NSDT – USBC Masters
By Randy Pedersen
Wow, what an incredible USBC Masters. Maybe USBC stands for Unbeatable Sean Blasts Competition. Yes, I know the scoring pace was high, but quite honestly, I’m perfectly okay with that. This was the first live event of the year, a Major, and we were at Miller Park. THE SCORES SHOULD BE HIGH FOR SOMETHING OF THIS MAGNITUDE. Okay, I’ll stop shouting.
Steve Jaros looked unbeatable taking out the almighty Walter Ray Williams Jr. – the almighty when it comes to bowling – and arguably the best southpaw on Tour in Patrick Allen. Jaros struck 22 times out of 24 shots in the first two games. Then he mans up and makes the gutsiest move in a Major that I can remember – a ball change – and still loses to Kid Flash or Diaper, which ever you prefer. I say gutsy because he hadn’t missed the pocket all day and he does it in the fifth frame of the title match in a Major championship. As it turns out, the match was decided by a second frame Brooklyn, more mojo for Mr. Rash.
Speaking of Young Skywalker, I mean Rash, what’s all this about not being very well liked on Tour? I did an exhibition with him in Okinawa, Japan this past July. I thought Sean was great!!! Now keep in mind, we got a direct hit from a Category 4 typhoon. Maybe it scared the crap out of him, but the folks over there loved him. I’ve got to be honest, Sean’s got a lot to be proud of. So, if that means he’s a little cocky, so be it. I can’t remember any guy on Tour over the last 25 years that didn’t get a little full of himself after winning, except maybe Jack Jurek or Jason Queen.
Sean’s riding an incredible wave of success right now and, remember, he’s only 25 years old. I commend him for the wonderful relationship he has with his parents. They come to all of his shows, from ALASKA. Sean gave his Dad the Rolex watch he got after winning last years Medford Classic. That’s pretty special.
Okay, back to the telecast. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Rob Stone is a gas to work with. Keep in mind, people, that the shows will NEVER be like they were back in the good old days. These shows are meant to be entertaining, FOR EVERYBODY, not just bowlers. I promise I will continue to do my best to give all of my hardcore peeps the 411. I will also try and keep it entertaining.
That’s all for now, got to get ready for Halloween. I’ll be trick-or-treating with the kids. My son, Chad, is going to be a punk rock skateboarder and my daughter, Savannah, is going to be a witch. This year I thought I’d spice things up in our neighborhood so I rented a flamethrower, should be a lot of fun.
My opinion is I never knew bowling was meant to be entertaining. It's a sport all about skill and accuracy. The WWE is Sports entertainment.
His statment about the shows will never be the same is just poor judgement.
