Well Rowdy has been posting my scores for me. My Next goal on this was to get a 150. But tonite in practice I did better. I got a 165!!!! Was really excited. Let some opens in the beging(1st open, 2nd,spare, 3rd Spare 4th spare), but about the 5th frame I started with a strike. Got one in the 6th, 7th, and 8th too. My first 4 bagger in 4 years. I am proud to say that I am very happy with my progress. And I hope to get that 175 next. The on to a 200. Then from there who knows.
Hope everyone else is doing as good too.:D

She forgot to add that she pulled this off in heavy oil, too! She was also up by 2 in the 8th frame! Had to roll some strikes to shut her out. That Anger was smackin' the pins around! I'm so proud of you,Sweetie Pie!:)

Congrats Tink, hope you bring that 4 bagger with you to the league, and get that 200 so you can skip the 175. Word of advice, when your feeling it and doing very well, don't start show-boating. It happened last week to a teammate of mine and when he needed a good first ball, he threw for 4 and was lucky enough to pick up the spare, which gave him his first ever 200 game.
He ended up with a 202.

Thanks everyone. Start a new league on Wed. night. That means league on Wed., Thurs., and the mixed doubles on Sat nite. Will keep posting the scores and let everyone know. BTW does this mean I am a bowling junkie too?:D
Still working hard on getting those spares. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Got the cross over for the 10 and can hit the seven, but still trying to figure the line on the rest.

An old saying in bowling is, "make the spares, the strikes will come." This is especially good advice for new bowlers. There are 1,023 potential spare combinations. But don't be alarmed. The vast majority of those spare possibilities you will never face. While there are a couple of dozen "normal" spare combinations, they can be solved by using a minimum of targets and angles.
The first rule of spare shooting involves simple geometry. It is the cross-law principle. When pins are on the left side of the lane, the best starting position is on the right-and vice-versa. Practice four separate spare shots or lines using the cross-lane technique. You develop a separate spare line for each of the back row of pins (7, 8, 9 and 10). There is only one other spare fine to choose from. That is the original line used on the first ball. Any spare combination can be negotiated using one of those five lines.
For example, the line needed for a right-hander to pick up a 1-2-4 leave mimics the line needed to convert the 8-pin. That's because the 8-pin should be positioned directly behind the 2-pin, if all those pins were standing. The 3-6 spare can be converted by using the 9-pin. Any spare leave in which the 5-pin is the key is best made by throwing the ball as if you were going for a strike.
The line for any back row spare shot should do across the third or fourth (middle) arrow or somewhere in between. The stance position varies for each shot. It does not take tricky board counting formulas to become a good spare shooter. Rather, it is the ability to mentally see a cross-lane ball path and execute the shot the way you see it. You'll get better at executing these shots from practice and experience.
Picking up splits presents a much greater challenge. The margin for error to get one pin to slide into another is less than a half inch. Yes, making splits takes a very precise shot-and luck! Even though spare shooting may lack glamour, it should not be overlooked. Learning to make spares is the surest way to improve your scores.

Thanks Bubba gonna print them out so I can take them with me.:)
On another note- last nite I didn't do it. First nite in the new league and I couldn't get anything to go right for me. Not the bowling balls fault, for some reason I just couldn't get comfortable. Sorta went like this 1st game-117, 2nd game-88, 3rd game-108. :( Got a double in the second game but couldn't find the line or the pocket or the right way to get the job done. Hopeing to do better in tonites league will let you all know.

BTW why are the feet aimed the way the are for the shot positions?
BTW why are the feet aimed the way the are for the shot positions?
The short answer is because you want to walk parallel to your target line and be square to your target at the line.

Great job on reaching a goal! :D
As far as spares, Bubba has some great advice. To go along with it, here's another good site to check out. I use their Spare System with pretty good results.

Thanks. Went to the Thurs. league tonite. Well the first practice throw was a real crowd pleaser. My slide foot came to a dead stop. Wish I had come to a stop. All I can say is the middle of the lane had heavy oil on it. Got Rowdy to take off the shoes and crawled backwards very carefully so I wouldn't get any oil on the approaches. Well after that I sat for a while and got my slide shoe in oder. Then came the first game. Bubba thanks for the help on the cross-over. I was able to pick up more spares then ususal tonite. Also moved back a half step and got some good strikes in.Can't remember the scores right now, but I will get them and post em tommorow. Just wanted to say thanks for the help everyone and that it did work for me anyway.:D

Tink, Boy oh boy . Glad you didn't get seriously hurt when you stick and fell. I saw some people get hurt bad when that happened.
Now for the rest of your night. Good shooting and being able to make more spares than the last outing. Moving back help out when you left some 10's standing . Keep up the good work girl and you will see those score rise in no time.

Congrat Tinkerbell. I just knew you could do it. I remember along time ago when Rowdy said he was buying you a new ball I told him in to time you will beat him. Sorry Rowdy. Real nice bowling Tink. Tink , like I always say, If I give someone advice and it improves their game, that is the biggest satisfaction for me.
But remember one thing, I can give advice or help but remember YOU threw the ball and made the best outof the help. I am happy for you Tink. Keep up the great work and tell Rowdy I said HI!

As always, when she's happy she leaves out all the good parts.
Bubba she was picking up all the single pin spares that used to kick her butt a couple of months ago! She actually started a game clean to the 7th!! Before by the third she'd have had an open. She picks up spares with ease now,not the nail biters she used to throw!!! I'm sooo proud of the way she bowls now. You can see the confidence in her swing and score. Bubba, thanks for all the help you've given her!! I owe you,big time!!!
