Thursday Nite Practice League:
Tink rolls 120-135-148=403 That's her first 400 series and her average going in to tonite was 121.

Rowdy rolls 180-247-200=627 The 200 was a Dutch 200 and my average going in to tonite was a paltry 152. Had trouble with last weeks oil.

The pattern this week was totally different from last week. Last time it was an outside shot,this week it was going from way left,out to the channel on the right and a big finish into the pocket.

Saturday Nite is Scotch Doubles at a different house.

Wed men league threw Widow pearl first time 183 202 176=561 Got the BWP in june when it came out but the guy who does my drilling was redoing his bowling alley with all new lanes and wasnt going to have his proshop ready till after labor day so had it drilled wed morning and bowled with it wed night i was real happy with it going to be killer ball

second night of my friday night couples league last night after a visit to the chiropractor's office...wow what a difference...arm swing was loose and the nerve in my shoulder didn't bother me all night...shot 248-216-269/743, started with front 8 last game then left a ten in the 9th and went strike, ten pin spare in the tenth. 1st night on fri approaches were sticky and only shot a 565 for a 188 average and with the 743, average jumped to a 218. 3rd wk on fri shot 222-289-204/715. second game front 10 then of all things leave a 5 pin then a spare for 289...average jumped again to 224. on my wed mens league 1st wk 559...186 avg, 2nd wk 728...avg up to 214, and 3rd wk 563... avg 205,and 4th wk 648...avg up to a 208. gotta find a way to get off this rollercoaster i'm on and be more consistant from week to week...

Well... I started off with that horrid 147 average, but did better today. 225,182,180. I ended up having to prebowl as we had prior arrangements, and get this... as soon as my practice was over, they turned out the normal lights and turned on the black lights which only compounded the horribly dry lanes. So still not ideal, but better, and for the night I still averaged my goal of 195. I can only aim to get my average there at this point in time. But time will tell...

Saturday Nite Scotch Doubles for Tink and me. Format is 4 games,Ladies lead off on Games 1 and 3,Men on games 2 and 4. Alternate shot. Didn't do too bad for our 1st time bowling this kind of format. Won one hand of Poker,finished middle of the pack. Not enough strikes. They have a setup shot at the end of the night,you buy tickets to get into it and they keep going untill 4 people hit it. Shot was the 1-2-7-10. I was too heavy on the head pin and didn't carry the 10. Oh,well. I'll get it next week. Strike pot is cool. Pays over a $1000.00! No winner.pot carries over to the next week. You and your partner have to roll THREE strikes to win the cash! We'll give it another try next week!

Did well in sweepers in Laughlin Nevada. Shot 734 with all games over 200 and a 279 game in the mix (201, 279, 254). First place for men and made almost $500. First 700 away from my home bowling center.:D A high handicapper woman took several hundred more than me shooting a 498 with a 115 average (her series ended up being 751).:cool:

Had my best series this league with a 134/167/133, was during the second game where 3 of the other teammates went cold and my new recruit threw a 245 and I was next with my 167, the rest was worse than they was in the first game, but we still hit the 1000 pin mark for a team.

My goal for this season is to average 20 pins or more than I did last seasons 122, to concentrate more on my spares and to be more relaxed at the line while having fun.

Week 1: Started with BWP hurt middle finger in game after a month off from bowling to rest because of ring finger pain. Switched to NMB with was had fingers pitched the same. Older balls had fingers pitched different to help with ring finger issues.

Week 2: Started with NMB, used all night. Had BWP and High Rev correct to new pitches. The problem was the fingers are to tight. So need to get them buzzed slightly to help. Needed a ball change, in game three made a couple of adjustments... two boards left and one more target board left, then back to the right two boards and moved up on approach about 1 1/2 ft kept the close to the pocket, it just faded fast.

When I last bowled in a league I carried a 150 avg. I subbed last year after about a 5 year hiatus and carried a 168 avg. I am hoping by the end of the season I have it up to 180.


I have a 161 avg in 2 weeks just 19 pins to go.

Had to prebowl again... my wife's 15th year high school reunion is this weekend :mad:

The bad news... the lanes were as dry as usually are. Maybe alittle more.

The good news... I brought my Cherry VIBE with me. I shot a 625 (207,183,235). I bowled with the VIBE almost the entire time (had to give the TNV a few shots but it was breaking too hard).

