Ok I got a hammer no mercy last winter and I have been doing pretty well with it. Just started league a couple weeks ago for the first time. I have a 179 avg so far but seems I hit the poket well but leave a lot of 10 pins. I was just wondering what if anything I can do to not leave as many. Seems that it it is worse on lanes that have been bowled on previously. I have been working on my release to get it better and get a few more revs but just don't seem to get the carry needed. Thanks Dave.

What is you clean regiment like? Do you clean the after bowling each night?
Might be time for a bath or resurfacing. Do you have any idea how many games you have bowled since you got the ball? Wood lanes will cause a ball to wear faster.

Leaving ten pins are a bummer for anyone. But are they week tens or solid tens where the 6 pin goes right around the 10 ? It all may be just changing the entry angle of the ball when it enters the pocket. You can try and move back a half step on the approach and see if that helps. If the ball hits the 1-3 pocket at the exactime your chances of leaing 10 pins are good. The ball must git the head pina fraction of a second before the 3 pin . Try and move back alittle on the approach and see if that hepls. Or adjust your spot just a tad and try and get that ball to come in at little sharper angle.

Yea Bubba's right on the move to make a have step backwards. But you said that you dont have many revs.Which kinda reminds me of my father who doesnt have many either and has a very hard time with 7 pins(lefty). What he does is moves either moves two boards right and tries for a light swish hit or 1 board left and tries to get it more direct. But to be honest when I'm leavin solid 7's I dont really move unless I feel I have to becuase When your in the pocket sooner or later those pins are gonna trip out or fall and your gonna have a huge night, so try what everyone says but just keep your head up and keep tryin.Your new to the game so dont get discouraged.

Since you said that the lanes have been previously bowled on, I would look at putting a bit of polish or take a 4000 abralon to it. The ball could be burning up and not retaining energy for the hit on the backend which would lead to your 10-pins.

I leave ten pins a bit too.. I really don't know why I'm pretty sure it's got something to do with my ball's weaker snap or something.

Also if the ball comes in alittle late you will leave numerous 10's

Why move back a half step instead of foward? Is the difference really that big? I ask cause I leave the ten. Actullay if I was playing 9 no tap I think sometimes I could win going away. :D

Tink, by moving back 1/2 step will make the ball come in alittle higher thus triping the ten pin. A ball that hits the 1-3 or 1-2 for lefties that comes in just a tad late will 9 out of ten time leave a ten. Makeing the ball come that little bit higher does the trick

I just bought my wife a Hammer No Mercy Beatin about a week ago. On day 5, she won $1,000 in our local San Diego NABI Tournament. Last night, she bowled her very first "300" game and her first "713" 3-game series in our Wednesday Night Mixed League at Admiral Robinson Bowling Center.
This ball goes long and strong. She has a 14-lb ball with the fingertips drilled right below the top of the pin. She carries a 183 book average. Last night, she threw the ball at the 15th board , breaking at the 10 board around the 40 foot distance from the foul line.
Everyone who loves a "Hammer" should get themselves a "Hammer No Mercy Beatin"!!! I'm so impressed with this ball I gotta have one for myself, too!!!

Homer :
Tell your wife I said congratulations on her series and first 300. I take it she's not gonna part with that ball for awhile. By thew sounds of it she likes to swing the ball a bit huh? Congrats again and welcome to the Hammer message board. Look forward to seeing you often.

Agreed, this ball is amazing. I got one in 14lbs to try and combat some arm pain I've had over the summer. (half my equipment is 14 half is 15) and this ball hits harder than any other ball I've ever thrown. I did try a buddies BWP at 16lbs, It hit almost as hard as my NMB. Actually I think that will be my next ball unless they make a pearl No Mercy...
