Hey everyone. Happy New Year!

I took a leave of absence from the board for a while and have missed talking about bowling with you all.

Anyway, I haven't bought any new balls since my Anger but the thought is always out there to try something new. I guess I just take care of my balls and can't seem to wear them out.

I was in a rut for a while and recently came out of it. The house I bowl in recently replaced the surface of the approaches and alleys with a newer synthetic. I can't remember the name of the stuff.

The heads have some kind of new insulation under them which makes the ball bounce if you drop or loft it and they sound more like real wood and less like the old stuff.

The old lanes were Anvilite which is an extremely hard surface.

Well, needless to say, it took me about 4 bowling sessions to figure out how to bowl on the new surface. When I went to try the lanes for the first time, it was the morning after a league. The lane manager told me about the bounce factor and that I'd have to move about 4 boards left because the new surface hooks more.

Well, that was true until league night. The house adjusted the pattern to make it a little wider and slightly longer. I think they're close to 40 ft now. I found my line after the second game last night and it held up deep into the second shift league for me.

I only had to move a total of about 5 boards left all night. I just have to swing the ball out more. So, instead of playing down the 10 board like I used to, I need to throw it just inside 10 and out to about 4 and the ball comes back nicely. I have my feet (right foot) on anywhere between 20-26.

My Toxic was my ball that worked best on the pattern last night.

Anyway, it's good to be back. One of these days I'm going to upgrade my gear but I really can't justify it until I wear something out. For now, I'll continue to work on my game and I feel like my current arsenal is fine.

So PAX changed their lanes and approaches. I'm gonna have to try these puppies out.

I was wondering what happened to you. Glad to see you're back.

Yeah, they made the change during the Christmas/New Year holiday season. So, we couldn't bowl for about 3 weeks.

What house do you bowl at?

Lord Calvert, the lanes are better than Esperanza, which isn't hard to do.

I gotta get up there sometime. In fact, I know the new manager up there. He bowls in the same league as me and we bowled on the same team in the PBA Experience league last summer.

Nice bowling, I too can't seem to wear out my hammer bowlingballs. My first ball ever (Blae reactive pearl) is still kicking ars and taking names...

I guess I need to stop cleaning them and getting them resurfaced so I can justify buying new balls...

Thanks man! Yeah, I see all these posts about people's balls not hooking anymore and stuff and I have to scratch my head. I bowl at least twice a week (2 leagues) and practice at least once (4-6 games) and I haven't had to have any of my gear resurfaced yet. I just keep cleaning them after every session with a spray or two of Ebonite Energizer Cleaner and they still work good as new.

The lanes aren't that bad, just inconsistant.

Well, you should really get down to Pax to check out the new surface.

I just came back from practicing. I shot 4 games. All low 200's and one 180's game. I only missed 2 non split spares and one split.

I can't believe how consistent they roll. I rolled 4 games and stayed on the same line with the same ball and was hammering the pocket. I used my Pain for all 4 games.

I had my left foot on 30 and threw over 10 out to about 2. The only adjustments I really needed was to pick my speed up gradually and I moved up about 6" on the approach.
