I finally went ahead and bought a spinner. Its gonna make doing surface adjustments and cleaning alot easier for me. I can't wait for it to get here. I got the Vertex Mold 1/3hp spinner. Its not the most powerful one, but it should do just fine for what i am going to be using it for. I also bought a few bottles of cleaner and polish.

Very Nice! Let me know what you think about it. I've been considering buying one for quite some time, and now I'm SERIOUSLY considering it. Not only for myself, but my friends would get some good use out of it as well (using it on their equipment). But it tickles my gibblies when I think about being able to do surface adjustments, resurfaces, CORRECT polishings, etc.

Congratulations!

^^^yeah. My arm is getting tired of the hand-polishing, although it always came out really good because i got a few tips from my pro shop guy on hand polishing my balls.

You should share some of those "secrets" just in case it'll help some of us (... like ME!) ;) lol

Basically all he told me is to only use a small amount of polish, and give it a quick 30 second hot water bath after the hand polishing to re-open the pores of the ball. It seems to work good. The ball stays polished, but is also tacky at the same time.

Just take it easy when you first get started with the spinner. If you are unsure try practicing on some old balls first to see how things work out. I did and it was helpful as learning experience.

You will now be able to do things you could not do before. Just be careful not to get over excited as I did and change to many cover finishes at once. If possible test your changes on practice days first before the league night.

If you really want to see what it does, write down what you do and how the ball reacts each time you adjust something. I found this helpful to keep the ball as I like it. It also helps to keep you from getting carried away with making to many changes and not remembering what you did.

Good luck with your spinner, your probably love it as I do.

If you have a dishwasher or a bucket, you can accomplish the same thing... sometimes better (per my proshop guys opinion at least).

oh really? didn't know. i just saw the oven at a local pro shop and it looked like it was taking a crap load of oil out. none of my balls have lost any hook and i have bowled probably 150-200 with each ball, so i will try the bucket first when the time comes. do you have to plug the grip and thumb holes?

No. That doesn't hurt the ball in any way. The ball doesn't absorb water thru the holes ;)
