what do you guys have your surface at on the nmb? right now i have mine at oob finish, as well as my black diwo and they seem to hook about the same amount in heavy oil. im thinking i might want to take down the nmb so it is better in the heavy oil. it isnt as good as i think it should be because it should definatly out-hook a widow...

I've had mine at every surface imaginable. Right now I have it 1000 abralon polished. Unbelievable reaction and carry. Absolutley love it now. I was kinda dissapointed when I first got it, but don't be fooled, a surface adjustment can make this thing come alive.

im glad to hear it!

ive had it sometimes and it is amazing, but others its no stronger, maybe less than the widow and that just doesnt seem right. ill have to find the time to play around with it...

I have mone OOB finish but polished. It gives me a little more length but a strong backend . And maybe it's just me ,but being polished it seems it hits harder also.

could it be my layout? the ball seems to get really deep, it just doesnt have that big backend like the widow...

Are you righthanded? If so That layout looks to be more of a strong or controlled arc . It's deffinately not an agressive backend layout . In order for it to have alot of backend the hart should have been placed on the left side of the thumb in your track area for a right hander. Placing the hart in your track should have also put the Cg in grip or left of grip center. You could try taking the surface down say to 1000 and see if that helps but I think that will only get you more of an earlier roll and not alot of backend.

got the ball down to 1000 with a little polish. it works better but still now quite what i was looking for... its still a good ball and im definitely getting better with it, but im thinking the anger would have suited my style a little better.

i talked to the driller about changing the layout and she said it would only get me a few boards if i was lucky to go to drilling #1 so im not going to bother doing that.

If you want more overall hook stick to surface changes like you said. If you want a bigger backend, you will need to redrill it like Bubba said. That pin is too close to your axis for a big backend

That ball would be ideal for Drilling #1 for a right hander.

well i dont foresee getting it redrilled any time soon... what conditions would this drill be best for? would this work well on shorter patterns?

Looks like you ball is drilled layout #2, but with a surface adjustment you should be able to play the med-heavy oil. Might need to make a few adjustment with your hand or speed.

I think polishing my help as well from my personal experience.

I got to throw the Beat'n during a demo day over the summer and ordered one on the spot from my local pro shop. After having it drilled I threw it for 2 weeks and was ready to throw it away. I wasn't getting anything like the reaction I had when I threw the demo ball.

I talked to my coach and the pro shop and they recommended having the ball polished. As soon as they did that the ball gave me the reaction I was looking for and has opened up my game tremendously.

This is my first year bowling after about a 3 year layoff and my first ever experience with Hammer equipment and I am loving every minute of it. My winter league in January and my PBA experience over the summer were with my original equipment, mostly Track and a spattering of Brunswick.

Since I started bowling with the Beat'n my average has jumped up 25 pins in my fall league and is still climbing.

I can't wait to throw my Black Widow for the first time tomorrow night!

I JUST bought a BWS and knew NOTHING about how to have it drilled mine the HEART is drilled even more right of the thumb hole than the one in the pic ! But I think I know why I am getting such a arc instead of the hook I think I wanted ! But I am learnng to roll it. Speed seems to have a LOT to do with it I think since it drilled like mine is

I get a small hook at the back end or a slow arch . I thought it would snap hook . boy was I wrong but live and learn .....:o
