question on pin, CG, MB position. how does a balls' reaction change if the pin is in some weird spot, instead of inline with the CG and MB? My brother, sister, and I got my dad a new ball for christmas, and somehow my brother and I got talking about pin position and i was wondering what an unusual pin position would do to the ball

Well most of the time, its referred to as the cg being out of line. The reason why is because thats the middle object. If its out of line, it could make it very hard to drill the way you want to because if the cg is in a wierd spot, it could make it hard to bring back to legal weights.

Oh...I know what you mean. It doesnt do anything but effect if a weight hole is needed.

If the CG is inline with the MB and pin directly you could layout a ball strong looking like this
...p
o o
...CG
O
...MB

if you had a CG shift to the right say...if would look like this...
...p
o o
.......cg
O
...MB

see, the CG would then in this ball make a more dramatic weight hole needed. Generally...right handers want either straight in line or a CG shift to the left for strong drilling options or alot of them. Lefties the opposite (but still with the no shift position)

Well, the only thing that difficult about drilling it is getting it back to legal. Other than that, we have seen and drilled balls and it doesn effect what the ball does by where the CG is as far as left or right of centerline. The ball reacts the same

On the No Mercy line you want the opposite, for a right hander you would want the CG offset to the right and left for lefties.

This is why some balls are better for righties and lefties... even though they don't make balls for either hand specifically. It would be nice to know, especially for proshops when they special order a ball for a customer... would be useful for online purchases.
