Was watching the tour and noticed that green and yellow ball that Billy was switching to. Does anybody know what it was? Its really cool looking and I was just wondering if it might be a new release or not.

The Vicious is an old pearl particle.

I'm pretty sure it was the big blue. TV doesn't display some colors correctly and that should be blue and yellow. Thats why they change the color of billiard balls for TV

i agree with bluerrpilot, the ball was a big blue. along with the Black Widow and the missed spare attempt with a blue vibe.

BradM

do a google search for a particle vicious or a vicious particle. It looks just like the ones Ive seen and if my 3k dollar tv is that far off on colors Im going to be angry. :D

It dont think it was the viscious particle, I looked at the pic and the ball on t.v. didnt look like that.

pba.com is showing the big blue pearl. Why is the color messed up in the broadcast?

BubbaRay

That was not the viscious particle .

It looked like the toxic and had more yellow to it than the green. I've seen one other person use the toxic that was colored that way.

Buddies lists it as:
Billy Oatman - Hammer Black Widow Solid bowling ball, Hammer Raw Hammer Toxic, Hammer Blue Vibe, Brunswick Denny's Viz-a-Ball, Hammer Shirt, Hammer Towel, Etonic Dress shoes, Vise Patch, Etonic Patch

But the bigger news there's a new Black widow coming out!

At first glance I thought it was a Vicious Part. as well but on closer study it was a BBP. If he would have just used 1 ball he would have done better. He was defiantly over thinking the whole time. He went back to the return once because of a bad feel and even had a "balk". He'd still beet me 90%(at least) of the time.

Guess how many Hammers are in Billy O's van? Bet you there's a BBP in there somewhere and it fell out and rolled itself into the lanes. All I know is it looks exactly like the BBP I got from Danny Wiseman.

12-18-2007, 12:06 AM
It may have looked like one, but you can be sure if Billy used one with the Hammer reps there , he would be told about it and it's a violation of his contract don't you think

Why would using a Hammer bowling ball...regardless of whether it's on the shelves right now or not...viotlate his contract.

TenPinSniper
12-18-2007, 02:11 AM
Know when PA was on staff, he was allowed to use older balls or he did not seem to have issues... he traded a local proshop here a new unreleased ball for a the Original Vicious. The Ebonite-Hammer rep found it real interesting when my proshop guy called him asking why one of his customers bought this unreleased ball from another local proshop. (Lets just say it was made up to my proshop.)

Really don't think that Hammer cared...

What does it matter if Billy used a ball that was not in-production... Heck it could be an unreleased ball. Sure these guys already have used them.

***BTW, X-Outs can be because of coloration issues, which could be cool.***

Brunswickinsiders takes pictures of ALL BALLS USED ON THE SHOW, regardless of manufactor. It's safe to say the picture of the BBP on that site was the actual ball Billy O threw.

FYI, this season that site has been a gold mine of information!!! If you really want to understand what's going on during each tour stop, take some time and read the entire site. Even though it's a "Big B" site, the knowledge is universal.

That site should be an example for every ball rep on tour.

There was already a post about this in the PBA section of the forums and there was a big confusion and argument about it, and everyone thinks they know, but to be honest no one really knows, there was like 3 different answers, they were: a big blue pearl x-out, a viscious, and a toxic.

I watched ESPN 360 replay. It definitely looks most like the one on brunswickinsiders.com. Why would he throw an x-out though?

TenPinSniper

It could have had top weight he was looking for, for a particular drill and reaction.

Who know what the ball reps have in their bag of tricks.

Thepainscoming

Maybe it was the only Big blue pearl they still had, because they dont have any more particles. Thtas why it could have been an x-out.

I own the exact same ball as Billy O's. It's a Big Blue Pearl. No doubt. End of story.
Now,Billy's been gone for a while. I belive the pressure of the moment got to him. He thought he was walking a tightrope and one small misstep and bye-bye TV show. He actually talked himself into a bad position that just kept snowballing on him. If it had happened during qualifing,he would have recovered. But on the tube with all of us and BG and the Hammer folks watching...meltdown. Bet it doesn't happen again though. Billy O is too tough for that.

PBA.com has it as a Big Blue PEARL. There's a difference between the Pearl and a regular Big Blue. I own a BBP. Same as Billy O's. I would trust the PBA to be able to read on the sheet from the weight room what kind of ball it is.
