Hi everyone, I am new here to the forum and have a few questions. First in my bag is a green hammer rusty nail and a black no mercy. I am not getting the consistant strong back end that I think I should be getting with this ball. I average 185 at the moment, I postiion myself usually on the 10 board and track around the 5-8 boards. My ball speed is generally around 12.5-12.9 MPH. I am just not sure if it my release is not strong enough and I need to pick up speed? However if I try to over power the ball I lose accuracy.I am also leaving way too many 10 pins and not quite sure what to do to correct. If there are any thoughts on this with the limited information I could give you I would be most thankful... I am trying to prepare myself for bowling at nationals in March.

Hi skan9 and welcome ot the message board. First of all I would like to ask how do you have the No Mercy drilled and if you could post some pics of the ball it will help so we can offer help. What type of lane conditions do you bowl on in the house where you mostly bowl at? I am going to point you to some links for some info here for your hand position and lane conditions.

We need that info to help you, but I can tell you this, playing that outside line that way with todays equiptment will no doubt result in many CORNER PINS ! And depending on the pattern, if it is a THS and you are playing out there, my guess is that the ball has burned up all its energy by the entry.

I hope this works here is a picture of my ball. The lanes I bowl on are synthetic with a med oil.

Thanks for all your help.

With that drill the ball is probably burning up its energy to quickly on a medium oil shot, try getting it polished and see how that works for you.

Polish a ball on synthetics??? No way. The ball would never come back. That No Mercy looks too polished anyway. Is that ball at 4000? Knock the cover back to at least 2000 and have fun.

I only bowl on synthetics and all my balls are polished except 1. I have no problem making them come back, it just delays the reaction, doesnt stop it.

I bowl with polished equipment on synthetics every week... i can't keep my balls on the right side of the lanes.

You guys should come bowl in Dead Moines,,,, with tha huge amounts of oil they dump on the lanes here, you'd have no use for a polished ball

I typically only bowl on synthetics and the balls that I have polished have no problem coming back. But I do think that NM is probably using up its energy to quick, polish has always helped me fix this

Thank You. Houses with synthetics typically cheap out on the amount of oil they put down. Roll at a house with synthetics and a real oil pattern,it's like bowling on ice. A polished ball would go straight in the ditch. Or just straight.

The pattern that Bubba and I bowl on is moderately heavy, its more of a medium heavy, I play deep on the oil (usually, depending on what ball) and the polished ones come up nicely.

How many games have you with this ball? That is the strongest drilling for that ball. It was recommended that this ball be resurfaced every 30 games and depending on the amount of games could have absorbed oil to the point that it has lost reaction. There are a lot of variables of what it could be causing the ball not to react. Including some mentioned above.
