They could have been victim to bad shipping. If the balls sat in an extremely hot OR cold place for any amount of time during any transit, were dropped, etc...
Even then, it could have been a bad batch. Or a combination of bad batch and bad shipping. Who knows. I've heard alot of good about the BWB, so I wouldn't use a single source to make preliminary judgments.
from what i see i wouldn't doubt that those are all the same person on a different name... what are the chances that the same thing happened to that many people in a 3 day span. and it just so happens they all like the bws that they own and they like twisted fury's...
just my thoughts.

Doesn't say where these guys are. Wonder if it's a cold weather transport problem? If you don't let a ball sit and thaw out for a few days this is what can happen. As far as the "melted spot",that would be a manufacturing issue. Who was asleep in Quality Control at the Hammer(tm) plant? All in all,bad news for a new release.

I have had no such problem with my BWB. Looks great. Have 9 or so games with it so far and no negative issues at all.

I don't take alot from reviews posted by 14 year olds on the internet. If the ball doesn't work for someone, there are 3 possible reasons:
1. Bowler doesn't have a clue what he/she is doing.
2. "Pro"shop guy doesn't have a clue.
3. Bad matchup between bowler and ball.
I'd guess most bad reviews are a product of #1. On ballreviews, I only read reviews from trusted users.

Looks like a bunch of Brunswick slappies just trying to promote their favorite gear. Anyone looking at the Bite wouldn't be looking at the twisted. One's a pearl vs a solid. Huge difference there.

wow that doesn't sound good at all. it could have been the same person under different names like rowdy suggested, but it's something everyone should look into before buying this ball. i personally don't think that i'm going to buy this ball. after watching the video on buddies it looked similar to my black widow and no mercy beat n'. i just don't think i need the ball with my current arsenal. i'm going to use what i have for now and get good then go from there.

The odd looking spots on the ball are cool looking ! It has small spots and big spots and all kinds of swirl designs in it ! I would buy this ball if I were you. It is nothing like your BWS for sure. I am having a hard time making this ball roll out ! If there is a prob with the coverstock, Hammer will honor it !

Have to agree it sounds like Twisted Fury fans. Is it true Brunswicks are now made in Mexico? Any Hammer ball I have ever had hit hard and never had a problem with the coverstock./

i'm not worried about the coverstock cracking, because i'm going to buy it from my pro shop and not online. the only reason why i'm hesitant is that i'm doing good with my no mercy beat n' on heavy oil. my arsenal right now is no mercy beat n' (heavy), black widow solid (heavy-med.), cherry vibe (med.-light), and black widow clear (spares). where could i fit a black widow bite into that? even if the lanes are flooded and i couldn't get my no mercy beat n' to move i still have a super carbide bomb that will hook on anything.

Those were the only reports of this happenening to the BWB. I highly doubt Hammer would let a product out the door that this happens to. I perosnaly do not think those reports hold any truth to them unless it was a weather problem like what was stated.

Si,ees true. We makes all deese "B" balls in May-Hee-Co nows. Not so round?? Ees not my problemo.
This ball just came out, I think the 5th. Was it a bad batch or is Hammer having a problem with some of the batches? What has Hammer/Ebonite said in regard to balls cracking? I'm going to wait and see if more information is available. I never like to hear problems with a ball, not a good sign.

dss, welcome to the Hammer messageboard. I haven't heard anything from Hammer about this problem with the balls. The cracking may be due to cold weather during shipment . As far as a bad batch from the Factory, nothing has been stated from Ebonite or Hammer.

This is in response to the reports of the new Hammer Black Widow Bite cracking and strange spots on the ball.
I have just recieved an Email from Mr. Robert Reid, The VP Marketing Ebonite International , and he stated to me that Ebonite International has investigated this rumor and have conducted numorous product audits . They have no data to indicate that they have these problems with the New Black Widow Bite. The rumors have tended to come from only one site, and Ebonite International is investigating that too.
So let your mind be at ease about these rumors and if you want that new Bite, Go get it. Remember, NOTHING HITS LIKE A HAMMER

I am skeptical of those reviews, to say the least. My BWB looks amazing, on and off the lanes. It does exactly what they promised. It hooks hard and destroys the pins. I'm a relatively new bowler, with a 140 average. Today, with my BWB, I bowled solidly in the 190's for the 4 games I threw. I have the original BW also, and the Bite puts that one to shame. I highly recommend this ball. Absolutely love it.
