will it affect the ones we use now.
I should say are they capping it.
so no further new technology and leave it in time or lowering it to plane urethane.
I am one of the few, I like the scores.
sport bowling is OK, but it gets old fast about 8 to 10 weeks of it and I am done.
don't get me wrong I have cashed bowling on it at nationals.
I always am in the top half in my sport leagues.

I think that with the way the scores are going nowdays, sport bowling is the only way to go for bowling. To me, sport bowling is fun, it's demanding, and makes you bowl better.