The ball was breaking very early, but with no side weight I could come straight up the back of the ball and she'd just charge into the pocket with no extra leg work from the ball. I was standing pretty far left... on the 31 board, shooting at the 18 and swinging it to between the 7-3 board (I'm not perfectly accurate) when she'd break for the charge.

So, at least it seems, that I may be back on track for my 195 avg... so far I'm at 184.



On a side note... I noticed some girls getting coaching one after another for about an hour while I was there (2 went thru during that time and another had showed up as I was leaving) so I went and asked the coach if she had a business card or the such for me to contact her about getting some coaching. She seemed reluctant and explained that she really has no free time with the college bowling going on right now, but I asked if I could call her after the new year to see how her schedule looked and she said that would be fine. It turns out she's one of the girls Delaware State University bowling coaches and she's Silver Certified by the USBC ;) So maybe someday...

Tink and I just joined a Wed Nite league. So now we roll Wed,Thurs,Sat and Sunday starting in Oct. Missed practice last nite but both of us shot around our averages for the house we were in. Lot of folks we roll with on Sat were there last nite,so it's good we know folks in this league,too. Most of the nite was spent finding a line and being welcomed by everyone!

I'm still adjusting to this league. The shot has been different each week. Last week I scored well with my WMB but this week it was hooking at my feet. The midlanes were flying and rapidly got drier, even on the left side. I started well with my NM but after 3 brooklyns to finish game 1, I switched to my BW then quickly to my BWP. (Yes I adjusted with NM, first a 1 to 1, then another 1 to 1 towards the inside.) Overall poor spare shooting killed me in games 2 and 3. Spares are money in this league, literally.

Last night was a learning experience if nothing else.

I had the toxic rolling in the first game and had a good line, i ended up moving the second game in anticipation of a break down of oil, guess what? No breakdown at all i should have just played the same line all night. My coach (soon to be) came down after the second game and told me that i play deeper than anyone else that bowls in that league and that i should rarely have to move more than 2-3 boards, a night at least until the third game.

So last game i switched to the vibe and did ok. Im still working on throwing the vibe and getting used to its reaction. All in all i need to stop overthinking so much stuff and just go out and throw the ball the way i know i can.

Well last sat was scotch doubles nite and I got to double with Rowdy and another bowler we know. What a great time I had. Rowdy and I did really great We won high score for the night with a 245 for the first game. And I used the Gamebreaker for it With the other guy we rolled a 215 for the first game. Thanks bubba for the spare info. Also watched a video of Walter Ray in the pro shop and learned some more from it too. Got the chance to go for the $1,000.00 strike pot 2 time. Rowdy made his but I blew it. Got real nervous on my turn. All total rowdy and I had an 847 for 4 games. The high for the night was 957. so I don't fell bad. After all I rolled a total of 8 games at one time. Next week we will do better. Will let you know how we do on Wed. night. Boy am I proud of how good I rolled, and Rowdy was right on all night. :D

Shot 202 - 244 - 196 for a 642 with my BWP. Ball is incredibly strong off the outer edges of the fresh pattern, but really shows its true power when the lanes transition a bit. Should put my avg over 200 after 5 tough weeks of inconsistant shooting. :)

For Saturday night league: 169 229 201 = 599 series. One of my teammate and I won second game doubles with my 229(+18) & his 229(+32) = 508 score. I used my BW all 3 games. Had 3 splits in 1st game, spared a 5 7 split
and missed the 7 pin in 9th frame. Found my line, played outside the 10 to the 7 board on the right lane and 10 to the 5 left side. After 15 weeks, we are in 3d place with 33W & 27L. We took 3 to 1 from the first place team so will see our standings this week. My team is called "Whatevas" and have 3 men bowlers that are over 60, I am 53 & my woman bowler is 49 or 50.There is only 1 other team that has a 60+ male bowler and another team that has a 60+ woman bowler. My son Jacob's team is called "Young Gunz" and all them are between 20-25 and last week was sitting in 8th place out of 14 teams. <LOTS TO LEARN> LOL :cool: .

