Got my BWP tonight got to bowl the last two frames with it. It was nice. Pro said he drilled it to go long and it didnt seem to hook vey much. Maybe because I have to get used to it, after all I only bolwed 2 frames.

If it's drilled to go long, you either gotta have a dry lane or slow the ball down. I'll say it one more time,ANY Black Widow ball is VERY speed sensitive. Throw it just a touch too fast and it'll blow right thru the break. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine. Figure out the line the ball likes best and stand back as the strikes pile up!

How slow is slow enough just to get a sense of how the ball works?

Depends on how much oil is laid down. 14 to 14 and a half mph usually works. If you want to play a straighter line, throw kinda hard at the 3 pin and let the ball hook right at the end. You gotta play around with it to find out what works for your ball best.

If it's drilled to go long, then it's probably some form of SKID/FLIP. The first few times I threw my BW's, they didn't move much. Once I slowed to about 14 mph they started breaking hard. NOW, 14 mph works on some lane conditions (mainly fresh lanes), as the lane becomes fried you may have to speed up a little to get it to go longer before it flips. I don't recommend lofting this ball...retains too much pepper for the backend.
Also watch you release. Along with speed, they are also rev sensitive. Be very mindful of how your hand is coming off the ball and pay attention to your breakpoint. These balls don't like to give too much of a cushion.
Give it a week or two of solid practice and you'll be mopping up in league...plus everyone will stare at you and your awesome Widow with envy.

Once you get some games behind it, I'm sure you'll be happy with the BWP.

Like any new ball, you need to practice and need to find out where the break point is with the ball. Start with your normal line and adjust from there depending on conditions. You can count on this ball to flip hard with a skid/flip drilling. All it will take most likely is 2-3 games to dial in the ball Once you do, you will be awed by its reaction and results
