I have learned so much about the different ways a ball can be drilled (thankyou Bubba Ray) but still have no idea how I want my BWP drilled. Please help.

Well what you wanna do is take the ball up to youre local pro shop. Show him how you throw your ball and tell him what you want your BWP to do. He will know exactly whats right for you.

Like cashbowl said, if you trust your proshop guy, let him evaluate you game and style and he will do what's best for you.

Hit the pins and get me strikes. No just kidding. Hook, but I will show the proshop guy how I bowl and he will know what to do I trust him.

Well if you want it to go long u should drill it skid/flip. Or you could drill it for early hook if u have a lot of speed.

The most common drilling for this ball that I have seen Is the skid/flip drilling.

How fast is considered fast cause when the conditions are right I can bowl from 15.5-16.5. I dont know whats considered fast.

That's around medium speed, from what I understand 15-18 is medium 19+ is fast

I went with drilling #1 for my BWP.

Depending on what type of condition is out there when you bowl, usually med-heavy oil / the Skid/Flip #1 pattern seems to be the popular drill pattern.
But if you usually have heavy oil I would suggest the #3 drill pattern.

Why not just give him a demo of you bowling with the Tornado, tell him what you want to get from the BWP and let him decide on how to drill it?

Agree w/ Bubba on the #3 as a base line start and let the driller watch your game and adjust from there. If you're in any oil at all, the #1 on the pearl may go too long. I have close to a #3 drill on my BWS and its far more consistant to the pocket than the #1 drill on my BWP on the same lane and oil. I believe it's popular consensus that the BWS is used in the earlier games where there is more oil and the BWP comes out of the bag when the oil dries out.
I know you really really want a perl, but the BWS may be an overall better choice for all lane conditions. You can always take you hand out of the BWS if it gets really dry.

Adressing TopGuns last comment, I heard the BWP is the better one if you are only going to be getting one of the Widows and if it gets to dry I only have one ball unless I dont trade in my Tornado.

I agree with most that have posted regarding this.Being a pro shop operator for 25+ years, you CAN NOT drill a ball targeted for a certain reaction until you watch the customer bowl, determine his axis co-ordinates,etc.There are many things that need to be answered prior to putting the ball in the press to put holes in it.And something i have stressed, even with a local former touring pro from my area, the pin,cg,and mb distance from your PAP is whats important, not "put the pin above and between the fingers",put the pin just right of the ring finger, etc.Although those pin placements may be fine for a certain player, your axis co-ordinates MOST LIKELY are not the same as his.Bubbaray,I am sure you know who I mean.IT JUST DOESNT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!Bottom line,go to your pro shop guy and get him to watch you bowl, find your axis co-ordinates and most importantly, spend time with you, after all you could just take it to Dicks Sporting goods and get it drilled. You have made an investment ,let your proshop make an investment also, spend time with you,the customer. If the ball was purchased from the internet, that could be tough. When a customer buys a ball off the internet,he is only asking for your knowledge as far as drilling. You put no trust in him when you wanted to make the investment(buying the ball). Some day I will post my feelings on internet sales, but it will have to be a day when I have LOTS of time.Just hope the pro shop will even drill it.I have refused to drill 3-4 internet balls already this year,Bad pins,6 oz top weights, bad coverstocks etc.We as pro shop operators do have the right to a)charge a fee equivelent to what we would make if we sold you the ball and b)refuse to drill a ball purchased from the internet.
If you took the time to read this,
Thank you!

I always buy my balls from the proshop for the same resons given. You just know the pro will be careful while drilling and take care of you the customer.

Greenridgepro,
I totaly agree that pin/cg/and mb are important to the reaction of the ball. heck look at some of the layouts you drilled for me especcialy the NM and BWS. They react the way I wanted them to Long and flip. The layout sheet is just a guideline as ball will not look exactly what the pattern looks like on the drill sheet.
Greenridepro has been drilling my stuff for 25 years. he still second guess me on the layouts but (well I will leave it to him to tell you the result ) and never had a problem with his drillings. He is right about buying over the internet unless it's some one like buddues. I saw a ball this lady bought over the net to save money. The CG was below the Mass Bias. Did she save? Nope. She had to buy another ball. Trust the proshop guy where you buy your stuff. He's there for a reason and not only just to drill balls.

Just to add to what Bubba stated, one of my other big reasons to buy from a pro shop is,What do you do if you gat an internet ball, have it drilled, and in a day, week, month or whatever,it cracks, which these balls do.Do you send it back via e-mail??If you are lucky enough to make contact with who ever you purchased it from, they tell you ,ok ,send it back,we will replace it,guess what, you wait forever,if you ever even see it.I wouldnt believe that some one would do that, but I bet in the last 3-4 years ,I have heard stories where they say send it back(of coarse, you pay the freight) and you never get a replacement. If someone buys a ball from me,I will take it back and replace it for the one year that the company warrents it.I get them the new replacement, drill it for free, they pay for new inserts and slug.I take the returned ball back, send it back to my supplier, wait until the manufacturer makes a decision on whether to cover the warrenty or not.If the dont warrenty it,I eat the cost of the replacement. What better service could I possibly offer??Sure beats www.whatever.com I am sure.

Jeez,I can't understand why anyone would buy a high priced ball off the internet. Yeah,I know there are some places that'll let you pick out your top weight and all,but by the time you pay to drill, slug and insert the ball where in the hell did all your savings go? Plus you ain't gonna get any free games to try it out and make all those little tweaks that make the fit perfect. Plus the guys in the pro shop ain't gonna bust their butt for an internet ball customer. You need work done? Back of the line, pal. When I walk into my guys shop,he calls me by name, knows how I roll, knows what my balls need to do and keeps me from making layout mistakes. We go over every layout and what WE want the ball to do before he drills it. Then I have to go to the bar because I can't watch my ball being drilled. It's worse that when Tink was giving birth to the kids!!!
