Since I'm able to finally ask questions I remembered one I've always thought about...

Is it beneficial to have Inserts in finger holes, knowing that they may get worn causing inconsistency... I have inserts, but found that after a month or so the holes are a little different of course because of wear and tear. The thing is since I started bowling I've had inserts and can't really remember the feeling of bowling without.

Would I get calluses or would any other complications arise because of tight finger holes?!?

Purple Hammer, welcome.

Inserts are a matter of preference.

I swear by them and carry a 21+ avg. - one of the bowlers on my team swears at them and he also carries a 21+ avg.

I have been bowling with inserts since the mid 80's and have tried to go back to not using them. I found the I did not like the feel of the ball, and with the grips, I could actually squeeze my grip.

Plus I feel I get more lift and have more control using the grips.

I agree fingertip grips are a matter of preference! I have bowled both ways and I prefer with grips. Yes they do wear out over time but you thats just the way it goes, 5-10 dollars for new grips is worth it.

Thanks for the replies, but one more question...

I got new grips about a month ago and the feel on the grips were really snug, but now they aren't as snug. They kind of make a pop noise as they slip out as I release the ball... Is that normal and or do I need to replace them ALREADY:( ??? I do bowl 20+games a week....

Thanks again

with the amount of games you bowl in a month it could be about that time for new grips. My suggestion to you would be to buy your finger grips in bulk and just replace them yourself. It is not rocket science and you could replace your grips anytime and anywhere you needed. As for the pop noise you got me the only pop noise I have ever gotten is from my thumb hole. I would think as long as your ball is releasing smoothly you should be fine

Acetone Will Also Help Losen Up The Grips. It Dissolves The Material, I Used It In The Pro Shop To Addjust The Fit Of A Grip To A Person.

Find An Object That Is A Tight Fit In The Grip, Put A Rag Over It And Get Some Acetone On It And Force It Into The Grip And Turn It. Keep Turning It For A Few Minutes And Then Try The Grip If It Is Still To Tight - Repeat The Above Steps Until It Fits.

If you should get new grips, you probably want the same feel everytime you replace them, if you like them snug then replace them snug. The poping noise your hearing could be from your grip on the ball don't use a "death grip" relax your hand, if you need to grip the ball that hard then maybe your problem is in the thumb hole, it colud be to loose. I actually had the same problem. I got my thumb hole fixed and the popping decreased. Just a thought.:)

Appreciate the help...

I actually went last night and bowled and figured out that I was using the DEATH GRIP:eek: ... What a coincidence that you thought that;) .. I wasn't coming over on the bowl so, for some reason I thought my fingers weren't coming out making me emphasize more on fingers( I have the foggiest idea why)...

So now I know when I start squeezing, I need to just relax and focus on coming over the ball...
