I recently made the upgrade from 2 13 year old balls, one was a Ebonite Gyro Pro and the other a Columbia 300 Black Shadow. Both balls worked ok in medium to heavy oil, but were better on drier lanes. I purchased the Hawg Zilla yesterday and bowled a couple games with it tonight. First game I was messing around trying out different spots to stand and different boards to throw it, but after the first game I found the spot and shot a 233 the second game. The Hawg Zilla is the first Hammer I've ever thrown and its amazing, the way the ball moves back into the pocket from just about anywhere is great. I highly recommend this ball for the bowler lookin for the edge.

Pain, Doom or Widow
If you r bowling on down 10 board and if its a THS, the zilla might b too strong out there, thats what i think anyway, but i maybe wrong, do u know your rpm? or close to it

Hey Street Racer, what is your average? You gotta be good to have all those balls. I used to think 1 or 2 balls is enough, but now that I have the Hawg Zilla and have been reading about bowling balls, I think I need a couple more myself, LOL. I dont know if your talking to me or not, but I dont know my rpms or speed, never got it checked.

I agree with StreetRacer, the ZILLA is probable to strong for the down & in shot.
Jedi47 has the right idea, the BW loves to eat pins. get it drilled for length with a strong back end and watch the pins beg for mercy

Thanks for the help I'm guessing my rpm is around 15+or- I need to take time an get all that figured out.I'm not set on down and in shot in the past I've took the quake gutter to gutter it's a good (OLD) ball I'll keep it for seven pins and as needed I'm just trying to get the most bang for the buck.Again thanks for the help.

I throw both my Hawg & Black Widow down & in....They both chew pins to bits,,,,,which one I use is determined by the amount of and pattern of the lane grease

$270 for a Black Widow, you must be mistaken. I bought mine and had it drilled for over $100 less than that

there was no price on the black widow but it was setting in the middle of the hawg balls and the action series all had 270.00 plus prices so I just took a deep breath and turned away.

I got my hawgzilla on ebay from a reputable seller. I was able to specify the top weight / pin placement too.
Around 100 plus shipping and most pro shops around me drill it for around 45-50 including the grips/slug.

My new Black Widow cost me $177.89........$127.89 ball & shipping off of the web, $50.00 for getting it drilled local. Had I bought it through a local shop the price would've been in the $270.00 range.
I realize that pro-shops are in the business to make money,,,but a $100.00 mark-up on the ball is WAY TOO EXCESSIVE.
Went through the same thing when I bought my Hawg, saved $100.00 buying off of the internet.

I myself would shop around. do the math and see how much to buy online and have them drill it. Also ask around the bowling alley and see if anyone else knows of a better source. Around were I live I know of a few independent dealers who do it out of there basement or garage for a good price and do really good work. I myself go to the pro shop at the lanes b/c I have known the guy for years and give him my work as do most of my buddies for which in turn he give us the best possible deals on goods

i got my Black Widow for 228.25, that was after drill, finger inserts, and thumb slug, i was the first one to get it at our house, and after he started to sell alot he raised the price alittle, i think there 250 now, but he only did it b/c he was out for 3 months sick, and he has sold over 50 of them in a month, which i find funny b/c everyone said it was a shitty ball, until they saw me and one of my friends bowl, 289-288 first game with it against eachother, every sicne he hasnt stopped selling them
