well, I went and got some coaching today. I got GREAT advice with my footwork (constantly a problem, no longer I have it nailed in my head now) but as for the way I throw....I had no clue I have a high backswing because I dont muscle any part of my throw.

Well, the coach told me, DO NOT cup your wrist, he had me completely flatten out, that was okay with me since I can still bowl well like this. Next thing he said my back swing was too high. Then he asked me to take down the backswing, i could not unless I held the ball down by my legs and had the ball overhook like all hell. After that, he watched me bowl and told me to muscle the ball downwards instead of letting it fall. That does against everything I've been told ever about a freeswing, its like he's trying to tell me to uncup the wrist to get rid of possibilities of tendonitis and then telling me to force the backswing and throw from my elbow.

What does you all thinks?

Wow, I do agree with you. I would definately keep the free swing. I never pull the ball through when bowling well. I have never heard this taught before. You can adjust your back swing and ball speed without pulling the ball through. Just my opinion, Stay with the free swing !

Methinks you need a new coach. If you're not supposed to cup your wrist, how come they sell all those wrist things that do just that? The height of your backswing is determined by a number of things, but if you're timing is good where it was, leave it alone. It's supposed to free fall, not be muscled down. Muscling will lead to squeezing the ball, which will put the ball off line. Sounds like he was confusing a bowling and a golf swing.

Is he a certified coach? I have never ever heard of a coach tell someone to muscle the ball. You know as well as I, the backswing is one fluant motion. No muscling involved. I'd start looking for a new coach.

Eightball-thats where I got all my info to change my armswing to extremely free

I want a new coach, but my mom and dad dont know much about bowling, and they think that if someone brands themselves with the title of coach, that they are one.

Oh yeah, I went ahead and got the Big One. I love that thing, i think its 10-12 boards stronger than my Vibe.
