Instead of getting a plastic spare ball in a month I am probably gonna search for an old Black Hammer, Blue Hammer, Red Hammer Pearl or some other old Fable thing. The reason is, because they would pick up ten pins very easily even if they had some revs and they would work excelent on dry lanes. Any one think this would be a good idea? I would just serach fr one to come across the shelves or maybe find a new one on ebay or something.

Matt they would be a very good thing to use. And its Faball. I got mine from the racks from somebody that leaves it.

Yeah I live near a bowling alley that has lots of old balls on the shelves. Maybe I'll come across one. If I ever see anything Faball I will get it. I just don't think it would be very fun to use my Doom on very very dry conditions, especcially with the big hook I throw with it on oily conditions.

hehe, learn to kill all of the rev and rotation on the Doom to throw at 10's I went up against someone who learned that, that is a useful skill, especially if the lanes are extremely dry to the point a urethane ball is overhooking for the 10

I do reccomend getting a plastic ball and throwing it as straight as possible for all pins. If and when you do sport and PBA shots you will not want to screw with hooking the ball to any spares. Especially if the ball grips at all.

I know how to do that with my Doom, but the weight block still my it hook about 10 boards if thrown straight.

not if you take out all of the hand in the ball, break the wrist, and throw harder.

I have a friend who does it with an Action and it still doesnt move a board.

I tried that, and I do it very, very VERRRY inconsistantly. I just don't have much control by doing that. My coach just said don't worry about, cus I pick up ten pins fine with my Power Groove.

I'd still work on doing that though, it will help alot, urethane will move on you trust me. I picked up a LT-48 thinking that I could do the same. HELL NO I couldnt. It hooks as long as you put ANY rotation on it. with urethane, make sure to come straight up the back.

Just a thought. Plastic balls will deflect the pins in a different way. Making the possibility of bouncing pins around and picking up splits better.

I would just get a plastic ball, i honestly tried that idea that you are talking about, i found an old Faball red pearl, and i ended up switching to plastic. Plastic just takes all the thinking out of spare shooting, also it makes it so that you never have to change your shot depending on lane conditions.

Then you have to learn how to flatten out still

Oh yea, no doubt. It's definably necessary to learn that. Even, with that though it wouldn't hurt to have a ball that won't rev up.

Yea, i actually throw my inferno at spares because the grips good and i can flatten the wrist out.

get a bluedot, they roll the straightest of all spare balls, just my two cents, I got a white dot and I hate it, it hooks. I throw my dad's white dot from the 70's and it is a harder shell and it rolls straighter, just like a bluedot will

All said and done, you simply can't beat a White Dot (unless of course you buy a Blue Dot).

I got rid of it, my friend need a first ball and his span is really close to mine so i gave it to him. Then my pro shop guy gave me my target zone for free.

Matt you want a Faball? The house I roll at has a bunch in a back room. They told me I could have 'em all. Let me get a list of 'em and you can pick out what you need.
