Just like the topic says, what was everyones avg. in their most recent league and what balls were used in the league? I used a couple of ancient balls in an Ebonite Gyro Pro and a Columbia 300 Black Shadow. I averaged 197 in 48 games, but now that I have the Hawg Zilla, I'm shooting for a 220.

Alot of people, including myself used to think a 220 was good enough to go pro, but now I know the lane conditions of the PBA. Is the Sport Bowling leagues and lane conditions somewhat similar to PBA? I used to bowl in a league when I was 9 and 10, but then I moved and only I bowled like 20 games within the past 3 years, then I joined the summer league and avg 197 which is great for not bowling in 10 years. I know alot more about the game these days and I am gonna put forth as much effert as possible to achieve my 220 and enter some tournaments around this area.

Last season I finished with a 206 average for 99 games bowled. I used a Storm X-Factor Ace, a Hammer Blade Particle, and a Hammer Hawg Wild. The Storm and the Blade were stolen midway through the second half and I finished with just the Hawg Wild. I have new toys for this season and am still trying to figure out what ridiculously aggressive ball I'm going to add to deal with heavy oil.

No comment on the average because i bowl at a really dry and crap centre, but i used Razor Blade, Sharp Blade, Sling Blade and Switch Blade (and when the lanes r broken down a black ice)
Other gear i might use if the conodition is right, Big Time Pearl

hahahahaha, that would be like you to say that. You bowl at a crap dry house and are gonna throw a Widow. C'mon man whats your average it has gotta be good. You write on these boards and are very knowledgeable of the sport.
I myself bowl at Taylor Lanes in the fall and carry a 195 average and use a Black Widow, Big Blue, El Nino X- it, V2 Strong, The One, The Hex (great ball) and a white dot (for the 7 pin). My goal is to average 200 or over but have not been able to attain this mark. Out of all my friend I carry the lowest average and that kinda sucks.

with all the different types of balls available these days, "lane condition" is a poor reason to use as an excuse as to why your average isn't as high as you'd like it to be. for any "lane condition" out there, there are probably upwards of 2 dozen balls that would work perfectly on said condition. maybe you just need to practice a little more.

2 leagues last season, using rotogrip silver streak pearl, silver streak se, silver streak particle, and spare tire for spares (all conventional grips BTW), averaged 183 in one league (late league, wood lanes) and 189 in the other (early league, synthetic lanes).
been practicing this summer with a fingertip grip, looking to get my average up to 200 this season (using a brunswick ambush, and for spares, the current plastic brunswick ball which at this moment i can't recall the name of).

Averaged a composite 185 in 2 different houses with different surfaces & oilings last fall/winter after a 6+ year sabbatical---throwing an OLD original reactive Hammer, Predator Pursit (hated that ball & gave it away), and got my Hawg during the last month of the season.
Over this past summer, averaged 196 (composite) in 3 different houses---throwing 2 Hawgs, 1 standard drill, the other with a length drill.
Currently a composite of 206 in 3 houses (IS early in the season though)--- both Hawgs & Black Widow drilled skid/flip.

Well, the best average I've had in a league is 188 with a Storm XXX. Recently I bought a Widow and I've been practicing with it for a month in the hardest lane condition we have around here and I've been averaging over 200. I've been practicing in that condition because that's the one used in the most competitive league here (which I've never been part of) :( , and it starts today and they'll give me an opportunity, so I'm excited!!! :D

lol dude you dnt know how dry my centre is, my black ice hooks too much sometimes and then i have to use my plastic, i kind of know the pattern, oil to 23 feet and buff to around 30 feet, and not very much units, i have been told i use all the boards on the lanes, and if u wanna know my bowling style, cranker at around 350-400 rpm and i also dnt have the money to buy 2 dozen bowling balls and find 1 that will work, but they have changed the length of the pattern, its around 37-40ft same amount of units and thats the has been the pattern for 2 weeks or so, and i have been shooting a 170 ave on it, so if they keep the oil pattern, my ave will go up and if yous really wanna know ave right now is 146+ i prebowled last week so i dnt know my average(and damm it i didnt shot a 900 haha), i dnt really like the centre where i am right now, but i cant afford to go anywhere else until next yr and it doesnt help that my coach is there so yeh and i only bowl 1 league, and if yous wanna know what i average in other centre's on there house patterns, i figure it out at around 175ish, so go off that i guess

About the black widow (which i am not getting for awhile due to no money), i am moving to another centre next yr where i cant really hook a ball at all and i do bowl in tournaments when i can afford them, and they do lay oil down and sometimes alot of it. and geez thanks big blue, at least somebody thinks i have a good knowledge of the sport, maybe my coach is teaching me something:D

P.S if it sounds like i am having a go at somebody, i am sorry i dont mean to

I'd sure LOVE to bowl in your' center....I beat the hell out of dry lanes. All of my 700s & 270+ games have been on "arrid" conditions.

