I have always used ebonite cleaning products only until recently when my pro suggested adding Track's "clean 'n dull" for my Hawg Wild, Road Hawg, etc, (dull finished balls that soak up the oil). It is a little expensive but not too bad. It looks like gel toothpaste that seems to do a great job in pulling the oil from the coverstock. I did half of my Hawg Wild to check one side vs the other just in feel and it was like night and day. I am not here to help track products but if it can make our hammers behave like they have 20 games on them when they have 100, then I am all for it.

All I've used for my Hawg Zilla is rubbing alcohol, it seems to pull the oil off the bowl quite well. I usually use it when I get home from Bowling. I'm thinking of taking it with me from now on, since I seen it was legal to use during league play and use it after each game to clean it. I always wipe my ball off with a towel after each time I throw it, just so there isnt much oil on it, and I clean the towel once a week. I might check into some of this stuff you mentioned or others mentioned, just to see if its worth it. IMO, I think rubbing alcohol works fine and its cheap.

quoted from bowlersparadise (http://www.bowlersparadise.com/shop/balls/faq/cgi-bin/smartfaq.cgi?subject=1021890477)........
What should I avoid using for cleaning my bowling ball?
Alcohol & Windex: Alcohol and windex do not penetrate oil and dirt effectively. They tend to lay on top of oil and dirt and, when wiped with a towel, smear along the ball's surface leaving behind residue that is absorbed into the surface pores.
but there are those that say rubbing alcohol works for them.....

If you use an over the counter cleaner on your equipment, make sure is does not contain ammonia. Ammonia is bad for the resins in the equipment and over time will change the surface texture.
I like to use 409 cleaner when I am on the lanes, it is a good de-greaser and cleans the surface quickly. However, when I am done bowling, I still use a normal ball cleaner - track is my preference.

So Gryndryno, your saying that Track cleaner looks and feels cleaner than Ebonite cleaner, but that is the but that is like alchol for me. Alcohol seems like it cleans better than the Ebonite cleaner and the towel is alot more dirty when I use Alcohol, but when I use Ebonite it does seem as clean and the towel is not dirty. But I can prove that I get WAY better pin action when I use the Ebonite Cleaner over Alcohol. My question is, Do you see any difference on the lanes when you use the cleaner? (like better pin action, hits hard, etc..) Have you bowled any high games with Track cleaner over Ebonite Cleaner? because if you have then I might just get some.... :)

I will continue to use both, the ebonite cleaner for use during bowling. Clean 'N Dull once a month. I would suggest trying it and doing half of your ball and just feeling the difference.

I used to use rubbing alchol and then switched to columbias' cleen & dull and I noticed a big difference in the balls reaction.:D :D I usually clean my ball after each time that I bowl with it. The other day I was in a hurry and used alchol and it didn't feel the same so I did the clean &dull.:D :D

I have found "simple green" cleaning draws some of the oil out but leaves a residue on the ball surface which I clean off with denatured alcohol then I take the track marks off with a grey or white pad then alcohol again.I clean balls after each night of bowling but some still wear out.

But can you tell a difference in your balls performance?
