When you bowl, where do you look on the lane? I try to look at the arrows most of the time, but it feels most comfortable to keep my eyes at the foul line cus I like watching my ball roll the whole way down the lane. Where do you look?

I have a strange way of doing this. When I set myself on the approach, I look at what arrow I want the ball to roll over. Then I draw my eyes down the lane and pic a board out at about 50 ft. ususally the 10th board. Then a draw another line with my eys to the 1-3 pocket.

So what I am exactly doing is visualizing the line from the arrows to the pocket on the lane. , looking at the (4th) arrow exending the line to the 10th board and then to the pocket. I do this twice with my eyes . Works well for me.

I look at the arrows but if im having a hard time fallowing through or if I want to get the ball farther down lane I spot about 10 feet past the arrows. If I want to get the ball down earlier and slow my speed down I look at the dots about 4 feet before the arrows.Works for me.

I find it awkward looking at the arrows - I aim for the 6-pin and stand on whichever board works. I got lucky the other night and found a good line with my first delivery (23) and stayed with it all night. Normally though I'm struggling to find a good line and move anywhere between 15 and 27 and therefore find it difficult to get any consistency in my shot.

I look at the arrows but I try not to focus so intensely on them. If I line up right with my feet and pick my mark, I'll most often hit it.

The line you found the other night make that your staring point you next outing. While it may seem logical to want to look at the pins, since they're what you're trying to hit, the truth is, that is the hardest way to go about finding a target to shoot at.

Pick a spot on the alley itself, maybe an arrow or a dot. You don't look at the pins at all, as much as you might be tempted to do so. Instead, you look at the spot and continue looking at it as you release the ball, never taking one look at the pins until after the ball is rolled and heading down the alley. Then you can look to see what you've hit.

You have to first understand something about distance and accuracy. When you fire a gun, the closer you are to the target, the more accurate your shot is going to be. As the target gets farther away it becomes harder to hit it because of the distance. Think about it. If you're playing darts and have a dart board 6 inches in front of you, you're going to hit the bulls-eye more often than if it's 20 feet away. Well, it's the same thing with bowling. It's much easier to hit a spot on the lane a foot in front of you than it is to hit pins that are 60 feet or so away.

If you're aiming at the second arrow from the right on your first shot and the ball lands to the left of the head pin, then obviously you need to move. Well, it's a lot easier to hit the spot that you're aiming for, in order to hit that one-three pocket, than it is to try to look at pins 60 feet away. If you keep hitting that same spot, the ball is going to hit the same place down the alley as long as the conditions don't change and you keep the ball speed the same.

I generally look at the arrows, starting with my right foot on center dot (right handed) and throwing inbetween second and third arrows. If I have problems with the ball starting too early, I look down lane around where the ball normally breaks, and it allows me to throw it longer somehow, mental change surely.

I look at the arrows first then look down to where i want my ball to break at..usually across 3rd arrow out to 5 <right handed> with my pearl..good for 2 games then I have to go waaaay left shooting across center arrow out to about 10

I look at arrows and generally do the same thing as bubba. i draw a line to where i want the ball to hook and draw into the pocket, then i go back and look at where i want it hook and throw. works well for me

Since I already know where the breakpoint is gonna be,all I do is look at the point somewhere in the arrows that I want to roll the ball over. Never, ever, ever take your eyes off of that spot. Make your delivery, follow thru, and watch where the ball goes in relation to your mark. That way if you need an adjustment, you'll know which way to go with it. The only time I look at the pins are when I step on the approach to see if it's a full rack, and after just before the ball hits them. One,to see if the ball hooked properly and Two,to see how the ball finishes. Make adjustments as necessary.

I have a spot at the foul line that I watch.

Well, I look at the pins usually around the ten pin or between the ten and six. Then I draw a line back to my right hand (the ball) and as soon as my eyes see the dots just past the foul line I go using the dots as my target. It might seem weird but it really does work and looking closer to you seems to help keep your arm swing very free. Might not work for everyone but its worth a shot. I wrote down some of these others and I will try them also.:D

Basically I try to do as rowdy does. This year so far I have been able to really tell more or less where I am going wrong, But man that Hammer really chews pins if I miss a board either way. Gotta love it!

Well last night I went bowling and started right at my target when I bowled and I hit the pocket every time, but just left ten pins all the time. It is really important for your consistancy but I didn't really think that before.

look at the arrows first, imagine a line all the way up to the approach and look at the the foul line for my entire approach, after release follow ball to the arrows. not the best way to do it, but im consistent hitting my mark, my hand eye coordination isnt good enough to look straight at the arrows through my approach

Last few weeks, it's been this blonde in short shorts that is a major distraction to most people in general, since that's why her team has her for anyway. And it works. It dont matter where she's at, she's a distraction.
