I purchased a new black widow pearl at the start of the season. I cannot get it to strike it seems to roll out and leave the 4-6 alot . Am I doing something wrong ? I have not done anything to the cover. Our lanes are oiled just before my shift could this be the problem.

What shape is the coverstock in? If it is still in good shape, then your ball isnt rolling out, but under hooking. In this case you might want to dull the ball to 4000 grit sanded (more movement by 5 boards, this should help alot)

I have not ever sanded a ball what do you recommend for me to do this with? Or do I have to take it to a pro shop, I am from a small town and we do not have a real pro shop.

Let me ask you what type of bowler are you? Stroker / Cranker ? And also what eaxactly are the lane condition you are bowling on. IHow did you have the ball drilled for what type of reaction? All these question are relivant to the reaction of the ball. It sounds to me like the ball is using up all it's energy in the midlane and then when it gets to the pocket it doesn't have anymore energy left and flatens out. Thge BWP is 4000 out of the box finish and with factory polish. Try polishing the ball again and putting less revs on the ball. But give us alittle more info any what I asked at the beginiing.

It does sound like it may have been drilled wrong, for what you want. Usually, Pearl balls should be drilled to go long with maximum break at the back. That helps keep the pins low and gives more pin action/mixers/slop. If it is rolling out, then it is using its power too early, and there won't be much hitting power left. It will hit like a marshmellow. IMO.

Dont speculate, there is a huge difference between rolling out and not finishing. Find out for sure what its doing before getting advise here

i am about to get a bwp. i currently use a different ball, but it is drilled to longhook. i also use three fingers, leaving out the index and adding the pinky. i am looking for a long hook ball to use because of weather changes, and oil reacting to this. i use a "pearl" type of coverstock now on the two balls that i currently use. I have high end balls, and wonder if this bwp would be a good addition. is it a good ball for the 5 board and long? please remember that i throw a long hook, about 15.5-16 mph. let me know if this would work?

It's all in how you have it drilled. Mine works just fine for the same shot.

Bowldot-There's a very simple reason why the ball ain't striking, you're pounding it up the same line as your other balls, right? Well,it ain't your other balls. If you're leaving the 4-6,MOVE! A BWP will take a totally different line than any other ball you own. It's got to go it's own way. You,my friend, have to find that way.
