Ive been in bowling for over 30 years Ive worked at a center now going on 31 years and now I currently work at 2 centers as a head mechanic

Ive been a lane man, manger, pro shop operator ,mechanic ,and a bowler

Ive cashed in many tournaments around the area that i live and cashed at national both years Ive been there.
made money in state tournaments.

OK enough of the hype.

the reason I'm tell you all this is some old timers Ive worked around and bowled around have given me some good advice over the years in bowling and Ive decided to pass it on to you all here.

OK
my first tip
1 an old bowler told me along time ago sometime is just one little thing you are doing wrong and u don't even know it.

so i guess if u are struggling it might just be one thing u are doing that's throwing you off and u don't know it maybe you are over thinking the hole thing. this tip has helped me over the years and i hope it helps you

the tip is an original tip given to me by an old bowler who is almost 80 years old now.

another tip he give me and this is in the promotional side of bowling

is that his team always tried to recruit a new young bowler on his team every year i am sure that if every team out there would recruiter an new bowler every year we would not see as much of a decline as we are rite now

this tip is not really on a personal game level but the hole sport level

today I figured out something that many people would overlook as a problem creator and it made me drift 6 boards to the left, an now I know how to fix it, just an example of the first tip.

If we recruit a new bowler every year, what happens to the extra guys? Where do they go? Off to play softball?

Good Point rowdy, I was thinking the exact same thing.

My late uncle Wally and aunt Betty got into bowling a long time ago (over 40+ years), and when they joined their very first league they was matched up with another husband/wife Clyde and Connie. And since that time, and until my Uncle Wally's death just a few years ago, they was always a team and became great friends along the way.

Fishing trips and even going to their childern's weddings along the way, as well as all holiday's. Obviously, there was something special because normally you don't find 2 other people who as a team you bond with right away, and want to bowl with season long as well as bowl in 2 different leagues during each season with, especially people who met in your very first league.

Now personally, I would love to have something like that happen with me, but chances are it won't be happening anytime soon. But to just recruit one person each year, and dump someone who might actually enjoy and like being on that team because of a recruitment policy is stupid.

How does this person determine who goes from the team for that recruit? And if it's something really stupid like someone who has the lowest average, then what happens when the three recruits are higher than this person, does he fire himself instead of recruiting?

I'm not going to go through the time and trouble of getting a team together only to start kicking guys off it. I wouldn't be able to get anyone to roll for me after awhile. I want guys I KNOW are gonna show every week, and have my back while they're there.

Start .02:

A better idea to this would be to recruit 1 person to join the league for the next season. If enough people do this you are still introducing more people to our sport without breaking up established teams.

End .02

Have a nice weekend, y'all!!

stupid to encourage new bowlers ?

of course u are not going to kick someone off if u are full team that's bowled together for years and years

but i do know some or a lot of teams that will not let a new bowler on because of there inexperience now if your said team has an opening then why

not bring in a new bowler that's never been in league before

yes of course u are not going to bring in a new inexperienced bowler in a scratch league or a pba experience league

USE SOME COMMON SENSE GUYS

and i also never said to kick someone off

some people want a winning team so they don't want an inexperienced bowler on there team

but ill tell you what Ive won several league with 160 average bowlers

and last season i won a league with a bowler that had a 130 average and another with 145 average but i averaged 234

is what i ment anyway
