Hi guys,

Happy New Year.

Very impressive first Bite pass around tonight. Wood lanes from 1962....pretty big top hat lane condition to start because the track blows open with about 5 units outside 8 but very little friction on the wood out there, so I can play up the boards without it over reacting.... Drilled it up box finish, pin directly under the fingers on the midline, MB kicked out to 60 degrees, CG was offset on the mb/pin line about an inch left so it's under the palm but still right of CL....I'm kind of speed dominant with a little too much tilt and axis rotation...... picture a little more speed and tilt on Danny Wiseman and you have a good idea of how I throw the ball....

I let a better hand than I have throw it first to convince myself the ball would hook. He tossed 5 out of 6 with it before leagues. I let one of my teammates (300/800 with my No Mercy last year) who has heavy end over end and a very high track check it out during practice...3 strikes....I got to throw it 3 practice shots..all strikes.....game one started for me, front 9, yank 4 pin - 279. Game 2 ....double, smash 10, sheet...279....started thinking the house record a possibility again (oops!), 3rd game, transition time!... earlier break outside, around 6, but with carry down towards ten inside... tap 10, a missed spare, adjust high, adjust again - chop the bucket, adjust slam split, muddle along making good moves left with less hand and more reach and still slamming but no string...oh well..right lane became finicky..still a strong first showing - 740 total....passed it around some more after we got done to the opposing team....

This ball makes a super quick transition from axis tilt to heavy roll. The cover reminds me very much of the Pain cover (which I can really use as a selling point) , yet this ball reacts nothing like the Widow solid or the Widow pearl. I think might be good around here. Where the Pain flipped, stood up and rolled heavy, almost flattening, this ball stands up the same and then flares to keep it going! Very interesting entry angle....Where the Widow solid made a sharp move and stopped, this ball continued....

Unlike some high end balls in the past, like the One, No Mercy, Gamebreaker, Widow solid, Hawgzilla, I hope this cover maintains the bite I saw tonight for awhile and doesn't require the same high maintenance as those balls. Most bowlers just will never keep the cover as clean and oil-free as those balls require and thus become disappointed. I hope this cover stays as tacky as it is now and not lose that "Bite"! It REALLY reminds me of the Pain, but with more continuance...

This ball will get a VERY long look and numerous pass-arounds!

Looks like another big seller for me and a ball I can manipulate for my customers! Thanks guys!!!

Great writeup, Kegler/Jim! And welcome to the forums! I look forward to more reviews like this :)

I'd really like to get ahold of one of these, but I can't keep my No Mercy or Cherry VIBE (for that matter) on the lane, so I'll probably be passing. But this sounds like the high end Anger. Imagine drilling it with an early and strong layout... would it outhook the anger? From everything I've read (from you and others) I think it might.

I've drilled up around 12-15 Angers so far and the one thing they have in common seems to be that, in the original Anger box finish, the Anger revs and bites in about the same area, but bleeds off energy very quickly in box condition. I've had to shine EVERY single Anger I've drilled to some degree to fine tune the reaction. The good news is, I could!

That's where it ends! The Anger will roll much more end over end than the Bite. The Bite flares more from the same breakpoint with less original surface texture, thus creating more continuation.

Seems the big difference is in the flare. Also, remember, the smoother you can keep the surface the greater the backend (energy retention) Bite will be!

Good luck!

keglerskave welcome to the Hammer message board. That is a well written review of the BWB. I think this ball will be a high maintenece ball like the others to keep it tacky and working the way it was designed to. I have a question to as and it's a little off topic. Are you from Pa. The reason I ask is I went to PBA school in Ohio back in the 80's and was matched up with a Jim Stem accross the table from me.

Also, I just noticed that Buddies has a REALLY GOOD video review of the Widow line (except for spare ;) )

Well....you got the name right, and yes, I'm from Pa. I lived in Montpellier Ohio in 1984, in between years of going to Vincennes....don't remember the PBA school, but, well, those were the 80's and I don't remember alot of it! People have told me I'm tough to forget...whether they want to or not! Who knows!

Very nice review and thanks for that. I will get my second BWB tomorrow. I said yesterday that I was drilling it 65/20 w/4 in pin, but I changed that for now and the 1st one is 25/20 w/4 in pin. I want to see if this thing will get through the heads in oob condition with a drilling that rolls at your toe ! If it does that and the skid flip drilling I am planning works, this ball may be the most versatile ball since the Ultimate Inferno. I am going to use the 25/20 today a bit and in league tomorrow and then I will have the new one on my doorstep when I get done. Since tomorrow is my birthday and I have tomorrow night off, I will stay up longer and drill the new one probably 75/20 instead. Its all going to be determined on how this 1st one rolls. Sounds to me the 75 or 80 first angle will be no problem if the backend reaction is as this review says. Now keep in mind, I am about 15 mph and med to high track. Med revs and just been out of a wrist device for about 2 months now. But enough of all that, I will let you know by Friday AM. I will do my first real ball to ball comparison for you Hammer Heads.
