With my 140avg as of tonight I shot a killer series. Let 1 loose in the ditch and missed a few critical spares but I could not be happier. We took all 7 point and quite possibly overtook 1st place.
185 - 211 - 174 = 570

Nice! I just purchased a Berry Razor and was given a Black Hammer. I can't wait to get them drilled. I'm a high rev high track mid speed bowler so I have alot of problems when the oil's sparse.
Maybe it's alittle backwards, but I think Hammer would make a KILLING if they made some Urethane balls (not the PURE stuff, real old school Urethane) with some of the newer cores. Hell, they could just "test" the market by making them limited edition, but I feel confident that they'd do very well with a move like that. There's only money to be made when the balls are made for sport conditions, but 90% of the bowlers never leave the underoiled THS.

Kinda like some companies are doing by retroing their stuff. It would be nice to see Hammer do the same. Bring back the Nail for spares.

Ive been happy with these balls. Ive set a goal of getting my AVG to 170 and then purchasing a new ball.

Lane 1 actually makes a hardshell polyester ball with a high performance core... and it's useful on dry lanes. A guy in town has one and uses it when the lanes break down (he likes the down and in line).
Imagine a Urethane with a HART core or Gas Mask core. Nice, smooth, easy, predictable reaction with hitting power. I'm positive that those balls would have a market with League bowlers who don't face flood conditions regularly. Yes, there are still going to be people who want the latest and the greatest, who want the most aggressive ball on the market drilled with the most aggressive layout, but there are people looking to fill certain holes in their arsenals, too.
The PURE line was an attempt at that, but it was actually a reactive ball and those balls had a pretty aggressive backend on them.

Heck, I'd like them to remake a ball with the Nail Core and modern cover.
Bring back the original Hammer Core, the Sledge Hammer core, from my Burgandy Sledge Hammer (Mica-Particle).

I's like to see something with a little more cover than the XXXL Poly cored Lane 1 ball... Urethane would be pretty cool.
Like you said make a BW Low Flare Urethane... No Mercy Burnt Urethane...

Brunswick retroed the Purple Rhino and AMF retroed the Angle. The Nail or Black hammer with todays cores would make for an interesting ball. Start sending the suggestion to Hammer. On the count of three.

Sounds like a plan to me! Personally, I think the modern coverstock would be the easier way, with one of the good old cores. But, if the still have the recipe to the old covers... that would be sweet...

I am sure they still have them. On Brunswicks retro Purple Rino, they used the same core but made changed the cover to resin instead of urethane. If Hammer uses the Gas Mask Core in the old Black Hammer, I think it would make for a urethane ball that moves alot more than the older one.

I agree with all of yall. Even though I am new to all of this, the first ball I was ever given was a Faball Blue Hammer. I love this ball. It was bought when they first came out and only used a couple of times. My uncle and I have the same span so it has never been redrilled. I seem to use this ball more than my BWP in any lane condition. But since I need to get a new thumb insert put in, it stays at the house. How do we let Hammer know our ideas? I would love to see old school mixed with new school!

These mordern cores would probably add some pop at the pocket.
Wonder if the Ebonite-Hammer has the old recipes for the Faball covers.

I would imagine they still do. I would like to see the Original Black Hammer with the Gas Mask Core or the Blue Hammer with the Hart Core Tecnology. Some of the companies are retroing their older stuff and Ebonite/Hammer should think about this.

I'm sure any of the newer cores would be good on the old covers.
It would be cool to see some of the modern covers with classic cores.

Brunswick did it with their Purple Rhino Pro. The used the original core but changed the cover to resin. I have watch a fellow pro throw three of them all drilled differently . he had one drilled with the pin in the axis which should make the ball go pretty straight. The ball suprisingly moves alot more than expected.

Lane #1 also just came out with like an old school urethane with a performance core, Its called the Liberator. Buddies has the video up.

I might be starting to become a Lane 1 fan. I still love Hammer/Ebonite and will always use their equipment, but it seems they're only interested in 1 market, and unfortunately we're not all pros.

How about this:
a "No Mercy" Urethane
a "Black Widow" Urethane
a "Raw Hammer" Urethane
a "Vibe" Urethane

I received a response from Brian Graham today, 1 hour after "asking an expert".
"It is an interesting idea and has been discussed. However, there are no set plans for this type of ball at this time.
Brian"
That was the fastest reply from a company I've ever had. Impressed I am.

Right. Go ahead and put a Urethane out for all the major lines sporting similar (or same) cores. Do it once, do it in limited quantity, whatever. And I know they won't sell for everybody... but for certain people they'd jump all over the opportunity to have an old school predictable urethane ball with a new, bangin' core!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_JWt-DGlcs
That's the new Lane 1 ball idlehour was talking about. Look how it moves differently than the urethanes of old. The old urethanes were good... but look how it gains alittle extra WHOMP from the Lane 1 core.

Too bad the Lane#1 ball is $150 at Buddies.

I think I can safely say that whom ever Mr. Grahams replacement is, He will respond as quick as Brian did. Hammer has a reputation based on fantastic support . So in my opinion Hammer isn't about to tarnish their reputation.
Mr. Graham is 1st class and very personalble. He will be missed emensely.

X2... Mr Graham is a true ambassador for the Sport and Hammer. From what I have heard and read over the last week or so, I think he will succeed at the new job. The USBC must grow the sport and I think youth bowling is one the ways to grow the Sport.

It's the only way, as I see it. Too many old men set in their old ways with egos too fragile to support change now.

Brian is the man to do it. He was at the USBC before coming to Hammer. The youth is our future in this sport. Brian has the knowledge to bring the youth program to the frore front of Bowling. What he has done for Ebonite and Hammer, you can be assured he will give it 110% for the youth program.

Josh, I have to agree to an extent. I don't think it all old guys, but it's alot of them, and people that have been bowling 15+ years generally.

Right now I involved with my local bowling alleys youth program, so I'm looking forward to see what changes he brings. And the possibility of working with him in the future.
