if you have two identical balls but, the ONLY difference is the mass bias is in a different place in relation to the pin and cg. say for instance one is in a straight line and one makes a triangle. will one react different than the other if they are both have the same drill.

NO NO now if one of them requires a weighthole and the otherone doesn't and u put one in only one of them, then they will probably react a little differently.

Well according to a few videos on the net, the CG in an assymetrical ball makes no difference in ball reaction. Now if you have to put a weight hole in the ball, just try to make them as close as possible on side and finger/thumb as you can. The big factor will be if you drill into the weight block or not. If you change the shape of the core, they will act differently

The pin and the MB are the two major points to worry about, the CG has no effect on the ball motion, it only allows for the option of a weight hole later on. The Pin and MB points will always be 90 degrees from each other on the surface of the ball, so there should be no need to worry about the difference in location.

Also, if you are worried about a weight hole changing the motion of the ball, you can have a weight hole that is under 1" in diameter put in the ball - this will cause little to no change in the motion.

on my other balls these are in a straight line. i now have three balls drilled the same but i had told my pro shop that i wanted this one different. he told me it would be different since the mass bias was kicked out. i dont know i just try and throw strikes.:( i guess i have to buy thirty balls before i get one right.

The shot will change very slightly. The CG in the position it is in now gives the ball more thumb weight, therefore the ball will be smoother than something with the CG away from the thumb, this looks to be a big hooking, smooth drill. Let us know your results.

will one react different than the other if they are both have the same drill.

Yes and no....

No = The distance of the pin to pap and the mb to pap is whats important to ball reaction. The position of the cg is only relevant to where the additional weight is and where an xhole and the depth of finger hole need to be drilled if at all.

Yes = The position of the cg will dictate where if any a x-hole will need to go. The position of that x hole will have an effect on ball roll. It can increase or decrease flare as well as move the bowtie up or down

hope this doesnt confuse anymore

Blue is right, dont pay any attention to the CG. WHen laying out an assymetrical ball, just draw a line between the pin and MB and forget about the CG for layout. The CG is the heavy part of the ball and should only be considered for possible legality of side weight. After a ball is layed out, they can weigh it to see if it will be legal. Try to keep the side under 3 oz and your fine. You can get that out with a hole. And Blue, I think technically, the hole that changes motion has to be 31/32 and 2 1/4 in deep min. I know thats close anyway according to Ebonite

Blue & Stampy are correct.

The placement & size of the hole will let you fine tune the reaction. Small deep holes tend to smooth the reaction out & larger shallow holes tend to make more aggressive. Placement of the hole will add to or take away from the amount of flare which will make more aggressive or mellow the reaction out also.
