I am pretty sure I am not the only one with this problem. Just wanted to get some ideas about how others are coping. I have been away from Bowling since the late 80s and am just getting back. Recently I tried bowling with a group from work and discovered that my old ball would not break. Then I was told about the new lane materials etc. I bought a used No Mercy, had it plugged and re-drilled. Because of Arthritis in my hand I went with the conventional grip rather than the fingertip grip. I am still contemplating getting a second ball and drilling with a fingertip grip. Looking for some feedback from others.
I am very happy with the ball, I do keep it clean after each session. Having a problem with leaving the 10 pin or getting splits even though I am hitting the pocket. Highest game so far is 210

The 10 or split on a pocket shot just sounds like a little bit of entry angle issues to me. Try moving back a couple inches on your approach and see if that solves it.

Thanks, I will try that tonight. I have been getting a lot of opportunities for making my splits. Last week in 3 games I had 8 splits, but I made two of them

Have you tried bowling with a brace to help with Arthritis pain? I don't have it but I do however have an overstretched tendon in my bowling hand. The one that controls the ability to close your fist. This can be quite painful at times. I find wearing a brace to help alot.
Rather than getting a 2nd ball drilled fingertip, you can just have your current No Mercy's finger holes converted to finger tip from conventional. Wouldn't fingertip be easier with hand pains as well? (not really sure on that one).
As for leaving alot of 10 pins, its all about entry angle as previously stated. Making a move 1-2 boards right or left, as well as a step back or forward can make a worlds of difference in getting those 10 pins down.

I talked to the pro that plugged and re-drilled and he recommended the conventional grip for right now. The problem with my hand is my fingers are no longer straight and I am afraid that I would not be able to hold the ball. I did see a glove on Dicks Sporting Goods website that I might try if I go to the fingertip.
