So got my xmas gift from the wifey drilled today. 1st 188 not bad then 144 127 what happend!! I left more 7's 9's 10's then Ive ever seen 2nd game had x nine 9's in a row and plenty more in the other game...good spare work i suppose(that i missed many after frustration ill blame it on)....
Anyway these are lanes I just practice on cus the proshop is there always kinda dry. I was expecting the bwb to go brooklyn like crazy not the case...standing middle round 20 board shooting 10ish to hit...probably exagerating but my old blue on these lanes I felt shot around the same, I know that cant be right
med speed ave to low revs, and Im still new to bowling(2months in, since I was 12)
my guy said he wanted to go All purpose drilling bcus its easier to change the coverstock to get it to work for me/anyone with that...but if lanes were that dry what about fresh oil? maybe just still working on technique just wanted to see what you guys think... learned alot on here and keep on learning.

I hope not. No wonder it doesn't turn. What is it with these drill jobs on the Bite??? Sixth one I've seen that is way too tame.

oh no!!! thats what I was hoping wasnt necessary...but to what? figured skid flip was too much was considering strong layout? should I make him plug and drill Im not trying to pay twice in a few days for drilling that doesnt work?

Well Rowdy, one thing that can be throwing u off, is the span. My span is short and that one looks short also. that could be the reason that the mass bias is so low.

never seen the mb in that location. uh oh. i would drill this thing #3 strong layout w/ x hole. hook monster. great on med. to heavy oil for me.

juan, i agree with sparehater and hammerhead,
i also have a new bite and had several questions bout what to do.
i posted on here for the first time last week and beleive these people gave me some good advice............things i didnt know.
mine is drilled on the #3 layout ( i play in some heavy oil)
my pin is 4-5 and had a weight hole drilled.
i also have a hole drilled for my pinky finger (gives me a good natural ledge to throw off and extra lift) quite comfortable actually.
my driller had seen me throw the ball too.
remember, drill it how you want it. you throw it not him.
the same thing happened with my morich.
pro shop drilled it more the way he wanted it. dont think he had ever seen one before.
IT WAS WRONG
took it back in 2 days later told them this was not right, not what i wanted and im not going to pay for it again.
if they are concerned bout their reputation, they will fix it.
i more hated the fact that i had a brand new ball and it had to be plugged and look like a hand me down.
STAND STRONG, THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT.
i shoot from bout 21 board to the 5-6 board. just out of the river and my bite is like a boomerang, always comes back.
HAMMER WIDOW BITE
MORICH WEAPON OF MASS BIAS

juan the drilling on your ball looks fine I have drilled several widows with the pin in this location as for the mass bias its just a fine tune the pin is much more important i just drilled a bite for one of my high schooolers just like yours is drilled and he is doing well with it matter of fact he had the front nine this morning (but he also has a ton of hand) like you said you are new to this so don't be to quick to blame the ball i'm not sure who picked the drilling but i might have drilled it the same way being as your new and don't have a lot of equipment i think the all purpose was a good choice some of the other drillings can get too condition specific i will tell you that you have made a great choice by getting the bite and also remember than nine out of ten times ( its not the arrow its the indian) and if you don't think its hooking enough talk to your driller about a surface change instead of redrilling matching the cover to the surface you are bowling on is much more important than the drilling (just my thoughts)

I do have the smallest hand span Ive ever seen for a 6ft 230 rugger.
I am gonna go practice on some better lanes see if anything changes and if not talk to the proshop guy monday about a redrill/surface...just figured since it was so dry(virtually no track lines) wouldnt be surface but maybe the bite needs some oil to work? I dont know thats why I ask you guys.
CAPT EMO your right the part about it looking like hand me down will suck but would def rather have it work.

Theres no need to redrill that ball. Since your still somewhat new to bowling then that drill is fine for you. And the driller was correct in stating that the surface can always be adjusted. You are also on the right track in thinking that the lanes could be to dry for that ball. The cover is pretty strong and its layed out for early roll and somewhat smooth in the back. You will probably see it react differently once you get on a condition that has a little more oil up front.

juan give the ball a chance. It seems you only threw it a few times. I agree with bluerpilot. you can try a suface change and see if that helps but I would practice with it a few more times and decide on a surface change. I really do not se a reason to plug and redrill the ball being that you just got it unless the ball was totally drilled wrong in which the drill appears fine.

Blue is right. It doesnt matter what it looks like, the MB is 6 3/4 in from the pin ! End of discussion. If anyone here puts the pin in that location, it will look the same ! The lens always makes these look funny. I drilled my ball so I would have to sand the cover, and in my opinion , most good drillers will do this on new releases. There is no way to know how a ball will react in your house until you throw it. I think its drilled fine, just give it time. Some balls dont even start to react for 10 or 12 games. Mine are drilled skid/flip and early roll and the both had to have the covers adjusted. And by the way, I do not agree with the layout Hammer suggests for a skid flip but thats just my opinion. Every ball I have drilled like that rolls like a bear in the midlane ! If anyone would like a diff layout, just let me know.

Nothing wrong with that layout. Pin is a bit low and given the way that this ball hooks with ANY layout, you are probably burning up a bit. That's the reason you are leaving some funly single pins.
The BWB is a strong ball. You're probably going to need something else for medium conditions, such as a BWS.

lol yeah i like the pink on black. Wont get mixed up on the return.
Well I went to some better lanes the amf counrty club in baltimore where the Lumber Liquidators was held back in december.
Scores were a lil more average(182,145,177) lanes still dry but not as bad as the other house. Took it in the proshop there and the guy actually came and watched me bowl several frames (my other guy just drilled the ball) and he said I had high speed and was rev challenged as well as a "streched" on my grip. He suggested a plug and redrill that would work for me. He explained it a lot more after watching me then the other shop. and said this would get the ball reacting more like the bwb should.
Now Im really confused stay with it getting little movement, take it back to the other guy and hope he does better? or pay for a plug and drill from this shop?

Juan, teh second guy actually took the time to watch and help you. It's a tough decission and it's only up to you on what to do. We can suggest things to do but it's totally your decission. I would work with it alittle more and maybe try making a hand position change to get alittle more revs out of it. But like I said , it's up to you.