I'm slowing getting a feel for this league. My line held up through the end of the second game. I only had to move 2 or 3 boards. Then I made a terrible ball change and adjustment in game 3. I learned my lesson there. On this shot the middle dries up faster than the outside. Like an idiot I moved inside with the wrong ball game 3 and it got ugly. Towards the end of the set one of my teammates suggested that I move outside and I had a much better ball reaction. Next week I know. (and knowing is half the battle)

Wednesday I shot 204-166-225 (595 series) with my BWP, which is allright. I tried what BubbaRay had suggested. I fell into an old habit trying to rip the cover off the ball in the second game with the 166, otherwise it worked great.

We were tied for 2nd place this week but took all four last night, we are halfway thru the season right now.

I bowled today and did fairly well. My AVG 8 weeks ago was 107 it was 124 tonight when we started. I bowled the following.

141 (was trying to work an outside line down the left)

Our team was doing OK. Handicap league based on 210.
We were shooting in the 830's 1st 2 games and a 920 last game.

Sunday Night Couples: 153, 120, 127 for my first ever 400 series. Also, the 153 is my personal high for leagues. Kicked my hubby's @$$ by 30 pins overall...oh, and my average going in was a 108! I had a great night, but I really need to work on picking up those left side spares. I get the 10 pin about 80% of the time. I have it down pretty well, but the Widow is hooking way more than I estimate for those left side spares...but it's getting there. I have to sub tonight, so we'll see if I can fix that problem...

I was kind of ashamed to put my sport shot scores up here but here they are. 44 FOOT Pattern First game- 183, i was carrying everything. Rolled a bucket and put the 4 into the 9. Then i couldnt carry anything. 115-121-128. We hit carrydown that made it to like 50 feet. I am going to hit my inferno at 320 so when my passion isnt rolling, that will roll earlier and because theres still a swimming pool of oil in the heads.

When i pre-bowled for last week i went 203-224 on my way to 600 and they broke down and started hooking early and ended up with a 139:eek: I just made bad decisions for some reason. But practiced my left side spares after and i coulda shot 190 easy with that practice in that last game.

Well yesterday in my league I shot 523 (177, 148, 198.) I'm happy with it I guess, got my average up a couple a pins, but ticked off that I was doing so awsome on my 198 game in the beggining and screwed up a really good game by getting a split in the eighth. If I would have had like 2 more strikes I seriously would of got like a 240.

My current Average: 157.4 or somethin.

My goal average by the end of this league: 175+

Hey guys...haven't been on in a while, had a couple of crazy weeks.

Pre-bowled Saturday eve. for Wednesday afternoon leagues (son had a Halloween party @ school on Wednesday, and I had to be in attendance. Anyway, bowled a 141, 160, 127 for a 428 series (an all time high!!!!)

Sunday morning I woke up with a full blown head cold, still bowled couple's league Sunday evening, and learned that bowling with fluid in my inner ear is NOT fun at all...my balance was so off and I couldn't hit my mark for anything. My head felt like it was the size of a watermelon. Anyway, I bowled 111, 128, 106 for 345. THAT is the lowest series I have had since mid-October. I don't really think it hurt my average all that badly, but hubby was not pleased. He told me that I should've stayed home and "the team" could have just used my average...talk about pi$$y...oh well.
I am feeling back to normal now, so I should do a lot better this week, but I'm sure my team captain was pleased with the scores I put up for Wednesday.
Oh, and my Wednesday team is in first place right now! Since I have been sick, though, I am taking a week off, and will be back at the lanes Sunday evening. :D

First of all I most say the first night and first game I through my Cherry Vibe I shot a 300 right out the gate. I was blown away at the backend reaction on this ball. I recently joined the PBA, and will be applying for a staff position with Hammer come April.

Tonight, I bowled with my first 800 series with the Cherry Vibe:) I shot a 245, 268, and 290.

Didn't post on Monday, got tied up. Shot 201, 223,202 for a 626 with my BW. The shot held up all evening, but I just didn't carry. Tonight I threw the BW again, but slowed the ball speed just a little over the same line I shot on Monday with much better results. Threw from 10 through 5 at the arrows out to 3 and shot 257, 220, and 226 for a 703. Didn't have to move, just slight increase of ball speed to hold pocket in the last game. Hammer rules forever. :D

Thanks Bubbaray, had another good night tonight. A friend told me the shot had a lot more head oil in it yesterday, so I took a ball I usually only shoot on synthetics in for a much more aggressive reaction. We shoot on wood with a guardian overlay, and usually my Lane 1's are far too unpredictable and try to turn early all the time. Tonight my Cobalt Bomb was the right selection. The first game I shot the track through the 10 board out to about the 5, the second game the carry down didn't want to allow the ball to turn the corner. I moved my feet 4 boards right and rolled the ball right over the 5 board, which put me right back in the pocket. Shot 259, 199, and 235 for a 693. Two washouts in the second game before I read the move cost me dearly. Hammer still rules, so if they continue to leave this amount of oil for the standard shot, I will just alter the cover on my NMB a little and continue to march. The Hammer reaction is much more even and less over under in changing conditions.

