Ever since I got my BWS and EBL drilled I have been having issues with my finger. I am a lefty, and my middle finger, left side (side that faces my ring finger) starts to bleed (skin peels off). I played 12 games today, and at about game 5 it started to bother me, and by game 12 i was in pain. My pro told me it is probably a problem with my release, causing the skin by my knuckle on my middle finger to rub wrong.
Has anyone experienced this? I would try to change my release but I am bowling better since it started happening than I ever have. Also, since it happened RIGHT when i got my BWS drilled, could it just be a tight grip (even though it feels fine)?
Thanks!

Sounds to me like the driller got the finger pitches backwards , or drilled for a right hander. I have seen this two or three times and it ends just like you are describing. I would not say anything to your driller until someone else checks them for you. Then if they are wrong, well its up to you on your next move

hm, thats awful. The backend on my BWS is correct (ie it rolls the right way, left to right, i am a lefty) however it does feel a bit odd on the fingers. So, because it rolls the right way, its safe to say it was drilled right, correct? Here is a picture of how my BWS was drilled, this is a lefty layout, right? http://forums.hammerbowling.com/showthread.php?t=6395
Also, how would I check to ensure the grips are correct?

No, I am talking about the pitches on the fingers. Its really easy to foget to do them the other way since we mostly drill for right handers.

I guess thats a little better news. Any advice on checking them?

You have to have a pitch gauge to do it. Any pro shop will have them

Ok, I will try and find this out. I don't really want to ask the local pro-shop because I don't want to offend them. It is just a bit odd that my original ball was just fine, and my 3rd ball (second was a spare ball) I had drilled suddenly caused this problem. And, if there was an issue, I am not sure how they would resolve it.
But the main issue here is figuring it out without offending the guys who run the pro shop.

I will talk to him, I wanted to try and get a few more responses before I talk to him, for some reason I feel like I would be offending him. How should I approach him with this issue?

IMO if the ball is BURNING you or aka causing a blister tearing somthing is wrong someplace . Like I said mine was a tight hole .Once he opened mine up it neve even hurt bowling even on the blister . If IMO again he is a good Pro Shop driller he will help you fix the problem just be stright with him /her .

Yes, go to your pro shop asap. The ball is most likely drilled improperly. You should be able to release the ball any way you want to and it not hurt. The fact that it is making you bleed is flat out wrong.
For a lefty, the middle finger should have 1/8" right pitch, and the ring should have 5/8" left pitch.
They should also have reverse pitch on them, but how much depends on how flexible your fingers are. Most people that come to my shop get between 1/4" and 1/2" reverse pitch (but it has been more or less depending on the person).
Your actual inserts may be too small as well, that could cause it. To check them, put one finger into its proper insert at a time. put it in as much as you can without forcing it or having to wiggle your finger around to get a good fit. If your knuckle goes all the way in, its too big. If you can't get your finger into the insert where your knuckle bends at (check the underside of your fingers, its the crease in the skin) then they are too small.
As for how to approach them, just flat out ask them what the pitches on the holes are. If they don't know or say they can't measure them, time to find a new pro shop - its a very basic thing.

it's not a big deal to take the ball back for minor adjustments. it's part of the fitting process. like pipes said, if the guy is good then he should understand and have no problem fixing it to satisfy you, the customer.
