View Full Version : G/f drama in the new league

My new league is going on it's 3rd week this friday, the g/f hasn't been able to bowl yet because of a broken ankle and another health issue that was taken care of today. The cast comes off this thursday, so she would be able to bowl finally.

The first week started with her being a absent bowler, and the other 3 and myself to cover the slack and we managed to win all 4 points that night. The second week because of her latest health issue and not knowing how long it would last, I replaced her with someone who the rest of us knew from the other league and holds down a 235+ average.

Although the league is looking for one more team and might even expand depending on the captain's vote, she is basically teamless for now and wants to file a complaint with the league because she can't bowl with me. I paid for her usbc membership the first week, but she didn't give any further money for either the first or second week.

After explaining to her since last friday, that the league never had a team using a absent bowler for a team to cover a person for the first 3 weeks to month and that they woul perfer to have someone who was able to bowl over doing that. She flew off the deep end and began her "it's all about me" garbage and started to get down because of it.

I explained to her that she needed to put herself in the team's position and that it wasn't fair to the other 4 people to have to risk losing a series becasue she wasn't there to do her part. Finally today it sank in, and she will be there for the league friday and hopefully with a few teammates to try to kick my butt she says.

Going into the 3rd week, my team is in first place and last week averaged over 1000 pins per game, and my average increased over what it was last league which was my first, from a 122 to a 143 and hopefully by leagues end (which has a long way to go) I'll be averaging a 170 which is my goal.

Now I got to hope that the curse of the g/f doesn't come into play for me.

Oh boy,did you ever step in it! You picked a bowling team over your girlfriend? She'll make you pay and pay and pay and pay and pay........I'm sure you're getting the idea by now. You better do the candy, flowers, nice dinner and uptown hotel thing to try and make amends. Either that or I'd start checking my finger holes and shoes real close from now on!!

Your damn right I did :)

She hasn't bowled in over 6 months when she shot a 44 in a game at the Santa Fe casino and honestly I got tired of her complaining and whinning that it's not fair that she can't bowl and I can. Like it's my fault she shifted her weight when Hammer Dawg was being petted by the neighbor after she walked her, and broke her ankle.

If I want drama, I'll watch charmed.

Also, for the rest of this month she wil have to continue to use a house ball, because I won't be picking up hers until next month, so it will take her a few weeks just to get use to not only the ball but not having a cast on her ankle and getting past the mental thing about how she might break it again whil bowling.

As for all that wine and dine stuff, ain't gonna happen. She can see me in first place while she's looking up from the bottom.

LOL it's not that easy, since she doesn't have a credit card, and I have all the Hamer bowling equipment I need (for now). You how hard it is to find a woman that throws Hammer? Once I find one, then I'll replace her because she choose to go with big B over Hammer.

Hey Sin if she keeps whining send her my way. A true G/F or bowler would understand. I gave up 2 leagues this summer. I didn't think it would be fair to any team if my back got to bad and I started and then couldn't bowl. Didn't have a pain doc back then for my meds. You did the right thing. Tell her that even if she can't bowl with you she should have come and watched and meet everyone. That way when she could bowl again if there was a vacancy on a team she could have slipped right in.

Don't agree with everyone on the wine and dine thing. Sounds to me like you didn't picke bowling over her. She just got mad cause you didn't hold the spot. Besides its called team bowling for a reason. Everyone has to pull their weight on this. So good luck in the league and congrats on being on the top. Besides if she does show up with her own team you can always go for the side bet thing between just you and her. LOL :)

Personally call me a Girl if you like, But I bowl on the league with my wife so as we can spend time together. I work 10pm-6:30am. And we haredly see one another, so for us it is a night to escape for awhile.

That's why I joined a couples league with my wife. First league she's been in. Not competitive at all. This week she threw her hi game of 116. She was very happy with it. So was I because I wasn't hearing her complain (that game). We have a great time together, even when she throws 4 gutter balls in a row and swears she is not doing anything wrong. She even gets on me because my average is 4the highest. I tell her it's my practice night.

BTW on the "how many roses because I screwed up chart", how many for picking bowling over the g/f?

Thanks Tink.

Part of the problem was that during the last league, she would show up and becasue she knows my teammates and has known them for a long time, they would pawn off the 6 month old boy, a 2 year old girl, and even a 6-7 year old boy for her to watch while they went to go smoke. And becasue this was going on during a game, she never told me about it when it until after the game was over.

The 2 year old is a pepsi-aholic, me and the g/f show up with these 100 oz mugs of either tea or pepsi, and this runt would head straight over to it and start enhaling it, even after telling her mom to keep her ass away from it. Well, this runt would cry and cry some more until they got her a pepsi of her own.

After that, I told them all that I will not have the g/f watch their kids at any given time and that she came to bowling for me and not them to abuse. Then it stopped.

Now that I'm the team captain, I made it very clear that no kids wuld be around where the team was during the league and that they can stay where the spectators are, and if they didnt like it then they could leave the team and I can find other people to replace them.

As for the g/f and this league, althoug she wanted to be on my team and I wanted her on it, it wasn't fair to myself or the team to continue being short handed, which is why I recruited the other person.

After I explained for the last time to her to use this league to get her game back and get use to her new ball as of next month, and next league she could be on my team, she finally had it sink in and said ok.

I didnt want to have any issues caused for the league because it has been around for a long time and I didnt want to deal with any further issues with her because of it and that she needed to put it behind her or she will find herself without a team next season as well.

Steeler-Tink says it's a dozen roses of ASSORTED colors, plus she gets to pick where y'all go for an evening. BTW-She says no dozen of red roses only. They are for a different time and meaning. She also says it has to be a real date. As in you gotta call her up and ask her out and then show up at the door with the roses. Then go where SHE picks. Tink says this is good for MAJOR "Get What You Want at The End of The Night" points!:) She also wants to know how it goes.

Well it seems I made the right choice afterall, the g/f went to the doctor today and found out that her ankle didnt heal very well, so she's in a nother cast for another 4 weeks unfortantly.

While I did want her to be on my team, and she was infact suppost to be the captain for it this season, with the issues between breaking her ankle and the bleeding from something different, I figured it would be a while before she was able to even bowl.

I had to become captain because of the fact that the people who was on my team last seaon -1 are two of the people on the team this season, and I didnt have much choice since I did need at least one woman on the team, and then I drafted a 190+ bowler when he hasn't drank too much as well as the newest peron who is a 235 average after last week, and his first with us.

These two people was on the team that won the league last season, and since this is a 5 person per team league this season compared to 4, I'm glad to have them both around.

Glad it worked out . However I think it could have been handled differently. We had a person that was going to miss the first 6 weeks of the league because of surgery. We picked up a person to sub for those 6 weeks and then be the 6th member of the team to cover when people had to work etc. They actually got enough games in the qualify for league awards.
