i have a jvc hdd camcorder and i have taken videos of me bowling with it. when i try to post them on here, the file extension does not work with the site. the extension is .MOD. can anyone recommend a program that will convert this file to a usable format? (free download, if possible)
also some kind of editing software that will allow me to shorten it or take certain clips from the entire video. thanks.

Ask and ye' shall receive. There are a couple of suggestions on that site...didn't read too much into it, but it looks like it's worth a shot.

Once you've captured the movie and edited it, click on save movie file and flow the prompts. Save it as a .WMV file and then you can upload it to utube or other video file shareing sites

Like Blue said, you'll need to find a video sharing website Like YouTube, Putfile...
Don't think you'll be able to post directly here, with video files.
