Well I guess Bubba will have his work cut out for him. After a year of some pretty crazy smack, Bubba has been able to some what sedate the hammer forums, but now hammer is advertising the forums like this:
http://www.hammerbowling.com/images/hammer_boards.jpg

Well if that's the case, take the governor switch off , drop the gloves and get ready for some good old fashioned "marquis custom home builders" posting...

I think it's cool of Hammer to have the Honor Roll. It's pretty cool to see your pic scroll through the "T.V." But yeah you're right, that ad could open flood gates!

Seems like a pretty good forum here too. Knowledgeable bowlers helping others that are newer to the game.

This is very true Fatboy, I've bowled a 300 due to the tips I've learned here (thanks again Tenpin!) and the help I've been given with regards to ball care and even bowling execution have all been amazing. This is a good space on the web, and it's nice to see newcomers get it. :)

Cheers!

I've been really pleased with the welcome and advice I have received from the forums members.
I don't feel foolish or too shy to ask questions. Very happy to haunt these forums

Think of it this way Can... we've spent months (years?) here getting to know each other, brushing up on our knowledge, spamming up our post count... we'll look elite compared to all the other newbs that'll appear on the site ;)

the Point is not trying to look elite compared to the newb's or talking smack either. The reason we are here I hope is to improve / help / advise / share ideas / have some fun and make new firends. Talking smack and looking elite does not make a forum elite.

And I also agree it is great to see the amount of new members comming to the site.

I was joking, Bubba. :)

I think its a good way to get people to recognize the message board a bit more. Its always nice to see more fellow bowlers that are interested in sharing experience and gaining knowledge from this board. Plus, we might get more hammerheads this way :D

So this is the point of this thread was that we're trying to get this forum away from the smack talking days and hammer goes and advertises this as a smack talking forum.

Hey this is their space that they proved it for us, but Bubba it will be hard to bring out the "be cool" peace making when the message board is advertised as a smack forum.

And to be quite honest... looking at it from a technical standpoint, it's invaluable marketing. Search Engines loves these types of boards, and with all the conversation that goes on here it just means that more traffic will come thru the site. More traffic equals more potential buyers. Its the same thing as pulling people into a store. The hardest part of the experience is just getting them in the door. But if you can get them in the door, they will almost never leave empty handed ;)

I think you misinterpreted the message. They said "Hit the Hammer Forums". Hit = Smack. Besides, it's attention getting. More feedback = (hopefully) better products.

This is just an impression.
when I bring up the board, i usually glance at the number of guests and members currently viewing. Since the message board advertisement has been up, I get the feeling there are a lot more guests viewing than before....

There is alot more guests viewing than before. This morning around 6:30 I think there was around 25 guests viewing. Now getting them to register is another task.

Newcomer and Love it!

Bowling since March of '07 and I was hooked after I bought my first ball and learned to stroke it up the lane. After a summer of endless practice I'm now a 190's bowler and still got the fever. Its thanks to the atmosphere, encouragment and occassioinal tips I get from guys like you all in my local center.

Thanks for good info and laughs guys. I don't belong to any other forum on the web...this is the only one I've felt worth while.

Yup. The masses are anxiously awaiting "those of us who know" to tell 'em how to fix their new bowling ball that isn't doing what they wanted it to. They're embarrassed to go back to the pro shop and get chewed out for asking for the wrong drill the first time.

Crusher I thought you were selling all your 16lb gear. Did I miss something??? Wouldn't be the first time that happened. Ask Tink.
