View Full Version : I'm Back!
I'm back from the tournament and I had a great time. I left A LOT of easy pins down there but I gave it everything I had. The conditions were tough but eventually I made all the correct adjustments. My big problem was I didn't make them fast enough. Now the scores...
Singles 228 214 279 = 721
Doubles 163 147 202 = 512
Team 171 199 172 = 542
Total Events 1775
I'll upload a few pictures later.

NIce effort!,
Let us know what you were rolling....
I made a few dollars in brackets for singles, team and pins over average. I'm the worlds biggest idiot for not entering the high game pools when I shot the big score. I guess the guy came by our pair while I was bowling and I missed him. They were paying good money too!
I should cash in singles. It was a two weekend tournament and my score beat everyone from last weekend. Hopefully it will hold up.

Nice shooting slap. where was the line and what balls did you use. You did good bud.
A Ball Hog invades the hotel. All of my squads time were against the oiling schedule so I didn't see any oil all weekend. I only threw two balls.

Nice shooting slap. where was the line and what balls did you use. You did good bud.
Day 1
Some of my teammates had a 5 pm squad time so I went to support them and do a little scouting. At the center I find out the oiling scheduling. Full strip/ oil at 8 am and just a re oil (no strip on the backend) at 5 pm. My squad time were 9pm and 12 noon so all my events were hours after the reoil. Now I begin to regret two decisions I made back home. 1. I chose not to pack any ball polish and 2. I chose to bring an Awesome Revs over my Toxic.
I'm able to locate a few lefties and I there appears to be dry outside and the backends were hooking. Not too much carry down.
Balls: LevRG, WMB, two A Revs, BWS, A Finish, Arcon. I immediately think Awesome Finish and Arcon. I decide that I would like more options, so I'm going to have the pro shop polish either my pin down Revs or the BWS.
Singles.
I found a great line with my Finish standing on 17 throwing across 10. I had some area down lane, I could miss my target inside or outside and still carry well. I moved inside 2 or 3 boards over the 3 games.
Game 1 XX 8(s)- XXX8- XXXX =228
Game 2 X9/XXXX 9- 9/ 81 XXX = 214
Game 3 X9/XXXXXXXXX9 = 279
Doubles
I started throwing 17 to 10 but that went away quickly. Here is were a made my first mistake. I made a move outside with my Finish and the ball didn't recover. Next I tried to play an inside line with my Finish and pin up Revs but neither carried. Towards the end of game two I decided move back outside with my Arcon and found a great look 12 to 5. I had a hard time shooting single pins all weekend. I lowered my scored in all three events.
Game 1 9/XX 6(s)3 X 6/ X 6- 7(s)1 9/9 = 163
Game 2 7(s)2 9- 63 9/ 9/ 8/ 7(s)2 X 9/ 7/X = 147
Game 3 XXX 9- 9- XXX 8/ 9- XXX = 202
Team
I started outside again with the Finish, throwing 12 to 5. I must have dried this line up, my carry began to suffer in game 2. I made all kinds of small adjustments to change my entry angle but nothing worked with the Finish. I made a switch to the Arcon playing a similar line with more loft and that worked better. I killed myself in game 3. I was lined up well but pulled two shots inside and received spilts. I threw a pretty good ball in the ninth but it hit a dry board and came in tight. I was stilled pissed in the tenth and whiffed the single pin.
Game 1 XXX 9- X 9- 8/ X 9- 71 = 171
Game 2 XX 9/ X 9- 9/9/9/7/ XX7 = 199
Game 2 X 9/ XXX 8(1) 7(s)2 X (8)1 9- = 172
Dam slap you do look like a bowler there. You do look a little burnt on the second day though.
Yeah 9 pm squad and it took forever to payout the brackets. It was after 3 when I got back to the hotel. Then up early for a noon squad time.

Congrats on the single set... don't let it get you down to much. Sometimes we have a tournament here that re-oils every other squad. I have bowled it twice and my harder of the two houses have never had a fresh shot. Next time I bowl it, will try and get a on the fresh oiled squad their.

lol...hahah...he's right, unless you have a little bit of money to spend you'll prolly not do too well...tournament entry fee is very high

PBA Tour Events are ONLY $300 per Event... to me it would be the all the travel (Gas, hotels, airfare...etc), Equipment cost, and eating out that would add up. Sure you could skimp on a lot of stuff.
Just some quick cost for the typical week
GAS-$150
Hotel-$280+ (qives you an average $40 a night) Probably low for some cities
Entry Fee-$300 (This is more than most of us our use to, but it's the PBA, with decent weekly payouts and TV coverage of the Finals.)
Eats-$210 (at $30 a day)
Balls-$200 (Figure the discount pricing for two balls each week.)
Plus you have to get cloths and such to start the season and I'm sure their is other stuff I have not accounted for in this.

Hey Tenpinsniper, if u guys do the TQR, its 300. Once u cash it comes out to be 500. And if u could just but 10-12 balls in the beginning, u wouldn't have to pay for more balls.

Pretty sure the 500 would be okay if you cash. So whats the deal if you buy 10-12 balls, you wouldn't have to pay for more?

Well u said its like 200 a week if u buy two balls a week. Now if u started off with 10-12 u really wouldn't have to buy anymore. U would have everything u would need.

Quite possibly the 12 could cover you for a while.. if you have some good helping you get exactly what you need for each condition. But the fact of the matter is Hammer has atleast 3 new release coming at Mid-season, pretty sure that add to the collection if you just used Hammer's, but I'm still sure that even if you used other Brands throught put the season you will need a few more balls to fit needs, considering the different surface, conditioners and playing surfaces. I would agree that 12 should probably get the season started, for most. But the inner ball hog or Crusher will take over at some point.

Good shooting, keep up the good work...
Tough news everyone...
The results were posted and I placed 2nd by TWO PINS!!! The difference between first and second is $450 so those were two expensive pins...lol I guess I can't be too upset placing 2nd in a regional tournament but I'm my own toughest critic.
Todays lesson: Remember EVERY PIN COUNTS!

Slap, you have nothing to be ashamed of. You went out and did your best and you bowled very very well. Finishing second by two pins is a heartbreaker but you did well. Congrats on second and next time it will be 1st.
