Notice Hammer doesn't put up a promotion like that? Why you ask? because they are #1 on the market. Their equipment has been proven to be a winner. Looks like other companies are hurting for sales now doesn't it. Why else wouold they send emails out
This is something I was thinking about yesterday at the lanes. I got there same as always...the guy behind the counter saw me coming in and automatically set me up on a pair of lanes (proving Rowdy right about looks get you a lot further). Anyways, that's not the point.
I start bowling and notice this group of uncontrolable high school kids about 5 pairs down from me. They were acting like complete jackasses--one would run up to another while they were on the approach and try to mess up his/her shot by slapping, punching, pushing, throwing random objects at them, yelling--just general stupid crap.
Normally I'd either shake it off as just kids being kids or I go over and tell them to knock it off. While I was looking over at them trying to figure out what the hell was wrong with their brains, I spot them...a ball return FULL of Hammers.
I didn't notice the ball types right away, mostly because they were so beat-up and in need of maintenance that it was hard to read the logos. They were filthy--a Hawg that hasn't been cleaned EVER looks a lot like a No Mercy at first glance because of the oil build-up. There was not a rag anywhere to be found for wiping the ball off between shots.
I understand how it's a good thing that Hammer is the top selling brand...but at what price. Its a double edged sword. I was under the impression that being a Hammerhead meant that you have a certain amount of respect for the sport and those who play it. I was just wondering how it must look to someone who is contemplating joining the Hammerhead Nation, to have a group of horse's-asses behaving the way they were and throwing Hammers. I have always been a strong proponent for not going with the flow. I don't generally like anything that is popular, I HATE cliques and never wanted to be a part of the "cool" group.
So I thought I would put this out there for you guys to discuss. Do you see these types of things in your houses? What would you say to that young man/woman coming into the sport? "Don't mind those guys, they're not REAL Hammerhead faithful." Because now you sound just as pompous and arrogant as the other guy. Don't get me wrong, I love Hammer products and have no intention of using another manufacturer's gear. I guess I am wondering if its just me seeing these things and making "mountains out of mole hills" or is this the early stages of a much larger trend?
Thanks for letting me vent.:D
