I need a little help with ball selection.
I like to throw the down and in shot , about 14mph old wooden lanes usually a ring on the ball of oil after each shot. Which ball would u recomend. thinkin of black widow or black widow pearl. whats the difference between these balls and which would u recomend.
thanks

What is the oil condition that you are playing on? We can't really help if you don't throw that out for us.

For wooden lanes i would generally go with a pearl ball. The BWP would do nicely

Both of those are exceptional balls and are considered high performance. They are also considered high maintainence. Because you bowl on wood lanes, unless you are diligent in cleaning and maintaining the coverstock, I would consider going with something in the RAW line. Dont let the mid price fool you. All the stuff in that line is just as deadly as the more expensive stuff, but could potentially last longer.

rehcoub,, depending on the oil pattern determens the ball choice. Being you bowl on wood lanes and they tend to dry faster than synthetic the BWP would be the ball of choice. But then again if the oil pattern is one the heavy side you will have carry down on the backends that will reduce the backend break and the BWS would be the ball of choice. The difference between the two balls are #1 the coverstock . The BWS cover stock is a solid cover stock which is more aggressive than the BWP. The BWP has a pearlized cove and is for more length than the BWS. The BWS is speed sensitive . And onother thing to consider is the drilling layout. You can get the ball to roll earlier in the midlane for med-heavy oil or you can get it drilled to go long with an aggressive back end. Bot balls have the High Mass Bias Gas Mask core with flip block . Have the proshop guy take a look at the way you bowl and your axis co-ordinates . If you trust him he will not steer you in the wrong direction.

thanks to all. I am leaning towards the pearl. I have been throwing a mid range ball the Mammoth but have had it a year and do not like it. seems to break to soon on these wooden lanes. Difficult to control with consistancy. I have seen my average go from 198 2 yrs ago down into the 180 range now. These lanes are tough to score on as 300;s are non existant and 700s rare. I have been cleaning this ball with denatchered alchohol maybe this killed it dont know but no fun bowling this way anymore.

That ball needs a swimming pool of oil. Keep it though so if u start bowling tournaments that could be your first game ball. Also i would buy some ball cleaner. I would recommend Power House Power Wash. Its a very good cleaner.

i have both the widows and i use the bwp for medium and the bws for heavy. you can get them so cheap why not get both!!! i heard that 14mph is good for the widows also.

I agree. I've got both Widows and they are fantastic!! Someone asked me the other day if I had to sell all my bowling balls which order would they go in. The Widows would go last and I'd cry like a baby when they did. That's how good they are. I can throw them on any lane surface or oil condition. You just make line and speed adjustments and keep on rolling!

Ok talked with the house owner today, the oil lenght is 41' medium oil he calls it. Sounds like the pearl black widow.

I work at a wood center it depends on conditions and conditioner
Del warren was conducting a study witch i agree with that oil and surface make best ball reaction choice
a lot depends on what the ball was tested on at the plant
control oil by Brunswick on wood ,
or infinity by kegal on synthetic
was it a sport or house shot

The BWP is a great choice. I'll bet within 2 months you go back and buy the BWS! You gotta have the pair!