I'll be honest and agree with you, since I have been using Hammer equipment and gave all my other brands away, I have never bowled better. the reaction out of Hammer ball is very predictable for my game and I have balls drill all different ways. They react as I thought they would .

Got back from league and i did good just had to move left in the last game and started pulling it a bit. I threw, 190 with 2 opens, 211 with 1 open, and a 147 with 4 opens in the first 5 frames:eek:

On Wednesday night league, with only a handful of games on my bws, I was able to manage 703 (223-267-213). Left a 3-10 split in the first game and slid it out to far to squeze it thru. 2nd game I was clean and only missed strikes in the 5th and 6th frames. The third game is when I had to start adjusting my line, left 2 splits back to back in the middle of the game when the ball was moving in too much. Worked around that and finished the game out pretty strong.

pretty much right at my average. I really don't know what to do to push myself to the next level. I don't miss spares and i make most of the splits that i should make. Its really start to get to me because i want to be a better bowler but it feels like i can't really find that one thing to make me break through.

If something on your grip doesnt feel right, get that changed.

Also, judging from your scores you are missing 1-3 spares a game, work on that, I have the EXACT same problem.

I recently did get my pitch changed which is allowing me to get more ball speed which had increased my strike percentage, it just feels like i am never going to get better. So frustrating.

xGatez, I think you are doing great. I only average 158 and yesterday I shot 463 174-129:eek: -160! I am not doing good at all. If you get a more positive attitude, I beleive you will be shooting above you'r average all the time and it looks like you did if you'r average is 174 and you shot around 550. Most weeks I shoot right around 500, but since I have been having a bad attitude about it, my scores keep having good first games but then horrible games for the next two. I need to increase my attitude. Since you'r attitude is not bad but not very positive I think if you were a little more positive you would be averaging 200 next season. You are doing great dude!

...and for my part, I definetely gotta increase my attitude and concentration. I shot 463 yesterday:eek: :eek: . I beleive I may be a little in a rush to be a top notch bowler, but I keep forgetting that I only started bowling in April. I think I must not go to league every week expecting to shoot 700 series and 250 games all the time, and I just need to do my best and maybe I will acheive these before I know it. I also need to stop being so competitive. Well my average is now around 157.5 do to my series yesterday, and I hope that bowling like that stops once I change my attitude.I just gotta wait for the right time and not be in so much of a rush.

I seriously have to change my attitude in my sport shot league. My average is 139 and today i shot a 140-146-160-164 and i kept getting mad at my self. I am going to have to go into the next time we bowl in with a better attitude or something. IDK wut to do but i have a proposition for everybody here.

You dont need more revs. The best thing to do on sport shots is get the ball rolling off your hand instead of spinning. Try to not "hit" the ball as much. This will get the ball to read the midlane more consistantly and misses wont be as bad.

when shooting on tougher shots, you prolly dont want to have too many revs like Blue said...look at WRW, he doesnt have too many at all, he just lets the ball go at its target. Basically, when you rev the ball alot, you might have a tendency to guide the ball to its target, when you want to let the ball roll smooth and at its target on its own(right?)

Accuracy like WRW is a great place to start,but you have to be brutally honest with yourself on this one. It's not one of those "close enough" deals. Either you hit the ONE board you were aiming at or you didn't. Most bowlers can't or won't be that honest with themselves. They'll say "I got the strike,who cares?" If you missed the mark,you only got lucky,not good. I'd rather be good. Well the equipment carries good when i play the right line and hit the pocket, its just that everybody is playing out side near 3 and it looks like they have a lot more room. I had to hit exact on the dot to strike.

