I'm looking for an aggressive ball that can handle heavy oil and/or heavy carrydown. Before the Zilla came out, I was thinking that it was going to be the answer. However, once I read about the 4000 abralon reactive (non-particle) cover I found myself rethinking the whole thing. I just can't convince myself that the smooth Zilla can deal with that kind of condition. I've been looking at RotoGrip's Epic Battle and Track's Robo Rule. Both seem to be great balls for this kind of condition. What ball in the Hammer lineup offers performance in the heavy stuff like the Battle and the Robo Rule, and, am I all wet on my thinking on the Zilla?

I really don't care for Rotogrip products but as for the Rule line of balls those are some hooking ass bowling balls. My advice would be to wait and see what products are gonna come out during the fall season....

I got the Zilla a few weeks ago for my heavy oil ball; couldn't be happier. This thing soaks up the oil, rolls consistenly and hits awesome.
I don't have a need to, but couldn't you dull the cover a little if you're worried about the smoothness?
The Rule balls are great also. I don't think you can go wrong either way you chose.

Just got the Hawgzilla and bowled my first league night with it. I actually had to put it away for the first two games until there was carry down, then look out.
This thing was hooking the whole lane! Our condition was only medium oil but when there was a lot of carry down. I had to practically cross the whole lane. Ball was probably too strong for that pattern. I can't wait to get it on heavy oil. To tell you the truth, I'm thinking about putting a polished finish on it.
