Due to a fortunate turn of events, I will be purchasing a new ball tomorrow or Sunday. If I play my cards right I can talk the ole' lady into letting me get two. My problem/question is this; there are 3 balls I am considering--the BWB, NMB and the BWC. I had never thought about which one I would want because I never anticipated running into the extra cash. Now that I will probably have to choose which one (or 2) I want I am finding it extremely difficult.
Currently I have a Blue Faball, a BWP and a Sport Tech plastic spare ball. I need a spare ball to update the one I have now...I also need a ball for heavier oil conditions. I'm torn. Perhaps the Hammerheads can give me some suggestions. I'm not the kind of guy that can just go out and get a new ball whenever I feel like it. I have 3 kids that are trying their best to eat me out of house and home and if it were not for this extra money, I would not be getting a new ball for a looooooooong time. So I want to make sure that I get something now that I do have the money because an opportunity like this won't come around again too much sooner than rapture.
if you need something for heavy oil i suggest the bite. i also like the nmb but it isnt for as heavy of oil.

If you get the cherry vibe for light oil be sure to get it drilled weak. If you have a lot of revs then really weak. This ball is pretty strong from what Ive seen but its the best light oil ball in the newer line of Hammers, its more of a medium oil ball but thats all we have right now.

Morgan, as it stands right now I would suggest the BWB for heavy oil conditions. The NMB'n could also be used on a heavy pattern but will probably need to be drilled to roll early and a surface adjustment.
Yoiur best be would be the Bite. Now for a spare ball the BWC is a awsome ball but a little rpicey . You could always go with an Ebonite Maxim as your spare ball and it is cheaper than the BWC. If you don't mind paying the extra money go with the BWC then.

I think you are right about going with the BWB. The only reason I was considering the BWC for the spare ball was because I cringe if I even think about throwing a ball other than Hammer. I really do need a spare ball and you are right, it IS pricey so I guess the next best thing would be Ebonite. I've still got some thinking to do before I decide between spare ball or heavy oil ball but I'm leaning toward heavy oil. Thanks for the advice I appreciate it!

I've been tossing that one around for a while also. Bite and Cherry Vibe....Bite and Blue Vibe....Bite and Clear....NMB and C/B Vibe....I do already have a plastic ball, but if you saw this thing you would be just as embarrassed as me to have to pull this thing out of the bag and put it on the ball return. It has seen better days.

The Clear is a shelf queen. It's a collector ball. Blow the bucks on the Bite AND the NMB. What's the use of having some extra dough if you can't buy something you want?

Wouldn't I have overlapping equipment if I got the Bite and the NMB if I already have the BWP and the Blue Faball? That arsenal looks like it is Medium-Heavy oil overkill with very little in the way of light oil balls and very heavy oil balls. HA ha ha...I think I'm confusing myself now.

I don't put much stock in all this "heavy" vs "light" oil stuff. First off,DEFINE heavy and light oil. What you think is heavy in your house,I'll think is medium to light in mine. The BWB and NMB work in totally different ways as far as line goes. Two different cores,HART in the NMB and Gas Mask in the BWB. I love 'em both. The reaction of these balls lies in the layout, how they are drilled. The BWB should have more snap on the backend vs the NMB that'll start to hook earlier. Different balls for different lane conditions. I'd still buy 'em both.

i myself would recommend a nmb or an anger, but if bubba says the bite works well i would trust him. i have not thrown a bite yet, but most people are very happy with theirs. i think it would be better anyways, because you'd have two balls with the same core.

Bet if he buys the BWB and NMB,his BWP will go into retirement shortly.

haha ya i don't have the bite, but i don't really use my bwp anymore. however, i am playing around with the surface on it. i got it sanded the other day to 1000 abralon and had my guy polish it. i also put in a new thumb slug and got power lifts. going to try it out and see how much this baby moves now.

The BWP will move some more,I sanded mine and got about 5 more boards of hook out of it. Still,it always stayed in the bag,the two BWS's and the BBP would roll ahead of it. I traded the BWP to NeoWidow for his NMB and haven't looked back. The HART core is great! Everyone else who owned this ball bitched about it,but I'm racking it up with the ball. Finally got the thumb hole dialed in and went 9/XXXXXX9/X9/X-249 with it. To think I missed a 300 by three lousy pins........

man i love my nmb first ball out and i use it as long as i can. as soon as i get my refund i probably will buy the original no mercy. i like the hitting power! it just sounds like a more solid hit than my bws. don't get me wrong though i still treasure my black widow solid it's what i used to get to where i am today. have you ever used power lifts before?

If you're after a spare ball why not get a Columbia Blue Dot? It's probably the best spare ball available.

We're stubborn. We're gonna wait until the new guy starts making a Hammer spare ball for us.

Bingo!!! I would think I were putting some sort of hex on the rest of my balls if I bought outside Hammer. Ebonite owns the Hammer brand and I still am hesitant about buying a Maxim.

I couldn't bring myself to buy a Maxim either. Might as well buy a White Dot.
Let's start an Email campaign to Jeff Ussery and ask for a spare ball that has the Hammer logo on it. Heck, that plant makes 5000 balls a DAY. I'm sure they can find room for a few extras.:)

I Just got my Bite 2 weeks ago and would suggest that ball, It is just awsome words can't explain just wish it would have been realeased 10 weeks earlier, also looking into getting the NMB when uncle sam hands out that little check he wants us to spend to spark the econmy! The BITE should be a for sure purchase it has helped my game so much the past 2 weeks have had back to back 500 series the first 2 of my short bowling career!!:D

Hope I'm not too late to chime in. Unless your old spare ballis in two pieces, you should just get any cracks or gouges filled, and have your pro shop resurface and polish the heck out of it. Even redrill it if your span changed, add some new inserts and it will be exactly like a new spare ball or better. Did this with the maxim and it is still awesome.
Then you'll have the cash for both the other strike balls. I love my NMB!
