OK I wipe my ball down after each frame bowled now . BUT I don't belong to a league yet ! What do you do say after a strike or your second ball during a league ?? I mean the next guy wants up there you can't just hang around waiting for the ball to return when your DONE ! BUT with todays equipment the ball needs to be wiped off . Do't it drive you a little nuts with your ball sitting there loaded with oil and you can't get it and wipe it off ??

I would think as long as your wiping it off before you roll it again youll be ok. I always make sure to wipe mine before i roll it vs. after

I agree, wiping the ball should be part of your preshot routine, so no worries. Some people dont even wipe there ball between shots.

I agree wholeheartedly with what the others say, and even if you with the PBA on Sunday that is what the pros do.

Instead of wiping down your ball after it comes back, the wipedown is part of your normal pre-shot routine when you are getting ready to throw your next ball. The ball sitting there for a few minutes with oil on it is ok, after all, you're going to clean it at the end of the night anyway.

I have found that this season I do better not wiping between each shot. The reason is our house seems to be using less oil(or some other factor gets rid of it) and if I "leave" the oil on my ball I get a way better reaction. Noe if I tug it and it comes back with a big streak of oil I'll wipe it, then start my non wiping pre-bowl routine.

I agree, Wiping the ball down before it goes down the lane is very important. It is part of my pre-shot every game. By doing so it helps me relax and get focused on the shot I want to make.
So if the guy behind you doesn't understand that than OH WELL!!!!!!

The problem comes when there's nothing on the ball!! Lot of houses don't put enough oil down,or they have wipers on the ball return to try and clean the ball. Wiping a ball when there's nothing on it is just wasting time. Stop holding up the league. Roll the ball already.

i do the same thing... but wipe the ball just before you are about to bowl again... most balls dont soak in the oil that fast...

1. When you first get there your balls should already be clean and free of any oil.
2. Throw your first shot and if you get a strike go sit down and if not get ready for your next shot, but stay off the approach so whoever is next to you can bowl.
3. Pick up your ball when its your turn and take your towel and wipe it off of all the oil, it seriously only takes like 5 seconds tops so nobody will get pissed and about 75% of the league bowlers there will do the same thing.
4. Throw your second shot and then sit back down.
5. Repeat all thru the night.

Good luck!!!

Well in some cases you might be right, But sorry buddy your wrong. If you stop to think about it by the time your team mate finishes the frame and the guy over on the left throws his ball and the guy on the right throws his ball, I would have already cleaned my ball and would already be in my pre-shot route anyway so relax. It doesn't slow things down nor am I in anyones way. No harm, No foul. Do whatever floats your boat and I will do mine.
:D  ;)

It's sad but I am the only bowlers who wipes the ball before each shot. Besides my girlfriend and I think we're the only ones who clean them either. One of our egomanical team mate's BWP looks like he dug it out of the ground.

Is this in a league where you 2 are the only ones who wipe your balls? Like I mentioned in my other post already, I'd say atleast 75% of the people who bowled in my league wiped their ball down. Its just not right if you dont, especially if you hook the ball or want some kind of reaction out of it.

There are some nights where I won't even wipe the ball off at all. It all depends what pre shot routine feels better for me. To wipe, or not to wipe?

I prefer to give a little shake. But remember, if you shake more than twice you're just playing with yourself.

Oh wait...

But hey, with balls that big how can you resist playing with them. hehehe

i've never seen anyone wipe the ball after a strike shot (unless it's the 10th). it's a pre-shot routine for sure. just clean your ball after you bowl every time and wipe it before you make your shots and deep clean it about every 50 games or so if you notice loss of reaction.

I see I didn't explain myself properly. There is no one else rolling, there is NOTHING on the ball. Everyone is waiting...and this clown is wiping off his ball. No,no. Not taking a towel and flipping the ball a few times, that's normal. I mean trying to resurface the damn ball with a towel, taking 3 or more minutes to throw. Why wasn't he doing this while I was rolling? I have asked some of these guys if they'd like a time out,the pro shop is still open, why don't you go get the ball resurfaced??? We'll wait. Four hours for two guys to roll three games is way to long. Start taking pinfall away and watch how fast these "wipers" can really roll.
