I recently drilled an Anger. I was immediately impressed more than I've been in a long time by any ball.
I used the ball in a tourney this weekend and really liked the reaction. Now, I'm thinking of drilling out a Doom. I'm looking for comparisons between the two, more specifically with similar surfaces.
My anger is drilled:
3 3/8 pin to pap
3 3/8 cg to pap
OOB finish
My stats:
325-350 rev rate
minimal tilt
typically high axis rotation
17mph ball speed at the pin decks

From what I have gathered, by seeing these ball rolled... the Anger is lot smoother of reaction than the Doom. The Doom will be very clean through the front part of the lane before it makes it move in the backend, very angular.
Do you want to know the ball will react like at 2000 Abralon (Dull)?
Personally, I would try to keep the surfaces as different as possible, to keep some variety in ball reaction.

Drilled like your Anger and at the same surface, the Doom will still be a bit longer. I would suggest leaving it at oob and using a longer pin to pap on the Doom so you dont take away all of its flip.

I'm looking for a ball motion similar to the Anger, but slightly weaker overall. I was thinking drilled the doom similar or with a slightly weaker pin placement and knocking the shine off and going with 4000 Abralon.

Then that would work. Just drill it with a little longer PtoP to take out some flare. More like 4"

Well, the Doom is on the way. :D The shop only had a 14lber.
I used the Anger Saturday on the Scorpion. I coach at the center Sat mornings and the High School kids are using the PBA patterns this year.
I bowled 4 games the previous week, but didn't have the Anger ready to throw yet. Last week, I had nothing with me to play right of ten. I played them alittle more inside, about 20-12 with my Original Inferno. I missed the hole once and shot 195 the first game. I never found good carry and only put together a 586.
This week, I had the Anger with me and was able to play straight up 7 on the right lane and 8 on the left and put up 470+ for two games. I can see more Hammer stuff in the bag in the near future.

The Anger is a very underated ball . It out hooks any ball Hammer has out at this moment. When there is oil this is the ball to turn to. It loves and eats it up. Nice bowling and get them Hammers in the bag real soon
