My moment of truth, here it is, Help me Decide 08' Heavy Oil Ball !

Okay, im ttrying to decide on a heavy oil ball and I Really want an anger.
I wanted to get the same drill as blister....but he's my brother and were not quite done with the sibling rivalry thing.
Here are my options.

MoRich:
LevRG

Hammer:
Anger
No Mercy
Hawg

T-Road Solid

Columbia300:
Resurgence

Visionary:
AMB Particle
Ogre

when i first threw my anger on heavier oil conditions, i was shocked at the reaction that i got. I would go for the anger, it's a great ball.

The Hawg is a pretty good heavy oil ball, if you can get one. It's been discontinued for a while. Barring that, I'd say get a NM, or an Anger, but I haven't thrown either one...

But if your not a true hammerhead? I would go with the LevRG. I have to guys on my Tuesday league one is a tweener one is a full roller. They both hook the hell out of it no matter what the condition. Heavy oil yea, sure but it rolls really really really early.

Hammers go long and come on strong...(no wonder my girlfriend calls me HAMMER) so if you don't have enough hand in it don't throw a hammer, they're not for the weak.

Another fairly good heavy oil ball is the Roto Grip SD-73 Classic.

I have the NM and NMB which I use in heavy oil. Ive heard nothing but great reviews about the Anger however and that will be my next ball.

Just get the effing Anger, dont mind you cant control it...you should seriously drill it different slightly.

If you want this ball for the PBAE league we're doing, then get an AMB Particle, honestly...this ball goes through the oil. But still, if you get the Anger, lay it out slightly different, the way you through you prolly want to get the pin a little further from your PAP.

Wow I can't believe you didn't even consider the No Mercy Beat'n. Aguy in our league has both the anger and the beat'n you always see him throwing the Beat'n, how ever I don't think either one are drilled properly for him. I tried throwing his anger and it hooked about as much as my spare ball (it's not drilled for me either :)). But For me on our heavy shot I love the NMB!

I throw a shot with 325+ RPM on the ball.
From what I know im a Medium/High track Stroker.
I throw mainly 2 lines and all I want is a ball that will complement them both, but on a heavier shot.

Seriously if u want a heavy oil ball... go with the amb particle...

ive good things about the resurgence.....

the No Mercy beatn is good.. just i think you might have to change the surface of the ball just a tad

There no TRACK THE RISING. thats the ball for heavy oil. Or the visionary immortal solid. But the AMB PARTICLE is the thing u would buy for true flood.

I have an Anger and NM...

NM pin is parallel with the fingers and can handle a good deal of oil. I would say that I would go for much more oil than middle of the road not the real soup.

The Anger on the other hand needs lots of oil in the middle and backend. I have a problem with it rolling out without enough oil in the middle part of lane. But then again the ball is drilled to roll early. I don't know what it would be like to have a ball with the pin up.

I do throw the Anger. I also throw the Gamebreaker. Both are good balls for heavy oil. BUT I would go with the Ebonite Gamebreaker if your gonna throw PBA patterns. I have used mine on 2 different patterns and The Gamebreaker stuck to the lane like there wasn't any oil on it. My Anger didn't seem to like that much oil. It kinda skidded alot on the top. But that is just me. I didn't vote but if your gonna pick one then I guess go with the Anger.

I voted for NM, but would get the NMB for heavy oil with a cleaner back end, or the Hawgzilla if there is a lot of carrydown.

I would buy this ball for the Shark and Scorpion Patterns......
It could also be a great regualr hooking ball on fried lanes, I know, im crazy.

I would chose basically anything early for this ball, it has intense rev possibility, which would help the ball get through a tougher shot.

_Why_
I would probably prefer this ball because I can always get its sand grit changed rather than on the AMB, the AMB really wont rev up as much on the backend, thus, will not have the ear-shattering pin crash bowlers as myself like to orgasm at. =^.^=

im getting the Anger real soon few weeks i hope for Heavy oil i would say go anger i've seen it shot and the NMB i mean both great balls dont get me wrong but like whats his name said if you dont have the hand for a hamer dont get it but im a true hammer head end of story

AMB will still hit good, it doesn't matter where it hooks, just if it saves energy after.

I have the immortal solid , still trying to figure it out but it isn't hooking that much in oil.. or on a regular shot. I still don't know if it isn't burning up too soon.. but that shouldn't be the problem on a heavy oil shot .. which is the case on my pba shots.. ball won't move.. the anger does..
granted the anger is a 4 inch pin to pap axis leverage and the solid is 5 inch pin to pap 20 deg from val 70 deg drill angle. The ball is nice and smooth but it is very responsive to different hand release angles..

I think I need a weight hole.. not sure whether to create more flare or shorten the core for an earlier hook.. I think more flare.

I still want to polish it up to see if that stores more energy for down the lane break.

I would go for the anger.. seems to work on any condition and carry..
I will probably get the amb particle just for kicks so I can have a ball that looks and feels like a cinder block.

I use my Anger for heavy oil and it hits so hard that it makes up for the carry difference between a PBA and house shot.

Also, another reason for the Anger is because it is symmetrical core, and symmetrical cores usually read the backend very nicely, better than an asymmetrical core. I've thrown my brother's LevRG and my Anger, his LevRG is supposed to have an early arcing drill, but it still goes longer than my Anger (despite a closer pin to PAP drilling by about a half inch and the MB being at 45 degrees, and the pin height is the same, but the pin buffer is obviously smaller, probably accounting for some of this). The LevRG reads the mids, but waits to make its move on the back to be honest, from what I've seen, it isnt a heavy oil ball as much as a medium-heavy. (I compared the two with the same surface by the way, both at 1000)

I know I can use my Anger all 3 games I shoot in my PBAex league.

My Anger is always first out of the bag. It's almost 9 months old now and has been used every week since then. It just started to loose some of the back end so I soaked it last night, used some 800 wet dry on it and soaked it again. Oil was pouring out of it after the buff up. We'll see how it work's this week.
