Eh, I've been bowling for the past two weeks trying to fix my release, but I don't think I'm doing a good job:( :

I think it might be that my thumb hole is a little big. I have a piece of tape in there already, but it still feels loose, so do u think I should put more in?

some times I need 4 or 5. The other thing I find is that if I slow down a little and rotate my hand more under the ball and around the side I need less tape so It may be the release position also.
Hey we missed you on sunday, liz was throwing Storm.

I don't know about anyone else but my thumb hole is a little "snug" when I think about it. I have found that this is best for as I do not find myself squeezing the ball at release but am very relaxed through the hand. My advice would be that if it feels loose than it probably is and that you need to tighten it up a little. Also if adding a piece another piece of tape is too much you can try sanding out the hole a little more then adding another piece of tape

Yea my thumb hole on my equation is tight and i love it. I have to slightly push my thumb in, and i love the fit of it. Relaxed hand the whole way though. My other balls aren't, im thinking about getting a mold of it.

One thing I did see was that you DO NOT have your thumb all the way in the ball. If a ball is fitted properly, your thumb should be all the way in. If it comes out that easy, then its too big and probably has reverse pitch. At your age, your flexiblity is still good and you should not use reverse. I am 46 yrs old and I use 3/16 forward pitch. Then you can use a tighter hole and not grip near as much

yeah, a few of us join the chat room and watch the PBA and entertain ourselves by poking fun at various aspects of the broadcast. We were hoping a storm owner would show to provide fodder for our "commentary".
I replayed your video about 15 times and your release looks like a full roller. your hand is right on top of the ball, thumb is pointing down and your wrist opens up with your fingers pointing down and to the right significantly.
but thats just what i saw by stopping it many times at and about the point of release. Can you post a video of your total delivery? that would help significantly.

It's a pretty bad shot. I had a double bounce too.:o Any advice for this form or should I just hang it up?!

Jeff if we're talking about the video in your last post,I've got news for you. I couldn't see much wrong with it! Nice footwork, great backswing, outstanding follow through and some nice carry. What's the problem with it? I'd take that shot any day of the week.

lol!!! The release is suitcased and I had a double bounce. Some people at the alley say that I have the best form on my team, but I tell them that my release kills the whole thing. I'm proud of my form, but need so much practice on staying behind the ball and fixing my loose thumb hole.

Fix the thumb hole first. Then see what that does to your release. I wouldn't change the form, though. Stick with what you've got.

Turn less on the ball, you will get more lift, the way you're throwing right now, you are almost getting "over" the ball at the end of your release, try a less extreme release point, and see if your lift increases. Also, yes, I agree with Stampy...I'm only 15, but I had a good bit of foreward pitch added recently to my thumb hole, and it gives you so much more power behind your throw.

I cant stress enough the importance of getting that thumb all the way in the ball. You will see, its like night and day. The thumb being partially out is why you are suitcasing it. Get the thumb fixed and then see what you think. Always start tight and then chisel, sand, carve or whatever it takes to get it to fit your thumb. And by fit, I do not mean so your thumb comes out easy, I mean so it actually fits your thumb like a glove.

I personally only put my thumb in half way but I also have another hand on the ball, but my dad also only puts half his thumb in the ball, it all about preferences, whatever makes you comfortable in my opinion will help your game.
