Here's the scenario:
You buy two brand new quality balls although your game probably isn't at the level that warrants two brand new balls. You hold off having them drilled for some considerable time and eventually succumb and have one done. It doesn't light the blue touchpaper that equates to fantastic scoring - in fact it doesn't increase your average at all.

Do you have the second one drilled or get shot of it?

Drill it up! You never know when you're going to get to that one ball that works better than you could have imagined for your game. This could be your's! :D

Then again.... maybe not.:D

I usually have balls drilled in pairs to have them work as a setup for one another. Drill it up

sometimes that next ball pushes you over the hump in terms of average, go for it.

At this point why not, sounds like you hoping would help you over the next hump... the other ball will do the trick... be confident, breath, dont rush the approach.

The scenario doesn't work for me at all. Who in their right mind buys a ball and then leaves it lay around the house? Bullhockey. You get BOTH those bad boys drilled at the same time. That's why the first ball ain't scoring. You broke up the pair and it's lonely. So,go make up with the first ball by drilling the second and putting them close together in the bag.

I did think of getting them both done at the time, however I didn't feel my game was worthy of two top quality brand new balls. (Probably still isn't to be honest).

My ideas was to see how I went, then get the second ball drilled to suit. Snag is that I don't see a huge a difference between then and now. Sure my average has gone up but......

Since buying the two new ones I've acquired three secondhand balls, one of which I've already sold. (The other two are my Hammers, both of which I quite like). This in turn poses the question whether I should sell the undrilled Track and use the money to fund a third Hammer instead - a non-pearl "something or other" probably.

Decisions, decisions.....

might as well drill it you already paid for it. probably the only reason why i wouldn't drill a ball, would be if it worked well with me and i already had the same ball and they were going to stop or have stopped making it. i would save it for when i needed a new ball. second reason would be to sell, but that will never happen for me at least.

Hey mongo, its the Track Animal isn't it. If so, drill that beast up, its known to be probably the best hitting Track ball out there. They say the hit is phenomanal. Definetly drill it. Just my .02 cents though.

'Tis indeed the Animal. I'll probably get it drilled if I can manage to sell my Show Time and maybe the Xcel as I seriously think I have far too many balls than is good for me.

Picked up the Crash and the Animal for AUD$220 the pair including shipping so I suppose even if I get it drilled and don't like it it's not like I've lost a lot.

Ummmm I do ! Sometimes I let one go untill I see how the first one will react with a certain drilling and then drill the other. I also do this with two balls the same.

I sure don't, when I buy two Hammers, you can bet your ass that both get drilled and used the same day. And is why I like to have 4 practice games so that both get used and I can find out what effective line I would have to take for them, because I would use them during the league that night.

Besides, there's no better sound than that of a Hammer ball when it hits the pins and seeing pins fly upwards an seeing that messenger flying on by.

I do the same thing. Wait to see how the first one reacts, then get the other one drilled to compliment the first one. If you get them drilled at the same time you run the risk of them doing close to the same thing.

You know, your talking about waiting to see what happens with the average and what ever and it has gone up, a little, and then maybe you will see what happens witht the Track...

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me! You buy it, punch it out! It doesn't have even a chance to raise your average if it sits at home keeping the door to the spare bedroom open. Not to mention that it would probably be the most expensive door stop ever.

To the point, everybody bowls better with new stuff. Its all in your head. PUNCH IT OUT, SHOOT 700 SOMETHING, THEN KICK YOURSELF IN THE NADS WONDERING WHY YOU NEVER DRILLED THIS THING IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Good luck, but one question. I know ebonite int. owns Track, Columbia 300, Hammer ect. but if your a true hammerhead what are doing even buying non-hammer balls?

Being a true Hammerhead had nothing to do with exclusively buying their equipment.

Ask Sin what makes a true Hammerhead...maybe rereading what he has to say might help some of you with your attitude.

Simple - the Hammers were the last balls I bought :)

In order, my purchase history is (iirc):
14lb White Dot,
15lb Maxim,
13lb Sky Bolt,
13lb Hit,
15lb Xcel Particle,
15Lb Show Time,
15Lb White Dot,
14lb V2 Strong/R,
15lb White Dot,
15lb Crash,
15lb Animal,
15lb 3D Violet Pearl,
15lb Saw Blade. (The two White Dots were from charity shops for $5 each. One is fingertip, the other conventional).
I was also given a 14lb Groove which I still use for practice sometimes as it helps slow my release down.

The Blue balls I still have. The Red ones are gone.
