Well tonight at league I was rolling really bad. One of the guys I was bowling said that I was trying to hard. Ok I really do try to hard. But when I started to think about my approach and backswing. I realized I was trying to force the ball to do what I want, not letting the ball work the way it was drilled. So I stoped pulling the ball back in my backswing, started letting it swing free. That was the first thing. Next thing was my feet. I have a 5 step approach and when I try hard I seem to run to the line. So my fix was to shorten my first setp (or pace step) those for slowing my feet down; this along with my free arm swing allowed me to have better balance at the line those giving me more power allowing for more revs. So long story short my 5 practice games after league where alot and I mean ALOT better.

So the just of it is better balance starts with your approach and backswing.

For me it means a lot. It is amazing how you can get the front 6 than it's gone for the rest of the game, and you can't figure out why. For me it is almost always timing. I was practicing with the wife and kids the other day and my timing was way off as I was watching them, and giving all of them pointers. Lot's of good spare practice though.

Tell the truth,Neo. You just watched me the other day when we rolled. Strange,I was on my way home from Chucktown and was thinking about that very thing. I thought it would have taken you longer to figure it out. Damn proud of you. How far to the right did you have to move?

Thanks for being proud of me. No one really says that to me much. Thanks for being a great friend. I moved just 3 boards. But I also moved my target to the 2nd arrow.

I always knew you had it in you. You got game. Most guys are too thick headed to make the move. I'm happy for you that you figured it out sooner rather than way later. Like around the time you turned 50. Now,if you had the cash,I'd see if you want to roll Double's in that Lucky 13 deal. $10,000 to win could buy a lot of new Hammers!:D It's 22 weeks at $16.00 a week, per bowler. Finals in June in Columbia. Downside-it's at all AMF houses. How are you on synthetics???

The doubles starts Wed. Jan 9th. Every wed. after that. Then the top teams from every AMF house go to Columbia to roll off. It's at Triangle Lanes in Chucktown. End of 526 and Hwy 17. Let me know if you can do it.
Gotta call Paul Tew and see what's up with the MoD tournament. I was going to wait til after the first of Jan to do it. Gotta get my entry in for the scratch tournament in Goldsboro,NC first. $120 to enter-it's gotta be postmarked by the 4th of Jan to get in. $5,000 to win. 6 game block, total scratch pinfall, top 16 have match play-best 3 out of 5-top 4 have one game rolloff for the bucks. If you want to go you can ride with me.
