Speaking of rev rates, I would estimate just from my shot that I am a low to medium rev bowler, but how can you actually figure out what your rev rate is?

Place the piece of tape running from the bowler's PAP to above the fingers. Film from behind, with a close up of the hand at the release point. As the ball is being released, stop the tape. Assign the tape a position on a clock (i.e. the piece of tape points to 10:00). In slow motion, click off 10 frames and freeze. Count the amount that the tape rotates as hours, as if it was the hour hand on a clock. Multiply the amount of hours by 15. (For example, the ball started at 10:00. After 10 slow motion frames the tape ended at 5:00, passing 10:00 once). One complete rotation around (10:00 to 10:00) counts as 12 hours. 10:00 to 5:00 (the ending position) equals 5 hours. This is a total of 17 hours of rotation. Multiply the amount of hours (17) by 15. This equals 255 Rpm's.

THe revrate is appx 475. We checked it on motion pro it came to 475 Rod Ross calculated 487 with digitrax and Bowlers map.

man...people like that make me feel rev challenged. Then I see people with less revs than me and I realize I'm stuck in the middle.
I'm right around 250-275 last I checked with the tape...I need to do it again...my speed is up around 17.6-18.7 (assuming I figured the equation thingy out).
Btw....how hard is that guy in the video throwing?

Last time my coach saw me bowl he said my rev rate was around 350, but I only throw 14-15mph, If I speed up my revs drop to probably around 200ish :(
Any advantage or disadvantage to throwing 2-3mph faster than I do now?
Or should I just stick with my release and fine tune it? (although I am sure by the time wrist surgery heals I will need alot of fine tuning)
Only another month or 2 before I can bowl again!

Daorge- revs and ball speed effect carry, if you are comfortable with the way you currently throw, then stay with it. As long as you can bowl well the way you bowl, then you should stick with it.