I threw the ball well last night but just couldnt carry I left 12 or 14 7 pins last night and just couldnt pick them up, I might have made 7. So on a night that coul have been 7something, I get my lowest series in my two years bowling in this league of 562.

I thought you were throwing the ball very very well for playing a line you do not normally play. You were very consistant but like you said , had a hard time carrying. But we all have those night you know that. I bet nest week you come back with 700.


BTW I don't think I can bowl Fri. My left hip has a lump on it the size of a plum. What ever I pulled I felt it snap last night. It even is hindering my normal walk.

Finally bowled a good series all at average or over. My average is 168 and i threw 168, 213, 172. We bowled on the worst carrying pair on the house, 1 and 2. I think anywhere between 20-30 ten pins were left and i left 9. Picked up 3:( I gotta remember not to drop my shoulder and turn my body right when i shoot it.

I just came back from my league this morning. Are team is in 2nd to last, but that because I'm brand new to the team.:D The three games are a 221, 202, and a 245. I had a high series of a 668.:D

After not using the 10 minute practice time because of not knowing if team wasn't showing up or not, and being put on a new team instead, I had my best night by far in the league. Had a 157 first game, a 175 second game, and a 156 third game.

So I was stoked, the whole night was stress free, full of fun and joking around between our team and the team we was bowling against. Fun was had by all, and some new friendships was made as well. Most importantly, I found my line at the 12board to where I can consistantly hit the pocket and was getting more strikes as well.

And we took 3 of 4 points.

I finally was able to fix game t his week bowling a 166 140 and a 125. Yes it went down hill but I still went up 3 pins and that is what I'm happy about. Hopefully I can keep this up with something higher than the 125, but i'm still happy with this. ^_^

decent night

188 first game, i think not using so much warm up time has been helping me, my two best league nights i only threw two practice balls both times. I was getting insane breaks and getting tons of Brooklyn strikes. I usually try to start with my Anger but i think its just too much ball with my trick layout on it.

155 second game was mostly about having a 15 minute smoking break by the other team, i was warned before hand by other teams who have bowled these guys before, they are known for their super long smoke breaks in between games. That kind of threw me off, but i ended strong using my toxic.

170 third game was me just doing what i needed to do, i used my toxic again and ended up shooting pretty well but a pocket 7-10 in the 8th kind of threw this game away.

All in all a good showing, as i am picking up my speed and finding that my strike percentage goes up with it.

w00t - got my high score during league tonight - a 242. Snag was that I used only my Track and my Hammers are now mightily pissed off as they live in my locker and the Track only showed up tonight fresh from it's home in my wardrobe.

I've brought them home for a bit of a rest but they're not happy. I can tell :(

Bowled a real good day today. And with a cold, i started to hook too much and i made a bad adjustment. I started with the front 8, was doing bad in practice, then my friend told me to move for the first ball of the first game, and threw the front 8. Then left a baby split and opened. Ended with a 256. Then a 200. Then a 170 for my first ever sanctioned 600 with a 626.

Ok, I bowled in my youth league today. I did ok with a 142, 131, and a 134. My avg went up by a pin or so. My scores themselves I can't say are really goin up too much, but atleast my consistency is. At least I'm benefiting in one way. Also, my team is still in 1st place, and has been the entire league.

After averaging a 145 for my 4 practice games, I had a tough first game finding the pocket and sometimes the BW would just want to go straight but ended up with a hard fought 118.

Second game started the way, and after 3 frames switched to the BWP and ended with a 175 throwing from the 10 board or the 12 board.

Third game, I was having problems hitting my 12 board mark, and was turning my wrist at last second causing my to hit the 15 board instead and ball going left. Managed to fix it after a few frames and go bak to business, and finished with a 130.

As a team, we took 3/4 points losing the first game by only 11 points, which we would've won if I was doing as good as I was in practice.

My new team from last week jumped from the 8th spot to the 4th spot in the league, and looking forward to see how we did after yesterday's games.

Nice series in league tonight using Toxic that was just re-drilled to address some bridge cracking issues.

709 = 245, 242 and 222 having one open all night. Picked up all right side spares with spare ball (10 pin twice and 3,6, 10!).

Raised average to 204 after slow start this season. Pro-shop wet polished to 1000 and then abraloned at 4000. Ball hit hard and I was able to play pretty far right all night long!

That's 2 700s in two weeks. Time to start shooting scary high and getting some honor scores!
