View Full Version : Ball For Girlfriend
I'm thinking of getting a Black Widow Solid for my girlfriend as part of her birthday present. She currently throws a 12 lbs Dynothane Crisis Pearl and says it's getting too light for her. I will only buy her a hammer. Aren't the cores in the 13 pounders the Diesel cores instead of the gas mask? If so I'm going to get a 14 pounder for her. She'll have to get used to the weight. I'm thinking I'll pick myself up one for myself so I don't get BW envy.
Another question I have is about the pin, cg, and mb. Should the three be aligned a certain way? Parallel? I've seen some with the cg off to the right or left but I have no idea.
All help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

It all depends on how she bowls. How is her current ball drilled? What is her form like? And how much does her current ball hook? I got my wife a Cherry Vibe with a stacked drill layout and it rocks...for her. If I threw it, it would hook so hard it might jump into the next lane over- assuming I could get my fingers into it.
The BW's are a serious ball. As far as I know they all have a gasmask core. You may want to look into the BW Pearl...it seems to be a more popular choice for people who are just getting one Widow ball. It's the less aggressive of the two and maybe more versitale. I only use my BWS for the first game and then switch the BWP for the last two games. The BWS starts to go crazy after the oil gets fried.

Only 14lb. and up, he was right in his statement about the Diesel cores...
At least from what I have been told.
Although every one seems to think this is a bad thing...the Diesel core is fantastic...probly why they use it.

i'd get her a BWP.
1) She's a girl, the BWP is pretty, you dont want her drawn into Storm and their...froofroosmellybawls.
2) if it isnt enough hook, you can knock off the polish for quite a bit more hook

BWP...I agree, of course I can't say enough good about mine. Why does Storm do that? I just don't understand. I know they say it's kinda like aromatherapy for bowlers, but c'mon...

Just got my wife a Cherry Vibe, she kept telling me that a 13lb ball was too heavy for her to throw, well I didn't tell her the new Cherry Vibe is 13lbs,she used it in our league Thursday night and loves it. She had her best 3games of the year
My Thanks to BubbaRay for his drilling recomendation, the ball does exactly what the wife wanted, hooks more, hits the pins harder and carries a lot better

I'd go with the solid. That way she can match the color of the spider to her finger nail polish before you go out! You know how critical color coordination is. Of course this adds 90 minutes to the date prep time but presentation is everything. Right now mine is fire engine red with a mix of silver metal flake.
kids poke fun at me for buying nail polish for the ball but why not have fun with it??
I was gonna say, it sounds like a great deal... straight swap - ball for girlfriend!!! HAHA!!

Are you sure on this? I've had a bit of a trawl on the websites and as far as I can see they're all gas mask.
Doesn't matter either way really but.....

Just re-read the title of this thread and I won't tell you what immediately sprang to mind http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/stidder/icon_twisted.gif:p