My highest league average of late is 198. My others are 178 and 181. In those centres I either use My Road Hawg, Hawg or recently my Black Widow.
BTW Street Racer are you talking bout Logan? Man going back when I was a cranker I remember bowling with my plastic the whole time because my gear would just go flying off the lane into the left gutter. And they werent even high performance balls.

mine is a 170 since i started keeping track last week (10 games). nothing to brag about on this board or anywhere else. i just started bowling midway through the summer so im happy with that average at this point. i have the bw and i dont know how it was drilled because im so new to the sport. i also broke 200 for the first time yesterday with a 223 552 series (would have been higher but i was so excited about the 223 that i bowled a 155 the next game)

well, for the past few years, i've thrown the sharp blade, i've average 188, 188, and around a 170 something, i don't know i didn't bowl 7 weeks, got here at the end of the season last year. now, this season is starting in a few weeks, and i've finally got my doom to throw...so we'll see how that goes (see pain vs doom post to understand)
Prior to our new season (8 weeks ago) was shooting 159 Sunday night and 167 Monday night... but now I have a Big Blue and am shooting 179 and 188... Just drilled my 2nd hand Saw Blade and can't wait for Sunday night to give it a roll!! Our lanes are good old timber in need of a bit of work too!!

Eish... Hope to have scores comparable to yours one day. I've been playing league for a weeks weeks now... My average is stuck on 138. :o I hope to get this up to the 180's by the end of the year.
It's just so difficult to get equipment in South Africa. I ordered the Black Widow from bowlersparadise 2 weeks ago and I've been sitting with the undrilled balle at home for a week now. There's 1 guy able to drill balls within an 400 mile radius where I stay... and he's never at the pro shop. You have to phone him and make an appoitnment... :(
Ah well... the wait's gonna make the first game so much sweeter. :D

Last season ended with a 186 avg. using mainly the Big Blue Pearl and off/on using the Blue Pearl(faball). This season week1 had a 622 series. Thats 207 so far, my gaol and hopes are not to fall below 195, if I can hold that I'll be happy. On my mixed couples (fun league) after three weeks I have a 196 avg.

I agree with Big Blue on his reply, you can't blame lane conditions when your arsenel is so extensive, why don't any of your future balls include the Vibe or an older (faball)??? your knowledge seems to be all there and with what 7 balls to choose from? No excuses!

I think maybe sometimes people get overwhelmed with the scores on this site. Seriously think about it now, you see people shooting 645 730 650 679 and so on and then you have others, including myself thast are having a hard time at this point. I myself have shot like 506 and 498 I think the first 2 weeks of this season. Now that is pretty shitty when carrying a 195 average for a few years now. Hell man the first game this week we lost by 7 pins and in like the 5th frame I threw it right in the ditch:mad: talk about feeling like a goat:( . Anyways, fu@k it, it is bowling and you will struggle at some point and some peoples struggles come earlier than others I guess. Anyways with that said has anyonew else started in a slump like myself???????????????

Averaged 214 last season in two different leagues, two different houses with Epic, Oracle, Oracle Vision, TPC Player, Ice, Silver Streak SE, V2 Pearl, Sumo (that's right a SUMO), Big Bang, Inferno, Masterpiece, Monster SlayR.
This will be my first season using Hammer bowling balls since I am now going to Saginaw Valley State University and am on the bowling team which is sponsored by Hammer. I currently have the Black Widow for Heavy Oil and am waiting on another Black Widow, a Raw pain, a Raw doom, and a Tuff. I also have an Ebonite SR300 coming. Should be a great bowling season.

I finished last year with a 215 avg. using the Sledge Hammer & Big Blue Pearl as my main weapons.
I also carried the Nasty Nail Extreme & Original Pearl 3D in the bag.

I have a particular house in dallas that for some reason, I consistently bowl 25 pins below my average there and I think I get more easily twisted and try harder than I should going in. So much of bowling is mental, I think I need to just relax and maybe that is all you need to do too, don't put too much pressure on yourself. You have been successful before so it isn't like you haven't seen success. Just relax, have fun and your average will come up I bet.

That is so true. Ever since I started relaxing in bowling my average has went up 180 to to 210s. But I also started working out and lost some weight too. But anyways I have bowled 4 600s in a row in 2 different bowling alleys and I keep improving. The mental game is the biggest part of the game for me because it keeps improving.

Hey Big Blue,
I've just come out of a huge slump and it can get you down for awhile, that's for sure!!!! Only thing I can say (may not make you smile too much) is you will eventually pop back out on the top of your game! Keep your chin up and trust your shot, you just have to remember one thing.... it's not wether you win or lose, it's the piss up after the game!!!:D All the best mate!

I've started out in a slump for both of my leagues. Granted I just started bowling again after about 6 years... Used to average around 205 with my high rev.
So far after a couple weeks I've managed about 4 gutters, a couple games in the 130s, and averages around 170-180.
What's more frustrating is that I've been practicing at different alleys and whether it be 3 games or 8 games, I maintain an easy 205+. Not sure what my problem is when it comes to my leagues.

Yeah I've had a slump that lasted the entire 04-05 season. Went to a tournment bowled bad one day on a dry condition. I really got in my head. Then bowled in the summer changed my game for the worse. Last four weeks of season found out what my problem. Had several coaches, they all missed, plus my wife missed it too.
Ave in League in my Saturday League:
02-03 180
03-04 190
04-05 175 Also bowled 171 at different house.
05-06 199
Right now:
Bowling two leagues
162 (5 weeks) and 195 (2 weeks)
Got my balls redrilled over the summer to new pitch, when the weather changed, could not hold onto balls. Saturday before last used old ball with old drill for a week at each house. This Saturday got all redrilled for league.
Hopefully things will be better. Video Tape your slump! Watch until you figure it out.
