I have a 16 lb. Toxic and Tomb Raider that i was going to sell, but have decided not to. The Toxic has a 3 oz. top weight and a 1" pin. The Tomb Radier has a 2.5oz. top weight and a 2" pin. I was thinking of having one drilled Rico style, since i have an upcoming tournament in Vegas and we are gonna be bowling on the US Open pattern, which is heavy, flat, and long. I just wanted some opinions on which one would be better for this specific drilling.

First off, can you use the Tomb Raider to compete? Second, the Toxic sounds like it's better suited for that drill (per the pin distance) anyway. Yes/No?

yeah, the Tomb Raider is USBC approved. As far as i've been told, a 2" pin is optimum for the rico drilling, but i wanted to get some more opinions on it.

Okay. I thought it was an overseas ball and I didn't know if that changed anything for US competitions.

From my balls that have been Rico'd, a 2"-3" pin is best. I'd actually like to try a Cherry Vibe drilled Rico.

My Toxic is drilled Rico and its pretty damn good.
Pin distance is important but depends on the top weight. The X hole needs to be 6 3/4" from the pin through the cg. So if there is too much top weight and you have a short pin, you will have to move the X hole closer than 6 3/4" which will change the roll characteristics of the ball.

The Tomb Raider would be the best suited ball from what I have read.
You dont want a extermely long pin or a ton of top weight. Think you want a 2-3" pin and top weight of around 2.5-3oz, ideally.

With a weight hole 6 3/4" from the pin along the pin cg (or psa) line.

My Toxic that I had (wish it never cracked) was Rico'd. That ball was crazy strong. Very, very good ball.

Oops... forgot that part.

Yes yota it would be, but my guess is you would have to sand it just a bit. The ideal pin to CG distance is one that is roughly half the distance of your span. So use that to figure out which one to use. Remember, you can always adjust the cover on ANY reactive ball to suite the condition
