I'm only a beginner bowler, since this sep.
Sometime I just feel I'm not consistent with my shot, and can't put enough spin on the ball.
This month, I start to think how to improve myself to a better bowler, here is what I find:
1. I need a more consistent and steady position in order to have a better control of the ball.
2. Take more steps to create more timing step to store more momentum in my arm before I release it
3. Bent your leg, back and use left hand to balance yourself.
4. If the ball went to far left your thumb come out too fast, if the ball went to far right your thumb come out too slow.
5. Give the ball a little pick after thumb come out and hand stright right at the point you want to shoot at.
6. It is not a tip, but when your ball lose the hook, USE HOT WATER to clean it, unless you want it to go nice and stright...
7. Practice steps! the more confortable you are with your hands and legs working together, the better shot you will get.

Hope this will help some people Good luck

Practice without bowling ball first, until really know what you are doing

1 Place left leg a little bit infront of your right leg
2 step your left leg forward a step
3 step your right leg forward remember to bent a little and start to drop the right hand with bowling ball down a little
4 Bent more! Left leg step up and follow up by right leg you should be benting your back to almost 90 degree to your leg by the time right leg step up, the time when you step down the right leg the right hand holding the bowling ball should be the highest point your hand will go. Remember to point your left hand to the left stright, down side of your left hand should point to the back.
5 Final step. step up your left leg forward (Big step) right hand should be swinging forward at the same time fold your left arm back(strightly point your left hand fingers to the back) and remember to give your ball a lift(spin) as you release the bowling ball. Follow up and point your right hand at your target spot. Right leg kick up, if you do the kick right, it should boost your bowling ball's speed like baseball, all momentent transfer to the right arm.
6 Adjust position to make next shot better.

Too much words, But I hope it helps

Sounds great Wal. Just remember that unlike baseball, the plant foot slides in bowling. I used to pitch so I know the difference. In baseball the pitcher gets his arm speed from the big muscles in his legs, butt, back and arm. Bowlers get the majority of their ballspeed from gravity. The muscles do play a part, but you really want a free armswing with a bowling ball because of how much it weighs. Muscling an armswing down to release may sound like a great idea, but in reality it's a killer for accuracy and for being able to put the max amount of revs on the ball. A loose, free arm will let all of the speed that gravity is giving you get to the ball while still enabling you to turn the ball over so it can hook.
