Well guys I dont know what to do with myself. I just got back from a little practicing. I try to throw a game with each of my balls, Real Deal, Big Blue, and BWP. I struggled with the Real Deal, shot ok with the blue altho was careless on a couple spares, bad boy i know:mad: Then the 3rd game i pull out the BWP, and string off the first 11. on the 12th i took my time before getting back up there, and again i pulled it like i did when i threw my 298, but this time i left the 3-6-10, shooting a 297. Its one of those your proud of, but kinda embarressed because you know you really choked and its not ring worthy. i pulled it well inside my mark, so i cant blame it on the ball or pins, it was clearly bowler error. first time i stayed in rythm and tried to go right back up there and throw, this time i tried gathering and calming myself down for a little bit, then went thru my pre-shot routine, and still same result. How do you guys keep yourself together on that last ball? Now that i know i got the ability to get there, i just need to figure out that last ball. what are some of your guys' approach to that moment? I havent even been bowling for 2 years yet so I do get VERY NERVOUS still, and when i do, my right knee starts shaking and almost buckles underneath me. I've smelled the perfect game twice, now i wanna TASTE IT!

First things first 5cmitty. Congrats on the 11 in a row and 297

Ok You didn't choke at all in my book. I don't care how many time someones goes for their first 300 , the stomach always has butterflies and during the approach the knees get alittle weak. We all went through that. After the first one ( that's the one you will never forget ) it get alittle easier.

Sometimes taking your time on before the 12th shot to collect your thoughts may do more harm that good. You can collect your thoughts after the 11th one waiting for your ball to come back. You have to remember, you were in a rythm while shooting the first 11. Now that you take alittle more time you break that rythm . Next time say to yourself just make a good shot on the approach. Take a deep breath , relax and throw the your normal shot. You can do all that without breaking your rythm.

Congrats again and the 300 is not far off.

Nice game man. But as for the shaking and stuff it happens to everyone I have had the front 10 six times already and had the front 11 once (299) and have still yet to get my first 300 but I really dont think about it at all because I know it will come soon.I had an 800 before having a 300 because when I know Im throwing good I dont look at the score so I never knew I was even close to 800 I just knew that that game I had the front 10 and tugged the last shot for 289 but got 800. What I do Is exactly like Bubba said tell myself I threw the last 11 in a row and the 12th is the same as the first eleven and I take a deep breath and go and try to get everything to shake in the same direction:D . But like I said dont worry about it sooner or later ( hopefully sooner for each of our sakes) It will come.

A 298 and now a 297?? Way to go!! Don't worry about that 300,you didn't go looking for one today, did you? Besides, third times the charm. It'll come, don't worry about it and just enjoy the great game you rolled!

I wonder how Jeff Carter takes it when he throws 300, he has the USBC record right now...cant remember off hand how many he's thrown.

Jeff carter isnt the leader but he has 86. He is in third place the top guy has 88 his name is joe jimenez the next guy has 87. So Jeff is close. There is a guy by us that to me by far has the most impressive record although he has bowled on easy shots his whole life and his parents owned the lanes he used to bowl at and now he owns the lanes he bowls at and the shot is very easy but he has 99 800 series' which is a ridiculous number. He also has the most 299s and the most 298s.

Then you put Jeff Carter's 261 average for one season... not sure how proud of that Jeff really is, from the interview I heard.

10th frame is always tough. Draw strength from deep inside and throw your shot. I like to think this is my moment and I have the best ball in my hand and I have a great line and think as positively as possible. You have a preshot routine and just make sure to use it. I think "one more" then "one more" until its done.

Try to strike out every 10th frame and then it is just business as usual when going for the 300, 800 or whatever.
